NSA Uses Loophole to Justify Collecting Domestic E-mail, Phone Calls

The National Security Agency (NSA) is using a “secret backdoor” to conduct warrantless searches of the e-mails and phone calls of American citizens, the Guardian (U.K.) reports. As with earlier reports, this latest revelation comes from information given to the newspaper by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

Spencer Ackerman and James Ball, reporting for the Guardian, write that a rule change that was previously unreported is giving the NSA the inroad it needs to monitor “individual Americans’ communications using their name and other identifying information.”

In a statement to the Guardian, Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) reportedly said that this rule change makes it possible for the NSA to conduct “warrantless searches for the phone calls or e-mails of law-abiding Americans.”

The regulatory restatement relied on by the NSA to justify their unconstitutional surveillance was “approved in 2011” by the Obama administration, in direct contradiction to the president’s commitment to protect the constitutionally protected privacy of the American public “from the NSA’s dragnet surveillance programs.”

The federal spy apparatus is relying on Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Amendments of 2008 (FISA). This provision purports to grant the government the “authority to target without warrant the communications of foreign targets, who must be non-US citizens and outside the US at the point of collection.”

Under this same section, furthermore, Americans’ communications with people residing overseas can also be collected without a warrant. Of course, the NSA admits that “purely domestic communications can also be inadvertently swept into its databases.” These accidents are known as “incidental collection” in the argot of the surveillance state.

The information revealed in the document provided by Snowden to the Guardian is “the first evidence that the NSA has permission to search those databases for specific US individuals’ communications.”

In a nutshell, the change to the procedure the NSA is required by law to follow in order to minimize the “incidental collection” of domestic communications was amended in the “document provided to operatives in the NSA’s Special Source Operations division — which runs the Prism program and large-scale cable intercepts through corporate partnerships with technology companies.” The precise pattern is described by the Guardian:

“While the FAA 702 minimization procedures approved on 3 October 2011 now allow for use of certain United States person names and identifiers as query terms when reviewing collected FAA 702 data,” the glossary states, “analysts may NOT/NOT [not repeat not] implement any USP [US persons] queries until an effective oversight process has been developed by NSA and agreed to by DOJ/ODNI [Office of the Director of National Intelligence].”

The term “identifiers” is NSA jargon for information relating to an individual, such as telephone number, email address, IP address and username as well as their name.

The document — which is undated, though metadata suggests this version was last updated in June 2012 — does not say whether the oversight process it mentions has been established or whether any searches against US person names have taken place.

Senator Wyden told The Guardian that the surveillance methods employed by the NSA under this section of FISA is nothing less than a “backdoor search” of private communications data of millions of Americans who are not suspected of committing any crime.

“Section 702 was intended to give the government new authorities to collect the communications of individuals believed to be foreigners outside the US, but the intelligence community has been unable to tell Congress how many Americans have had their communications swept up in that collection,” he said.

“Once Americans’ communications are collected, a gap in the law that I call the ‘back-door searches loophole’ allows the government to potentially go through these communications and conduct warrantless searches for the phone calls or emails of law-abiding Americans.”

Wyden is a veteran of the battle to restore constitutional standards of freedom from unwarranted searches and seizures.

In July of 2011 and again in May 2012, Senators Mark Udall (D-Colo.) and Ron Wyden wrote a letter to Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper, Jr., asking him a series of four questions regarding the activities of the NSA and other intelligence agencies regarding domestic surveillance.

In one of the questions, Senators Udall and Wyden asked Clapper if “any apparently law-abiding Americans had their communications collected by the government pursuant to the FISA Amendments Act” and if so, how many Americans were affected by this surveillance.

In a response to the inquiry dated June 15, 2012, I. Charles McCullough III informed the senators that calculating the number of Americans who’ve had their electronic communications “collected or reviewed” by the NSA was “beyond the capacity of his office and dedicating sufficient additional resources would likely impede the NSA’s mission.

In other words, the NSA is too busy illegally recording our private e-mails, texts, Facebook posts, and phone calls to figure out how many of us are already caught in their net. And, furthermore, the NSA considers Congress an impotent impediment that can be ignored, stonewalled, and lied to.

Recently, Wyden and Udall have persisted in their efforts to exercise some degree of oversight of the NSA. The Guardian reports:

But in a letter they recently wrote to the NSA director, General Keith Alexander, the two senators warned that a fact sheet released by the NSA in the wake of the initial Prism revelations to reassure the American public about domestic surveillance was misleading.

In the letter, they warned that Americans’ communications might be inadvertently collected and stored under Section 702, despite rules stating only data on foreigners should be collected and retained….

“We note that this same fact sheet states that under Section 702, ‘Any inadvertently acquired communication of or concerning a US person must be promptly destroyed if it is neither relevant to the authorised purpose nor evidence of a crime,'” they said.

“We believe that this statement is somewhat misleading, in that it implied the NSA has the ability to determine how many American communications it has collected under Section 702, or that the law does not allow the NSA to deliberately search for the records of particular Americans.”

The foreign intelligence surveillance (Fisa) court issues approvals annually authorizing such operations, with specific rules on who can be targeted and what measures must be taken to minimize any details “inadvertently” collected on US persons.

Secret minimization procedures dating from 2009, published in June by the Guardian, revealed that the NSA could make use of any “inadvertently acquired” information on U.S. persons under a defined range of circumstances, including if they held usable intelligence, information on criminal activity, threat of harm to people or property, are encrypted, or are believed to contain any information relevant to cybersecurity.

Documents obtained by the Guardian reveal that the court that was ostensibly created to keep the federal domestic spy apparatus from invading the rights of Americans is actually routinely giving the National Security Agency (NSA) and others the go-ahead to use data “inadvertently” collected during unwarranted surveillance of American citizens.

The newspaper that broke the story of the NSA’s activities as revealed by Snowden, published on June 20 “two full documents submitted to the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.” Both documents were signed by Attorney General Eric Holder and were issued in July 2009.

According to the article written by Glenn Greenwald and James Ball, the documents “detail the procedures the NSA is required to follow to target “non-US persons” under its foreign intelligence powers and what the agency does to “minimize data collected on US citizens and residents in the course of that surveillance.”

Not surprisingly, neither the Fourth Amendment nor the freedoms against tyranny that it protects are honored by Holder or the other architects and construction crews erecting the surveillance state.

Despite the fact that with rare exception the people’s elected representatives in Congress have been AWOL in the battle to preserve the Constitution and the fundamental liberties it was designed to protect, there are a few lawmakers who won’t sit idly by as the establishment repeals the Bill of Rights. Again, from the Guardian’s interview with Senator Wyden:

Wyden told the Guardian that he raised concerns about the loophole with President Obama during an August 1 meeting with legislators about the NSA’s surveillance powers.

“I believe that Congress should reform Section 702 to provide better protections for Americans’ privacy, and that this could be done without losing the value that this collection provides,” he said.

According to a document released August 9 by the NSA, “NSA touches about 1.6% of that. However, of the 1.6% of the data, only 0.025% is actually selected for review.”

Irrelevant. Unless that 1.6 percent is suspected of crimes and a warrant has been issued, every one of those bits is protected by the Constitution and everyone accessing that data or authorizing that access should be held accountable.

Student Financial Aid Goes To The Rich And The Poor Get Debt Instead

Did you know rich students get financial help from colleges while the poor ones get laden with debt instead? Such is the conclusion of a new report, Demerit Aid, from the New America Foundation. While Pell grants tallied $35 billion in 2012, universities are reducing their own financial aid based on income and instead, shifting those funds to the wealthy students.

Hundreds of public and private non-profit colleges expect the neediest students to pay an amount that is equal to or even more than their families’ yearly earnings. As a result, these students are left with little choice but to take on heavy debt loads or engage in activities that reduce their likelihood of earning their degrees, such as working full-time while enrolled or dropping out until they can afford to return.

The analysis finds that the financial hurdles are highest in the private nonprofit college sector, where only a few dozen exclusive colleges meet the full financial need of the low-income students they enroll. Nearly two-thirds of the private institutions analyzed charge students from the lowest-income families, those making $30,000 or less annually, a net price of over $15,000 a year.

There is compelling evidence to suggest that many schools are engaged in an elaborate shell game: using Pell Grants to supplant institutional aid they would have provided to financially needy students otherwise, and then shifting these funds to help recruit wealthier students.

Below are graphs from the report. These figures show just how much funding for financial aid has changed. The first graph is financial aid based on income vs. merit in public universities and the second graph is the breakdown in financial aid from private institutions. Merit scholarships are almost mislabeled. These are scholarships for the best students, but this implies high school students, which does not a university graduate make. High schools are also not created equal in the eyes of University acceptance administrators, although the report does not delve into bias against high school graduates from low income areas. Additionally, if students must work while attending school it is almost guaranteed their grades will be lower due to less time available to devote to studies. Yet people who need financial aid the least are getting the most.

The report gives an example of Penn State to show how the poor get the shaft on overall costs while the people who don’t need financial help for college are reaping in the cost reduction rewards.

Penn State University is a case in point. In-state students attending the university’s flagship campus in University Park pay about $16,000 in tuition and fees annually, which
is double the average charged at public four-year colleges and universities. Despite the fact that Penn State spends nearly $14 million a year on institutional aid, its lowest-income in-state students pay an average net price of nearly $17,000, the fifth-highest of any public institution this report examines. In other words, Penn State’s neediest students do not appear to be getting any discount relative to other students at all. At the same time, about 6 percent of the school’s first-time freshmen received an average of $3,800 in so-called “merit aid” in 2010-11.

The situation is worse than just an oversight. It is a deliberate strategy to deny poor people real access to higher education. Schools are engaging in something called admit-deny. Admit-deny means the school officially accepts the student yet offers so little aid, it effectively stops that student from attending due to a lack of financial resources. The message is clear, we don’t want you here and schools won’t admit it directly. They simply make attendance so costly no middle class or poor student can possibly manage the enormous cost.

Inside Higher Ed found that more than one-third of public colleges and nearly two-thirds of private colleges engage in “gapping” — providing lower-income students with aid packages that don’t come close to meeting their financial need. In the parlance of enrollment management, this is often called “admit-deny,” in which schools deliberately underfund financially needy students in order to discourage them from enrolling.

Yet when it comes to the wealthy, higher education is spending their time and money making sure the rich are accepted into their institutions. To use the words of the report, higher education is now in the business of providing affirmative action for the wealthy.

The competition for the wealthy is so strong that 10 per-cent of college admissions directors at four-year colleges (and nearly 20 percent of those at private liberal arts col-leges) reported that they give affluent students a signifi-cant leg up in the admissions process — meaning that they are admitting full-pay students with lower grades and test scores than other applicants. These colleges are, in other words, providing affirmative action for the wealthy, despite all of the extraordinary advantages that these stu-dents have over their less-fortunate peers.

Education used to be the great social leveler. If you were smart, worked hard, the sky was the limit on your future. New America foundation discovered yet another area where the once great American Dream is now a rigged game. Class once again determines one’s station and prospects in life, not one’s real ability. Now Americans are being denied even the opportunity to discover their real talents and skills.

Roseanne Barr: “MK ULTRA Mind Control Rules in Hollywood”

Roseanne Barr is an outspoken actress and comedienne who never shied away from tackling difficult and controversial issues, even if that meant being unpopular or being tagged as “crazy” by mass media. While I can’t say that I agree with all of her views, she remains one of the very few people in Hollywood who dare talking about its most damning issue: MK ULTRA.

In a recent interview with RT, Roseanne talked about the dark side of the entertainment industry and directly mentioned MK ULTRA as being a major force in Hollywood. Here’s the interview (it is set up to start at the part about the entertainment industry).

Roseanne basically says that Hollywood stars are terrified of using their status to speak out about important issues because there’s a “culture of fear” going on there, where “speaking out” almost automatically equals being shunned from the industry and having one’s career destroyed.

More importantly she adds:

“It’s also a big culture of Mind Control. MK ULTRA Mind Control rules in Hollywood.”

This means that many stars do not speak out because they literally cannot do so. They are mind controlled which means that they have alter personas programmed into them that handler are able to trigger and control at will. The above television interview is not the only instance where Roseanne managed to slip mentions of MK Ultra in mass media. During a CNN interview with Larry King which aired on August 16, 2001, Roseanne talks about trauma-based mind control and MK ULTRA (I placed important parts in bold).

KING: All right, some see what you have or had as a serious psychological disorder.

ROSEANNE: I like how you just keep going.

KING: Others as psychological fad. Also…

ROSEANNE: A fad?

KING: Whether it’s deliberately induced or naturally occurring.

ROSEANNE: Well, I have this head shrinker and he says it’s deliberately induced because the CIA is where they started inducing it when after they brought all the Nazis over from Germany to run American Psychiatric Association.

KING: What are you about?

ROSEANNE: I’m telling you the truth. It is all mind control and all kinds of things to invent people with multiple personalities.

KING: So you have been captured by Nazis?

ROSEANNE: The government. Well in a way, I believe the government has implanted some kind of a chip into my head where…

KING: Roseanne.

ROSEANNE: You know, is monitored by Barbara Walters and these other women. And they take all my ideas and I’m, you know.

KING: Yes, is Oprah one of the people monitoring?

ROSEANNE: Of course.

KING: She’s definitely in touch?

ROSEANNE: Definitely. I think she sits with her finger on the switch to the chip.

In that interview, Roseanne claimed that she suffered intense trauma in her childhood, which lead to her having multiple personalities and being manipulated by CIA-lead psychiatric experiments (MK ULTRA).

Roseanne also uses her blog to discuss MK ULTRA in Hollywood. In a 2009 post, she even stated that Joe Jackson (Michael Jackson’s father) was a CIA MK ULTRA operative.

In the wake of the Newtown tragedy, Roseanne posted an article written by her friend John Philips who went deep into the issues of psychological warfare on the American public, mind control, its connection to powerful occultists and organizations such as the Church of Satan and the Temple of Set and the importance of mass media to indoctrinate the masses. In 1976 during the Church Committee Congressional investigation into abuses within the military and intelligence community, the public discovered that a CIA project originally called Bluebird sought to learn how to control both individual behavior and to influence culture as a whole. The creation of a Manchurian Candidate whose behavior could be controlled was the ultimate goal of this research. Scientists associated with the project have admitted that they succeeded in their goals by the mid 1950’s. All government agencies were ordered to stop research on individuals who had sometimes become unwitting victims, in a research program the violated all the provisions for human research laid out at the Nuremburg Trials.

CIA Director William Colby had ordered the destruction of many of the documents related to this research, and unfortunately the Church Committee really only got a small glimpse of the program that victimized 1000’s of individuals under the cover of “scientific research.”

More importantly the Church Committee failed, because it chose not to reveal to the public any information concerning the CIA agencies attempt to influence “American Culture.” To control the public discourse the CIA felt it needed to control and manipulate culture so they could accomplish their goals.

While all the agencies involved in violating the Nuremburg Treaty told the Congressional Committee that all research in this area had been stopped, there is irrefutable evidence that both the program to control individuals behavior and culture at large have continued. At the heart of this research lays the Devil, and until we as a society decide to seize the power of communication away from the Devil, these tragedies will not only continue but intensify. How did individual behavior change in desperate young adults? Because their education taught them that mass killing was OK, justifiable, a good way out of distress. The MindWar was alive and well, the military was succeeding in their objectives.

As the “New Age” movement sprang into popular culture in California in the early 1960’s, Crowley’s work was promoted by Anton LeVey who was the founder of the “Church of Satan” in 1966. Michael Aquino, the author of MindWar, was an active disciple of the Church of Satan and later went on to found his own cult called “The Temple of Set.”

Fukushima now in state of emergency, leaking 300 tons of radioactive water into the ocean daily

Japan’s nuclear watchdog has now declared the leak of radioactive water from Fukushima a “state of emergency.” Each day, 300 tons of radioactive water seeps into the ocean, and it’s now clear that TEPCO has engage in a two-and-a-half-year cover-up of immense magnitude.

“I believe it’s been leaking into the ocean from the start of the crisis two-and-a-half years ago,” disclosed a 12-year TEPCO veteran named Suzuki-san (SOURCE)

“There are still reactor buildings we haven’t gotten into yet,” said another worker named Fujimoto-san. “So there’s always the possibility of another explosion…”

Just how out of control is the situation at Fukushima? It’s so out of control that TEPCO recently had to admit 10 of its workers were somehow — yeah, see if you can figure this out — sprayed with highly radioactive water while waiting for a bus.

“The workers’ exposure above the neck was found to be as much as 10 becquerels per square centimeter,” reports Bloomberg.com

How exactly did highly radioactive water manage to find its way to a bus stop in the first place? TEPCO isn’t sure. It’s confusing with all those radiation alarms going off all the time. In order to concentrate, the company has found it’s easier to just disable all the alarms and pretend nothing’s wrong.

The TEPCO cover-up

To fully grasp the extent of the TEPCO denial, realize that only recently did the company finally admit that radioactive groundwater has been leaking into the ocean. This follows years of stark denials from the company, whose executes have exhibited a remarkable ability to deny reality even when their own workers are dying in droves from cancer.

It’s no exaggeration to say that TEPCO’s downplaying of the full extent of the Fukushima disaster has put tens of millions of lives at risk — people who should have been warned about radiation but were denied that information due to the TEPCO cover-up.

“At this current time in July of 2013, Fukushima is 80 to 100x more expansive and more intense — letting out about 100x more of the radiation of Chernobyl,” reports Dr. Simon Atkins Phoenix Rising Radio on a BlogTalkRadio interview.

“The problem with Fukushima is that it’s not only continuing for 865 days… I mean, let’s wrap our minds around that for a second — it has been leaking out radiation in increasing volumes for 865 days.”

Japan is a society that shuns whistleblowers

Why has TEPCO been able to cover up the truth about Fukushima for so long? Because Japan is a society of mass conformity. The idea of keeping your head down and not “rocking the boat” is deeply embedded in Japanese culture.

Japan is not a nation of “rugged individualism” but of conformist acquiescence.

As a result, whistleblowers are shunned, and there is immense peer pressure to defend the status quo… even when it’s a terrible lie. This culture of conformity at all costs is precisely what allows companies like TEPCO to continue operating extremely dangerous nuclear power plants with virtually no accountability.

While Japan has entire museums dedicated to the horrifying history of two Japanese cities being bombed by the United States at the end of World War II, when Japan’s own power company is involved in a radiological disaster of similar magnitude, the entire incident gets swept under the rug. Radiation? What radiation? If the government says there’s no radiation, then there’s no radiation! After all, it’s invisible!

Why the U.S. government plays along with the cover-up

The U.S. government, of course, plays along with the charade because its own top weapons manufacturer — General Electric — designed and built the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in the first place. And the design decisions made by GE, such as storing spent fuel rods in large pools high above the ground, now look not just incompetent but downright idiotic. It turns out there was never any long-term plan to dispose of the spent fuel rods. The idea was to just let them build up over time until someone else inherited the problem.

So while Japan and the USA play this game of “let’s all pretend nothing happened,” citizens of both countries continue to be exposed to a relentless wave of deadly radiation that now dwarfs the total radiation release of Chernobyl (which the U.S. media played up in a huge way because the disaster made the Russians look incompetent).

The only reason TEPCO is finally getting around to admitting the truth in all this is because you can’t rig all the Geiger counters forever. Radiation follows the laws of physics and atomic decay, not the whims of lying politicians and bureaucrats. As a result, the real story eventually comes out as we’re starting to see right now.

The Fukushima disaster is likely to get far worse, if you can believe that

The upshot is that the Fukushima disaster is not only far worse than you’ve been told; it’s very likely going to be worse than you could ever imagine. The radiation leak isn’t plugged, in other words, and another explosion — which many experts believe might be imminent — would release thousands of times more nuclear material into the open environment.

Ultimately, the entire Northern hemisphere has been placed at risk by a bunch of corporate bureaucrats who thought building a nuclear facility in the path of a sure-to-happen tidal wave was a fantastic idea. Instead of acknowledging the problem and working to fix it like a responsible person would, our world’s top politicians and ass-coverers have decided it is in their best short-term interests to play along with the TEPCO fairy tale which ridiculously pretends that radioactive leaks can be controlled by wishful thinking.

Newly Discovered Eighth Grade Exam From 1912 Shows How Dumbed Down America Has Become

Have you ever seen the movie Idiocracy? It is a movie about an “average American” that wakes up 500 years in the future only to discover that he is the most intelligent person by far in the “dumbed down” society that is surrounding him.

Unfortunately, that film is a very accurate metaphor for what has happened to American society today. We have become so “dumbed down” that we don’t even realize what has happened to us. But once in a while something comes along that reminds us of how far we have fallen.

In Kentucky, an eighth grade exam from 1912 was recently donated to the Bullitt County History Museum. When I read this exam over, I was shocked at how difficult it was. Could most eighth grade students pass such an exam today? Of course not. In fact, I don’t even think that I could pass it. Sadly, this is even more evidence of “the deliberate dumbing down of America” that former Department of Education official Charlotte Iserbyt is constantly warning us about.

The American people are not nearly as mentally sharp as they once were, and with each passing generation it gets even worse. Just check out some of the questions from the eighth grade exam that was discovered. Do you think that you could correctly answer these?…

-Through which waters would a vessel pass in going from England through the Suez Canal to Manila?

-How does the liver compare in size with other glands in the human body?

-How long of a rope is required to reach from the top of a building 40 feet high to the ground 30 feet from the base of a building?

-Compare arteries and veins as to function. Where is the blood carried to be purified?

-During which wars were the following battles fought: Brandywine, Great Meadows, Lundy’s Lane, Antietam, Buena Vista?

One of the areas that Americans are horribly deficient in today is geography. If you give them a blank world map, most Americans can only identify a very limited number of countries. In fact, according to a survey that was conducted by the National Geographic Society several years ago, only 37 percent of all Americans between the ages of 18 and 24 could find the nation of Iraq on a map of the world even though the United States was actively fighting a war there at the time.

Our young people are also horribly deficient when it comes to math and science. At this point, 15-year-olds in the United States do not even rank in the top half of all industrialized nations when it comes to math and science literacy.

How do we expect to thrive as a nation with these kinds of results?

*Only 43 percent of all U.S. high school students knew that the Civil War was fought some time between 1850 and 1900.

*More than a quarter of all U.S. high school students thought that Christopher Columbus made his famous voyage across the Atlantic Ocean after the year 1750.

*Approximately a third of all U.S. high school students did not know that the Bill of Rights guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

*Only 60 percent of all U.S. students knew that World War I was fought some time between 1900 and 1950.

Even more shocking were the results of a survey of Oklahoma high school students conducted back in 2009. The following is a list of the questions that were asked and the percentage of students that answered correctly….

What is the supreme law of the land? 28 percent

What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution? 26 percent

What are the two parts of the U.S. Congress? 27 percent

How many justices are there on the Supreme Court? 10 percent

Who wrote the Declaration of Independence? 14 percent

What ocean is on the east coast of the United States? 61 percent

What are the two major political parties in the United States? 43 percent

We elect a U.S. senator for how many years? 11 percent

Who was the first President of the United States? 23 percent

Who is in charge of the executive branch? 29 percent

So why is this happening?

Well, for one thing, our system of public education is a complete and total joke. We have millions of kids “graduating from high school” that can barely read, that have almost no ability to speak in public, that cannot write a decent essay and that cannot balance a checkbook.

It also doesn’t help that Americans (especially young Americans) are absolutely addicted to entertainment. Americans spend an average of 153 hours watching television each month, and when we aren’t watching television we are watching movies, playing video games, surfing the Internet, etc.

When is the last time that you saw a young person actually reading a book that was not required for school? Yes, it does happen once in a while, but it is so rare that it is kind of startling when you spot it happening.

But it is not just our young people that have been “dumbed down”. Even our presidents have been “dumbed down”. If you doubt this, just check out this amazing graphic which shows how the reading level of State of the Union addresses has steadily declined since the beginning of our nation.

Personally, I have an awareness that I should be able to think much more clearly than I am able to right now. I can feel the effect that our society has had on my own mental abilities, and it frustrates me.

A lot has been written about the decline of our health here in America, but very little gets written about our mental decline. That is a shame, because our ability to think clearly and rationally is so very critical to our future.

Court officially declares Bitcoin a real currency

A federal judge has for the first time ruled that Bitcoin is a legitimate currency, opening up the possibility for the digital crypto-cash to soon be regulated by governmental overseers.

United States Magistrate Judge Amos Mazzant for the Eastern District of Texas ruled Tuesday that the US Securities and Exchange Commission can proceed with a lawsuit against the operator of a Bitcoin-based hedge fund because, despite existing only on the digital realm, “Bitcoin is a currency or form of money.”

Trendon Shavers of Bitcoin Savings & Trust (BTCST) was accused last year of scamming customers out of roughly $4.5 million worth of the cryptocurrency through his online hedge-fund. Shavers promised investors a weekly return of 7 percent, according to the federal complaint, but shut-down his site after collecting upwards of 700,000 bitcoins. When the SEC charged Shavers last month with operating a Ponzi scheme, he fought back by saying Bitcoin is not actual currency and can’t be regulated.

“The SEC asserts that Shavers made a number of misrepresentations to investors regarding the nature of the investments and that he defrauded investors. However, the question currently before the Court is whether the BTCST investments in this case are securities as defined by Federal Securities Laws,” Judge Mazzant wrote this week. “Shavers argues that the BTCST investments are not securities because Bitcoin is not money, and is not part of anything regulated by the United States. Shavers also contends that his transactions were all Bitcoin transactions and that no money ever exchanged hands. The SEC argues that the BTCST investments are both investment contracts and notes, and, thus, are securities.”

Despite Shavers’ argument, Mazzant weighed in this week with an opinion that’s not only quite the contrary, but could have widespread repercussions in the world of Bitcoin.

“It is clear that Bitcoin can be used as money,” Mazzant wrote. “It can be used to purchase goods or services, and as Shavers stated, used to pay for individual living expenses. The only limitation of Bitcoin is that it is limited to those places that accept it as currency. However, it can also be exchanged for conventional currencies, such as the US dollar, Euro, Yen and Yuan. Therefore, Bitcoin is a currency or form of money, and investors wishing to invest in BTCST provided an investment of money.”

Bitcoin investments “meet the definition of investment contract, and as such, are securities,” the judge added.

Now with the magistrate’s blessing, the SEC can continue with its case against Shavers and his site. With that same ruling, though, the government is for now getting the go ahead for what could lead to the rampant regulation of Bitcoin.

“The ruling, while certainly a victory for the Commission, is also likely to have farther-reaching ramifications as federal regulators increasingly encounter investment fraud based on non-traditional investment vehicles,” securities and business law attorney Jordan Maglich wrote in a Forbes op-ed this week.

“The case is notable in several aspects. First, it is the first known enforcement action predicated on a Bitcoin-based investment scheme, and comes at a time when US and foreign governments are devoting increasing scrutiny to the unregulated nature of the Bitcoin currency structure. In addition to these issues, the case may also have deeper ramifications going forward. Indeed, the case comes as federal regulators are increasingly tasked with policing non-traditional investments that share few characteristics with traditional investment vehicles such as stocks and notes,” Maglich wrote.

Even if this week’s ruling is a landmark decision with regards to Bitcoin, it certainly isn’t the first time as of late Uncle Sam intervened in the digital marketplace. In May, the US Department of Homeland Security seized a payment processing account Tuesday belonging to the largest international Bitcoin trader, claiming the monetary exchange service falsified financial documents.

New Nanotech Set to Track, Self-Destruct, and GPS Tag Guns Wirelessly

The U.S. government is developing new firearm nanotechnology that can track, disrupt, and even self-destruct firearms.

The technological system, known as a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS), utilizes tiny devices that are implanted in guns and other weapons. These devices are more than chips; they are actual mechanical processes created by precision engineering that can affect the weapon’s operations. Media reports reveal the devices include miniature GPS systems designed to make guns easier to track and self-destruct systems that could cause them to explode if they receive a wireless signal.

The technology coincides with the ‘smart gun’ technology Anthony Gucciardi has broken down in the past, which can be used to ‘turn off’ weapons when in gun free zones or whenever designated by government.

Other capabilities being developed include software that could interfere with the operation of targeting systems. This could include laser sights that couldn’t lock onto a person in uniform. Another possibility is targeting systems or sights that simply stop working after a certain date or shut down if they receive a wireless signal.

Guns That Self-Destruct

The scary thing is that MEMS is being developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Pentagon’s science division. The idea is that this technology will be used in weapons given to questionable allies such as the Syrian rebels, who Obama is currently funding with weapons and other resources.

DARPA actually has a program to develop what it calls ‘Vanishing Programmable Resources’; in other words, weapons that will self-destruct. The idea here is to make weapons that can be ordered to self-destruct if they fall into the wrong hands.

High Tech Gun Control

The scary thing is that this technology is emerging right now, and it isn’t hard to imagine law enforcement or gun control zealots demanding that such technologies be built into all guns sold to the public. That way somebody could just push a button somewhere and thousands of guns could simply explode, or the targeting systems could stop working. They could also mandate that all guns contain a tiny transmitter that would make it easy for law enforcement to track down.

This technology isn’t a fantasy; weapons expert Chris Harmer told Bloomberg Businessweek that MEMS capabilities will be built into U.S. weapons within three to five years. Businessweek also reported that the market for MEMS will soon be around $1.1 billion.

Within a few years the federal government and others could have the capability to control guns without banning them. That will mean a huge market for older guns built before this technology became available.

FDA Admits Chicken Meat Contains Cancer-Causing Arsenic

After years of sweeping the issue under the rug and hoping no one would notice, the FDA has now finally admitted that chicken meat sold in the USA contains arsenic, a cancer-causing toxic chemical that’s fatal in high doses. But the real story is where this arsenic comes from: It’s added to the chicken feed purposely!

Even worse, the FDA says its own research shows that the arsenic added to the chicken feed ends up in the chicken meat where it is consumed by humans. So for the last sixty years, American consumers who eat conventional chicken have been consuming arsenic, a known cancer-causing chemical.

Until this new study, both the poultry industry and the FDA denied that arsenic fed to chickens ended up in their meat. The fairy-tale excuse story we’ve all been fed for sixty years is that “the arsenic is excreted in the chicken feces.” There’s no scientific basis for making such a claim, it’s simply what the poultry industry wanted everybody to believe.

Now the evidence is so undeniable that the manufacturer of the chicken feed product known as Roxarsone has decided to pull the product off the shelves. Interestingly enough, the manufacturer that has been putting arsenic in the chicken feed for all these years is Pfizer — the very same company that makes vaccines containing chemical adjuvants that are injected into children.

Technically, the company making the Roxarsone chicken feed is a subsidiary of Pfizer, called Alpharma LLC. Even though Alpharma now has agreed to pull this toxic feed chemical off the shelves in the United States, it says it won’t necessarily remove it from feed products in other countries unless it is forced by regulators to do so. As reported by AP:

“Scott Brown of Pfizer Animal Health’s Veterinary Medicine Research and Development division said the company also sells the ingredient in about a dozen other countries. He said Pfizer is reaching out to regulatory authorities in those countries and will decide whether to sell it on an individual basis.”

But even as its arsenic-containing product is pulled off the shelves, the FDA continues its campaign of denial, claiming arsenic in chickens is at such a low level that it’s still safe to eat. This is even as the FDA says arsenic is a carcinogen, meaning it increases the risk of cancer.

The National Chicken Council agrees with the FDA. In a statement issued in response to the news that Roxarsone would be pulled from feed store shelves, it stated, “Chicken is safe to eat” even while admitting arsenic was used in many flocks grown and sold as chicken meat in the United States.

What’s astonishing about all this is that the FDA tells consumers it’s safe to eat cancer-causing arsenic but it’s dangerous to drink elderberry juice! The FDA recently conducted an armed raid in an elderberry juice manufacturer, accusing them of the “crime” of selling “unapproved drugs.” Which drugs would those be? The elderberry juice, explains the FDA. You see, the elderberry juice suddenly becomes a “drug” if you tell people how it can help support good health.
The FDA has also gone after dozens of other companies for selling natural herbal products or nutritional products that enhance and support health. The FDA is also waging a war on raw milk which it says is dangerous. Currently in America, thee is a food and drug regulatory agency that says it’s okay to eat arsenic, but dangerous to drink elderberry juice or raw milk.

Brazilian ‘Atlantis’ found

Geologists have announced the discovery of what has been dubbed the ‘Brazilian Atlantis’, some 900 miles from Rio.

The legend of Atlantis, a sunken island thought to have once lay between Africa and South America, has been the subject of literary myths for centuries.

But geologists in Brazil have now added their claims to speculation over the precise location of the mysterious land mass, mentioned first by Plato in around 360BC.

Working with scientists from Japan, experts believe they have found evidence of a continent that disappeared after Africa and South America separated, 900 miles from the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

The discovery of granite, a rock formed on dry land, was announced by the Geology Service of Brazil (CPRM) as a sign of a lost continent.

“This could be Brazil’s Atlantis,” said CPRM geology director Roberto Ventura Santos. “We are almost certain, but we need to strengthen this hypothesis.”

The material was reportedly found more than 8,000 feet beneath the sea in a region known as the Rio Grande Elevation.

It was discovered last year when geologists dredged the seabed. Underwater observations from Japan’s £84 million manned mini-sub Shinkai 6500 yielded more reports of granite formations last month.

“It is unusual because it is granite rock,” Mr Santos told Brazilian newspaper Estadao. “And you don’t find granite on the seabed. It is more usual to find it on the mainland.”

Hiroshi Kitazato, the Japanese researcher who led the work for the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), said the region was of interest to researchers.

“This is the region that has been least explored worldwide,” he said. “So, we believe it is very important to research it. Previously, the Shinkai carried out expeditions closer to Japan, the Indian and the Pacific Ocean.”

The current thinking on the findings is that the land is continental crust but further confirmation is needed. Scientists are now expected to drill for more samples later this year.

“We speak of Atlantis more in terms of symbolism,” Mr Santos added. “Obviously, we don’t expect to find a lost city in the middle of the Atlantic.

“But if it is the case that we find a continent in the middle of the ocean, it will be a very big discovery that could have various implications in relation to the extension of the continental shelf.”

The Hegelian Dialectic and its use in Controlling Modern Society

What exactly is the Hegelian Dialectic? Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was a 19th century German philosopher who devised a particular dialectic, or, method of argument for resolving disagreements. His method of arriving at the truth by the exchange of logical arguments is a system of thought process still in use to this day.

To put it simply, the basis of Hegelianism dictates that the human mind can’t understand anything unless it can be split into two polar opposites. Good / Evil, Right / Wrong, Left / Right.

For example when people are talking about 2 political parties, Labor or Liberal, what they’re actually referring to, without realizing it is the thesis and the antithesis based off the Hegelian Dialectic. The only real debate that occurs is just the minor differences between those two parties. Nothing is said or done about the issues that neither left or right is discussing. This in particular will become more apparent as the election draws near.

Another form of the Hegelian Dialectic is Problem – Reaction – Solution. Most of us unwittingly fall victim to it all too often and sadly if we don’t stop, we will continue to lose our free will and liberties. It has been widely used by our governments and corporations around the world. You could say that in terms of controlling the masses, and society in general, it’s deployment has been an effective tool in keeping humanity in check.

Almost all major events in history employ the Hegelian Dialectic of:
Problem – manufacture a crisis or take advantage of one already in place in order to get the desired Reaction of public outcry whereby the public demands a Solution which as been predetermined from the beginning.

A classic example is 9/11.

Only when you break the left/right paradigm and come to the realization that the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan and the whole fake, and not to mention contradictory, war on terror was the desired outcome for the neo-conservatives within the Bush administration and the whole military industrial complex. They in fact stated in their own white papers the need for another catastrophic and catalyzing event like a “new Pearl Harbour”.

Here’s a more current example of the Hegelian Dialectic is use. In Australia at present both of the main political parties on the eve of the upcoming election on September 7 are discussing “Boat People”. A derogatory term used to describe refugees and asylum seekers displaced by war or other hardships. I don’t believe they constitute what you would call a “crisis” as the statistics clearly show they aren’t, but for the purpose of this example, our Government is telling us they are a problem. The media is used to play up this problem in order to instigate a reaction (debate) in the public domain on how to tackle it. Both the opposition and ruling party offer their solution.

Again we see that the only real debate occurring is just the minor differences between those two parties. Nothing is said or done about the many other more important issues that neither left or right is discussing.

In order to avoid falling victim to the Hegelian Dialectic from now on you must remember the process involved. Anytime a major problem or issue arises in society think about who will gain or profit from it. Then remove yourself from the equation and take a step back to look at it from a third party perspective. See the so-called “problem”, look at who is reacting, why and in what way. Then look for who is offering up the solution.

When you do this from now on you’ll quickly see the real truth instead of the false truth they wanted you to see.

Darwinism is an Illuminati Scam

The Illuminati have long known that if you destroy belief in God, people will cease to fear God and to obey the Ten Commandments. They then become pawns of the Illuminati, willing to serve money instead of principle, and carry out iniquities from sexual misdeeds to even murder.

In the Illuminati propaganda arsenal, the greatest tool for destroying faith in God has been Darwin’s theory of evolution. I know some say “I believe in evolution and God.” Nonetheless, countless people have become atheists from being taught the theory as “fact” – I was once one of them.

However, Darwinism cannot be challenged on morals alone. The public has been told evolution is “science,” on a footing with physics and chemistry. Therefore Darwinism must be challenged on scientific grounds.

As author of two books on Darwin’s spurious theory, I know one cannot discredit, in a few paragraphs, an idea which the Illuminati have spent millions to indoctrinate society with. But let’s dent it, shall we?

GENETIC CODE DERIVED FROM CHANCE?

Darwin claimed life began eons ago from chance chemical processes. From the first living cell, all life evolved. This might have been plausible in Darwin’s day, when cells were considered simple. But no longer. Even a bacterial cell requires thousands of different proteins - each composed of hundreds of amino acids in precise order. Francis Crick, who co-discovered DNA’s structure, estimated the odds of getting just ONE protein by chance as one in 10 to the power of 260 – a number beyond imagination.

To function, cells require the genetic code, which is far more complex than Windows 8’s codes. Would anyone argue the latter could derive from chance?

Further, the primordial cell must have perfected – in the span of one lifetime – the process of cellular reproduction; otherwise there never would have been a second cell. Yet, despite mathematic implausibility, and a dearth of supporting evidence, schoolchildren are still taught that life began from a chance arrangement of chemicals.

According to Darwinism, single cells eventually evolved into invertebrates (creatures without backbones like jellyfish), then successively into fish, amphibians, reptiles, and finally mammals. Darwin said this occurred from creatures adapting to environments.

The discovery of genetics threatened this claim. New organs require new genes. Just moving into new environments doesn’t give you new genes.

This initially stumped Darwinists, but they eventually found a solution. Random mutations – copying mistakes in the genetic code – occur very rarely, but DO alter genetic information. So modern evolutionists said animals gained new genes by chance mutations, which made them more fit, and which they adapted to evolve into higher forms.

Dr. Lee Spetner, who taught information theory for years at Johns Hopkins University and the Weizman Institute, discredits this in his book Not by Chance: Shattering the Modern Theory of Evolution. Spetner demonstrates that random mutations destroy genetic information and function – never increase it. Mutations are to the genetic code what typos are to a book. In humans, mutations cause sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis, Down’s syndrome, and thousands of other diseases. Spetner shows that even the rare “beneficial mutations” evolutionists trumpet – such as bacterial resistance to antibiotics – actually result from functional losses.

If, as evolutionists claim, bacteria evolved successively into invertebrates, then fish, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals, there must have been countless “transitional stages.” Think about it. For a fish to become a land creature, turning its fins into legs would require new bones, new muscles, new nerves – and while it was adapting to life on land, a new breathing system. Since this supposedly happened from chance mutations – very rare events – innumerable creatures would have to live and die during the intermediate period.

So where’s EVIDENCE for these transitionals? Not in the living world. Among bacteria, invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles and mammals, there are many thousands of species, but no intermediate species between these groups. That’s one reason why Carl Linnaeus, father of taxonomy (the science that classifies the living world) was a creationist. Evolutionists try to explain the missing intermediates by saying “they all became extinct” (a convenient euphemism for “we ain’t got proof”). A more apt reason for their nonexistence: they never existed.

Evolutionists therefore rely on fossils of extinct creatures as their evidence for these transitional stages. Yet while fossils show variations within types, they do not validate the transitions between major animal groups Darwin’s theory requires.

For example, while billions of invertebrate fossils exist, fossils illustrating their alleged evolution from simple ancestors are missing. Furthermore, the study of fossils has a storied history of error. In 1912, the announcement of “Piltdown Man” led the New York Times to exclaim in a headline: “Darwin Theory Proved True.” For four decades the British Museum displayed this supposedly 500,000-year old “apeman” – until it was exposed as a hoax: an orangutan jaw and human skull had been planted together, stained to look old, with their teeth filed down.

Genuine fossils can be equally deceiving. Evolutionists called the coelacanth – a fossil fish claimed to be extinct for millions of years – a transitional form between fish and amphibians, its fins said to be “limb-like.” Then people started catching live coelacanths, and they were 100 percent fish – no amphibian characteristics. Why are fossils tricky? Because, as molecular biologist Michael Denton notes in Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, 99 percent of an animal’s biology resides in its soft anatomy, which is inaccessible through fossils. This disposes them to subjective interpretations.

Which brings us to our closing point. Evolution is not a science like physics or chemistry, which comprise repeatable, testable knowledge. Water boils at 100 degrees centigrade. This can be tested countless times. If I argued that water boils at 75 degrees, you could easily test and disprove my hypothesis.

But take evolutionary claims. Darwin said we lost our body hair because our apelike ancestors preferred mates with less hair. How do you disprove that? How do you disprove that “Lucy” (fossil bones found in Africa) was our ancestor? Laws of physics and chemistry can be tested in present time. Evolution, however, mostly constitutes opinions about the past, and one cannot test the past with the same authority as the present.

New York City runs risk of bankruptcy like Detroit: Bloomberg

As New York City wrestles with rising pension and health care costs, Mayor Michael Bloomberg has warned that the city runs a real risk of bankruptcy like Detroit.

Detroit’s bankruptcy and the problems facing its pension funds have concerned many states and cities across America with Mayor Bloomberg becoming the latest official to warn that his city may go the way of Detroit.

Detroit in the state of Michigan has become the largest US city to file for bankruptcy over its more than $18 billion debt. Half of the city’s debt comes from pension and retiree health care costs.

Bloomberg called on New York City and its next mayor to address the rising burdens of pensions and healthcare to protect the city from insolvency.

“The next mayor will have an unprecedented opportunity to win pension and health care changes from the City’s labor unions,” he said during a speech Tuesday.

In 2002, pension costs in the city were $1.4 billion, today they are $8 billion a year.

“So clearly, our increase in annual pension costs, which today total more than eight billion US dollars per year, was the result of a benefit structure that promises retirees too much too soon, and requires them to contribute too little to pay for it,” the mayor said.

Bloomberg further warned that manufacturing sector was weakening in New York City which was once one of the manufacturing centers in the United States.

Chicago, the third-largest city in the United States and hometown of President Barack Obama, is also facing a public pension crisis that threatens to upend its finances.

Naked Juice Admits It’s Not So Natural

The PepsiCo brand joins several others involved in lawsuits concerning deceptive health claims.

It’s settled: Those “all-natural” Naked juices that line the shelves in grocery stores’ health-food sections and cost you $4 a pop aren’t actually natural.

PepsiCo recently settled a lawsuit involving its brand Naked Juice for $9 million, admitting that its products weren’t “all natural,” despite being advertised as such on each bottle. Labels also include the phrase, “Only the freshest, purest stuff in the world.” As part of the settlement, PepsiCo announced it will removed those claims from its packaging.

The Natalie Pappas v. Naked Juice Co. of Glendora class-action lawsuit emerged in the fall of 2011. The plaintiff alleged that Naked Juices were hiding GMO and synthetic ingredients, including zinc oxide, ascorbic acid, and calcium pantothenate, which is produced from formaldehyde.

It’s not the first lawsuit against a brand that advertises its all-natural ingredients. In 2011, a lawsuit was filed against Kashi for its use of synthentically produced ingredients despite its “natural” claims. It was slapped with another lawsuit in April 2013 for masking its use of sugar with the term “evaporated cane juice.” The FDA’s current policy on the use of the term states “that sweeteners derived from sugar cane syrup should not be declared as ‘evaporated cane juice’ because that term falsely suggests that the sweeteners are juice.”

And Trader Joe’s is currently involved in two separate lawsuits. The first concerns deceptive labeling, which plaintiffs argue hide the actual quantity of sugar, preservatives, and food coloring; the second states that the grocery chain, along with Whole Foods, Target, and other supermarkets, has been selling candy and snacks that contain high levels of lead.

Scientists have created “electronic foils” that will allow circuits to conform to any surface — or get stretched, bent, and crumpled. The electronics may someday become as common as plastic wrap, researchers say.

In recent years, we’ve seen a number of breakthroughs in softer, flexible electronics. Much of the work is spearheaded by the uber-productive John Rogers, a materials scientist at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A few months ago, Rogers and his colleagues developed stretchy, bendable batteries to power a new generation of flexible displays, solar panels and other devices.

Before that, Rogers helped create the “epidermal electronic system” — a type of small, pliable electronic circuit that can be applied to the skin in a similar manner as the application of a temporary tattoo — and transient electronics that dissolve in the body.

“Rogers’ work is really great,” says Martin Kaltenbrunner, an engineer at the University of Tokyo. But to expand the applications of flexible electronics even more, Kaltenbrunner and his colleagues decided to design bendy circuits that can be cheaply fabricated over a large area. The electronics, the researchers reasoned, would also have to be super thin. “You cannot really wrap current flexible electronics around anything, but if they were really thin, they could even go into the wrinkles of your skin.”

Enter electronic foils.

Using processes common in the semiconductor industry, such as vacuum evaporation and chemical vapor deposition, the scientists manufactured integrated organic circuits onto ultrathin (1 micron) plastic films, also known as polymer foils. As explained in the video below, the electronic foils are just 2 microns thick (one-fifth the thickness of kitchen plastic wrap), 30 times lighter than office paper and have a bend radius of 5 microns, allowing it to be crumpled without harming the circuits. Moreover, given that the plastic films come in huge rolls, the electronic foils can be fabricated cheaply on a large scale.

In their paper, published today in the journal Nature, Kaltenbrunner and his team demonstrated a number of uses for their virtually unbreakable circuits. For example, the researchers built a thin transistor, which they then integrated into a tactile sensor that can conform to uneven surfaces, such as the roof of a person’s mouth.

“If you imagine a person that cannot communicate with anything but their tongue, this would be a nice interface,” Kaltenbrunner tells io9. “They could give yes or no answers by touching different spots of the sensor, and the device can conform so nicely that it wouldn’t be painful to wear.” Another use for such a sensor would be as artificial skin for robots, which would give them touch sensitivity.

The team also built a mini temperature sensor that can adhere to a person’s finger (or any other skin location). The researchers think that in the future, the simple temperature sensor could be implemented into an imperceptible adhesive bandage for health monitoring.

And when the electric foils are sandwiched between elastomers (rubber), the circuits become stretchable and able to withstand a huge amount of strain. “By doing this you can protect the device from mechanical forces and also reduce strain on the device when you bend it around,” Kaltenbrunner says.

In an email to io9, Rogers says the new development is related to his team’s previous work, but the organic semiconductors that make up the circuits offer some advantages, such as low-cost, large-area fabrication. He adds:

The diversity of device examples — from transistors, sensors and circuits to integrated systems — and the unusual properties — featherweight construction and rubberband-like stretchability — are quite remarkable.

These and other recent advances in unusual electronic materials are reshaping the way that we think about interfaces between biological systems and semiconductor technologies. The potential implications for health/wellness monitoring and clinical healthcare are profound.

The healthcare field will no doubt benefit much from the circuits, but Kaltenbrunner sees its applications in a much more general, futuristic light. “I really like the idea of making thin-film plastic electronics that you can place on everything,” he says. “We are getting really close to what I’ve seen in sci-fi movies, where you just touch a surface and it does something.”

McDonalds removes chemical ammonium hydroxide from hamburger recipe

After Chef Jamie Oliver showed how McDonald’s makes its hamburgers, the franchise announced that it will change its recipe.

According to Oliver, the fatty parts of beef are “washed” in ammonium hydroxide and used in the filling of the burger. He says, “Basically, we’re taking a product that would be sold in the cheapest way for dogs, and after this process, is being given to human beings.”

Besides the low quality of the meat, the ammonium hydroxide is harmful to health. Oliver calls it “the pink slime process.”

“Why would any sensible human being put meat filled with ammonia in the mouths of their children?” asked the chef, who wages a war against the fast food industry.

In one initiative to get kids to eat healthier, Oliver demonstrated the process of how McDonald’s makes its chicken nuggets. After selecting the best parts of the chicken, the remains (fat, skin, and internal organs) are processed for these fried foods.

Fast food companies Burger King and Taco Bell have already abandoned their use of ammonia in food products in the United States. Ammonium hydroxide is used in the food industry as an anti-microbial agent in meats, allowing them to sell what would otherwise be “inedible meat.”

Because ammonium hydroxide is used as a “component in a production procedure” and not an official ingredient, companies are not required by the USDA to let consumers know when it is used in their food.

McDonalds has denied a link between James Oliver’s campaign and their decision to change their recipe.

Do Electromagnetic Fields Affect The Pineal Gland, Limiting Human Consciousness?

Today, most people in developed countries are completely connected through cell phones, tablets and computers. Today’s households have an increasing array of electrical devices, from wireless modems to intelligent appliances to smart meters.

Where 50 years ago, 1 electrical outlet per room was sufficient, today, homes have at least 1 outlet per wall on every wall of the house. People are always connected, and figuratively, the world is getting smaller each day.

As the Information Age unfolds, so does information about our exposure to artificial electromagnetic fields (EMF) that many believe can be quite harmful to the human body.

Even if you don’t believe that heavy usage of devices such as cell phones can cause cancer and brain tumors, one must acknowledge the documented proof that electronic devices can disrupt or alter brain function.

“The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classifies electromagnetic fields (EMFs) as ‘possibly carcinogenic’ to humans that might transform normal cells into cancer cells.”

One example of research into the effects of EMF includes a study conducted by Bary W. Wilson et al.

With their findings (Evidence for an Effect of ELF Electromagnetic Fields on Human Pineal Gland Function) published in the Journal of Pineal Research, Wilson et al. examined the possible effects of 60-Hz electromagnetic-field exposure on pineal gland function in humans.

In the study, the researchers measured excretion of urinary 6-hydroxymelatonin sulfate (6-OHMS), a stable urinary metabolite of the pineal hormone melatonin, in 42 individuals who used conventional and continuous polymer wire (CPW) electric blankets for the duration of 8 weeks.

The researchers reported:

Volunteers using conventional electric blankets showed no variations in 6-OHMS excretion as either a group or individuals during the study period. Serving as their own controls, 7 of 28 volunteers using the CPW blankets showed statistically significant changes in their mean nighttime 6-OHMS excretion.

The CPW blankets switched on and off approximately twice as often when in service and produced magnetic fields that were 50% stronger than those from the conventional electric blankets.

On the basis of these findings, we hypothesize that periodic exposure to pulsed DC or extremely low frequency electric or magnetic fields of sufficient intensity and duration can affect pineal gland function in certain individuals.

Another study (Effects of exposure to 16.7 Hz magnetic fields on urinary 6-hydroxymelatonin sulfate excretion of Swiss railway workers) was at the University of Berne in Switzerland on the effects of magnetic fields on 6-OHMS excretion.

This study was based on comparing 6-OHMS levels of 108 male railway workers between leisure periods and days following the start of service on electrically powered engines or working beneath transmission lines.

The findings were similar:

“The results support the hypothesis that 16.7 Hz magnetic fields alter 6-OHMS excretion in humans exposed to magnetic fields.”

Most recently, Malka N. Halgamuge of the University of Melbourne in Australia further examined the effect of man-made EMF on the pineal gland.

Halgamuge states in his research that the pineal gland likely recognizes EMF as light, which consequently would result in reduced melatonin production.

“…the results show the significance of disruption of melatonin due to exposure to weak EMFs, which may possibly lead to long-term health effects in humans.”

The pineal gland is a small part of the body’s endocrine system and is located between the brain’s two hemispheres.

This particular gland secretes melatonin, which is believed to contribute to our effects of well-being and happiness and regulates our sleep/wake cycle. Melatonin is also believed to fight free radicals that can damage neurons.

It is documented that the pineal gland is sensitive to all types of magnetic fields, including geomagnetic fields of the Sun’s solar storms, and also extremely sensitive to tissue calcification, especially when exposed to Fluoride, which is also magnetically attracted to the pineal gland, causing a number of mental disorders.

Ancient cultures and modern and modern spiritualists believe that the pineal gland is the location of the “Third Eye” – the seat of the human soul, as deducted by the French philosopher Rene Descartes, and that it regulates our conscious awareness.

Brain scans reveal that pineal gland activity increases with meditation, and many people also believe that the pineal gland can be tuned into certain frequencies which can result in a sense of euphoria and connection with ‘universal oneness.’

For those who have had modern spiritual experiences, especially after cleansing the pineal gland or when practicing pineal activation exercises, you already know that the body can indeed be tuned to receive certain wavelengths of energy, positive or negative, and that anything that agitates the optimal function of the human body also disrupts the individual’s potential to give and receive positive energy.

If human consciousness is indeed affected by the performance of the pineal gland, and the pineal gland is adversely affected by environmental electro-magnetic radiation, then are we damaging our consciousness with over-exposure to electro-magnetic radiation?

In this light, it would appear that setting up massive public infrastructure that inundates the body and the pineal gland with a chaotic blend of powerful frequencies may be another one of mankind’s great blunders.

Scientists create false memories: what part of Matrix is this?

MIT scientists have found a way to plant a false memory in rats. They can provoke a fear reaction by manipulating the content of neurons in the rat’s brains.

The rats remember something frightening that never happened.

Well, not exactly, if remembering implies a conscious act.

Pavlov did what the MIT scientists did. He used dogs. He got them to drool when he rang a bell signaling it was feeding time, even though there was no food. The dogs “remembered” times when the bell accompanied food.

Conditioned reflex.

But there is something conditioned reflex doesn’t cover. The act of remembering. The knowledge that you are remembering.

Why is this important? Because we’re talking about being conscious, being aware, which, the last time I looked, has something to do with being alive as a human.

Life as conditioned reflex is about machines.

What Pavlov did, what the MIT scientists did, is, on another level, all about a propaganda operation aimed at convincing the masses that life is nothing more than conditioned reflex. One program inserted into the mind is just as good as another program. It just depends what the desired behavioral outcome is.

So we’re talking about tyranny over the mind. Fascism.

“We can get you to remember anything.”

No. They can force conditioned reflexes.

(In a similar way, 12 or 16 years of public education can convince a boy or girl that the world is a bunch of slogans and phony ideals that add up to collectivism as the pinnacle of existence. Planting the reflex just takes longer.)

If you grew up in Miami, and one day, while walking down the street, you realized you had a memory of growing up in India, do you seriously think you’d accept that memory?

Having a memory (passive) and remembering (active) are two vastly different things, if you’re not a machine.

The amount of force (torture) it would take to erase that difference is enormous.

So we’re back in MKULTRA territory. Wholesale conditioning. Coercion. Disorienting drugs. That’s what the famed CIA program was all about.

That’s what it takes to blot out one past and insert another, just for a few hours.

The conscious act of remembering is more than just brain activity. Consciousness is not a function or property of the brain. This isn’t woo-woo stuff. It’s as real as you sitting there reading this, the room you’re in, the light in the room.

Unless someone can talk you out of knowing that. Unless the tidal wave of propaganda about the brain as the center of all knowing can convince you to believe you’re nothing more than brain processes.

Unless you believe that all life in all its variety can always be measured.

In which case, we have the incredible situation of a non-material YOU believing you are only material. If you want a cosmic joke, that’s it. If you want to know something about Matrix, there’s a good starting point.

There is nothing about the brain that can give you the knowledge that you UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF THE WORDS ON THIS PAGE.

The brain does not possess “the understanding of meaning.”

A machine can process information, but it never understands it. A machine can process information and take action based on instructions, but it can never know what it’s doing.

Revving up the complexity of a machine doesn’t make it evolve into consciousness. That’s a fairy tale sold by technocrats. That’s all they’ve got. They’ve abandoned everything else. They’ve abandoned imagination and creative power and the capacity of the individual to invent new realities of all kinds.

The basis of the American Revolution was supposed to be freedom, but of course, if the brain is the center of all knowing and behavior, the brain—which is simply atoms in motion like all other atoms in the universe—contains no freedom at all.

Therefore, the whole idea of freedom is a preposterous hoax, and people, when they argue and fight for freedom, are terminally deluded. They should just stop what they’re doing and lie down and take it.

Take whatever program is jammed into their brains.

If the morons at MIT had any self-knowledge and courage, they’d stop what they were doing. They’d shut down the lab. They’d stop bothering the rats. They’d access the open sky of their own imaginations. They’d create something. They might figure out how to launch a revolution that could take back the freedoms we’ve lost. They might become artists. They’d give their materialistic bullshit a rest.

They’d realize they’re alive and conscious. They’d realize this has nothing to do with their brains. They’d realize they’ve been living in a psychotic state, believing on the one hand that all the particles that make up the universe have no life in them—and on the other hand, believing that those same particles, when arranged in something called the brain suddenly give rise to everything called life in humans.

It’s a matrix of contradiction, a loop in the labyrinth where science lives, where science tries to enlist everyone else in its primary illusion.

DHS ‘Constitution Free’ Zones Inside US Ignored By Media

In what should be front page news blasted out nationwide as a breaking news alert, the DHS has openly established extensive ‘Constitution free zones’ in which your Fourth Amendment does not exist.

It’s not ‘conspiracy’ and it’s not fraud, the DHS has literally created an imaginary ‘border’ within the United States that engulfs 100 miles from every single end of the nation. Within this fabricated ‘border’, the DHS can search your electronic belongings for no reason. We’re talking about no suspicion, no reasonable cause, nothing. No reason whatsoever is required under their own regulations. The DHS is now above the Constitution under their own rules, and even Wired magazine authors were amazed at the level of pure tyranny going on here.

This ‘border’ even includes where the US land meets oceans in addition to legitimate borders with Mexico and Canada. As a result, you have over 197 million citizens suffocated in these 100 mile ‘border zones’ that include major cities like New York City, Houston, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. What’s even more amazing, is that this has been going on since 2008. That’s about 5 years of absolute unconstitutional abuse of power by the Department of Homeland Security that the media fails to even document. That’s 197 million citizens living without a Constitution as far as the DHS is concerned, and apparently the Department of Justice (DOJ) must be pretty content too. Amazingly, no one has challenged this besides the ACLU, which was contacted following the case of a man who was actually detained within the 100 mile ‘border’ area.

Not only was this man’s laptop searched for no reason, as is ‘allowed’ under DHS code now, but they ended up finding pictures designated to be linked up with ‘terrorist’ groups. In response, the man was thrown in a cell while DHS agents went through every piece of data on his entire laptop. The ACLU is now suing over this event, but there’s no telling how the case will go with such limited media exposure. The DHS is literally gutting the Constitution and declaring itself higher than the law of the land by doing this, and it spells out major trouble for the entire Bill of Rights at large.

DHS Dismisses Constitution, Bill of Rights

Because if the DHS can simply ‘overrule’ the Fourth Amendment for 197 million citizens, it can also ‘overrule’ the First and Second Amendments as well. What’s stopping them? It’s highly illegal under the Constitution, but it appears they truly don’t care. And to demonstrate just how little they truly care, they have even gone and ‘reviewed’ themselves for their own actions following outcry from some legal experts.

To break it down: back in 2008 there was outrage from those who actually value the Constitution and understand how the bloated DHS entity works, so the DHS promised to prove within 120 days that what they were doing was constitutional and legal. Years later, the report came out to reveal that the DHS actually reviewed itself and determined that it was acting 100% properly. It also founds that everything it was doing was ‘constitutional’ because it was not actually removing the Constitution from United States soil, only the ‘border’.

The ‘border’ that expands 100 miles and includes 197 million people.

This news should be on the front page of every single news organization in the world, but the sad reality is that it’s not. It’s up to the alternative news, the real news, to report on this. It’s up to me to make videos about this, it’s up to the alternative news to syndicate it out, and it’s up to you to share this. It’s time to reclaim our Constitution and tell the DHS we won’t live in Constitution free zones any longer.

August 6 marks 68 years since the United States committed what is arguably the single gravest act of terrorism that the world has ever known. Terrorism means the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians, and targeted they were, with the cutely named “Little Boy” atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima at a location and time of day when, as the Strategic Bombing Survey commissioned by President Harry Truman conceded, “nearly all the school children … were at work in the open,” a perfect opportunity for mass incineration.

“That fateful summer, 8:15,” the mayor of Hiroshima recalled at a memorial service in 2007, “the roar of a B-29 breaks the morning calm. A parachute opens in the blue sky. Then suddenly, a flash, an enormous blast—silence—hell on earth. The eyes of young girls watching the parachute were melted. Their faces became giant charred blisters. The skin of people seeking help dangled from their fingernails. … Others died when their eyeballs and internal organs burst from their bodies. Hiroshima was a hell where those who somehow survived envied the dead. Within the year, 140,000 had died.”

It was followed three days later by the “Fat Man” bomb leveling Nagasaki, with a comparable disastrous impact on a largely civilian population that had no effective control over the decisions of the emperor who initiated the war. Nagasaki was a last- minute substitute for Kyoto, which Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson ordered spared because he had fond memories of his honeymoon in that city a couple of decades earlier. The devastation of those two cities was so gruesome that our government banned the showing of film footage depicting the carnage we had caused.

We have never been very good at challenging our nation’s own reprehensible behavior, but if we don’t take proper measure of the immense extermination wrought by two small and primitive nuclear weapons as compared with today’s arsenals, we lose the point as to why they must be banned. We are the country that designed and exploded these weapons that are inherently implements of terrorism in that, as the nuking of Japan amply demonstrated, they cannot distinguish between civilian and combatant.

For those who believe that honorable ends absolve a nation of evil means, there is the argument that the bombings shortened the war, although the preponderance of more recent evidence would hold that the Soviet entrance into the war against Japan two days after Hiroshima was a more decisive factor.

But the basic assumption of universal opposition to terrorism is a rejection of the notion that even noble means justify ignoble ends, and a consistent opposition to the proliferation, let alone use of nuclear weapons, must insist that they are inherently anti-civilian and therefore immoral.

Why, then, on this anniversary, do we not acknowledge our responsibility as the nation that first created these weapons, has been the only country to use them, and is still in possession of the biggest repository of such weapons of mass destruction on earth? Is it not unwise, as well as wrong, for Aug. 6 to pass, as it generally does, without any widespread discussion of our culpability for the vast death in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

Indeed, in Santa Monica, Calif., home of one of the rare reminders of the catastrophe we unleashed, a sculpture of a mushroom cloud, designed by three-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Paul Conrad, is slated for destruction by a city council that claims it does not have funding for needed repairs.

That sculpture, called “Chain Reaction,” was given to the city in 1991 thanks to the beneficence of Joan Kroc, the widow of the founder of McDonald’s, who used her fortune to advance the cause of public enlightenment. It is a grim warning that the best educated can commit the most heinous of crimes, and its placement opposite the RAND Corp., a faux intellectual outpost of the military-industrial complex, adds historic significance to a landmark designated municipal work of art that is now threatened with extinction.

Conrad, world famous as the editorial cartoonist for The Denver Post and Los Angeles Times for four decades, was himself a veteran of the war in the Pacific, one of those whose life the bomb was ostensibly designed to save. Conrad joined the Army in 1942 and participated in the invasions of Guam and Okinawa, where he was stationed at the time of the Hiroshima bombing.

His sentiment about that horrific event is inscribed on his powerful sculpture: “This is a statement of peace. May it never become an epitaph.”

Conrad’s critically important sculpture might soon be gone. As a nation, we excel at obliterating reminders of our own failings.

Has An Ancient Giant Handprint Been Found In A Cave In Nevada?

Something really weird has been found on the wall of a cave in Nevada, and it is shaking a lot of people up. Two paranormal investigators named MK Davis and Don Monroe claim to have stumbled upon the handprint of an ancient giant in Lovelock Cave, and the pictures that have been released to the public are absolutely startling. If this handprint is real, it is estimated that it would have belonged to someone 18 feet all. And what makes all of this even more compelling is that there is a very old Native American tradition that says that a tribe of red-haired giants was burned inside that cave a very long time ago. So could we actually be looking at solid evidence that the old Native American tradition about the red-haired giants is actually real?

There has been a tremendous amount of interest in this particular cave going all the way back to 1911. At that time, two guano miners claimed that they discovered several sets of giant bones inside the cave…

In 1911 David Pugh and James Hart, two guano miners (yes, mining bat poo is really a thing) were excavating a cave on the eastern side of Nevada when they found something intriguing buried under 250 tons of excrement.

According to the men’s bizarre tale, hidden beneath six feet of bat crap they discovered several sets of giant bones, remains which many now believe belong to the Si-Te-Cah, a storied Paiute tribe of red-haired cannibal giants. Legend has it that the last remaining giants were burned alive inside the cave thousands of years ago.

Unfortunately, nobody knows where those bones are today, and without hard evidence the excitement over that cave subsided over the years.

But now this discovery by MK Davis and Don Monroe is renewing interest in Lovelock cave. According to Paranormal Geeks Radio, this handprint has a number of characteristics that point to it being authentic…

This knife and its sheath have been used to get a measurement. It is 18 inches. Look at Don’s hand compared to print! If the proportions are equal to regular humans, this being would be 18 feet tall!

Besides what appears to be dermal ridges showing in the soot/fat mix that appears to be the basis of this hand print (from the cave ceiling and further legitimizing the story of a conflagration with the giants inside), the impression shows more pressure on the thenar eminence of the palm and the first three fingers, which is typical for anyone pushing or lifting something heavy (just hold your hands in front of your head as if you’re cradling a boulder – the inner aspect of your hand settles that weight).

But this isn’t the only discovery of this nature that has come out in recent years.

Last year, a German news source broke the story of a 15 inch long human finger that had been photographed in Egypt. The photographs of the finger were reportedly taken by a researcher named Gregor Spörri in 1988. The finger appeared to have been mummified, and from top to bottom it was approximately 15 inches long. According to the German news source, it is estimated that the creature that this finger came from would have been about 16 feet tall.

This really is a remarkable photo. If you look closely, you can even see where the fingernail would have been…

Unfortunately, nobody knows where this finger is today. Spörri said that he had to pay “an old man from a grave robber dynasty” 300 dollars to see the finger and take photographs of it. And since 1988 there have been no other reports of this finger.

Another very strange piece of evidence that has gotten a lot of attention in recent years is “Goliath’s Footprint” in South Africa. It is a footprint that is approximately 4 feet long, and it is located near the town of Mpaluzi, which is close to the Swaziland border. A picture of Goliath’s Footprint can be seen below…

If you look carefully at the photograph, you can even see that there were five toes and that the big toe was the largest of the toes.

So what does all of this mean?

Did extremely large giants once roam the ancient world?

To many, such a notion is completely absurd, but the truth is that there are a whole host of ancient stories and legends that claim that giants once existed on this planet.

And even the Bible makes such a claim. In Genesis 6:4, we read the following…

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

In 2001, the Patriot Act opened the door to US government monitoring of Americans without a warrant. It was unconstitutional, but most in Congress over my strong objection were so determined to do something after the attacks of 9/11 that they did not seem to give it too much thought. Civil liberties groups were concerned, and some of us in Congress warned about giving up our liberties even in the post-9/11 panic. But at the time most Americans did not seem too worried about the intrusion.

This complacency has suddenly shifted given recent revelations of the extent of government spying on Americans. Politicians and bureaucrats are faced with serious backlash from Americans outraged that their most personal communications are intercepted and stored. They had been told that only the terrorists would be monitored. In response to this anger, defenders of the program have time and again resorted to spreading lies and distortions. But these untruths are now being exposed very quickly.

In a Senate hearing this March, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told Senator Ron Wyden that the NSA did not collect phone records of millions of Americans. This was just three months before the revelations of an NSA leaker made it clear that Clapper was not telling the truth. Pressed on his false testimony before Congress, Clapper apologized for giving an “erroneous” answer but claimed it was just because he “simply didn’t think of Section 215 of the Patriot Act.” Wow.

As the story broke in June of the extent of warrantless NSA spying against Americans, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers assured us that the project was a strictly limited and not invasive. He described it as a “lockbox with only phone numbers, no names, no addresses in it, we’ve used it sparingly, it is absolutely overseen by the legislature, the judicial branch and the executive branch, has lots of protections built in…”

But we soon discovered that also was not true either. We learned in another Guardian newspaper article last week that the top secret “X-Keyscore” program allows even low-level analysts to “search with no prior authorization through vast databases containing emails, online chats and the browsing histories of millions of individuals.”

The keys to Rogers’ “lockbox” seem to have been handed out to everyone but the janitors! As Chairman of the Committee that is supposed to be most in the loop on these matters, it seems either the Intelligence Community misled him about their programs or he misled the rest of us. It sure would be nice to know which one it is.

Likewise, Rep. Rogers and many other defenders of the NSA spying program promised us that this dragnet scooping up the personal electronic communications of millions of Americans had already stopped “dozens” of terrorist plots against the United States. In June, NSA director General Keith Alexander claimed that the just-disclosed bulk collection of Americans’ phone and other electronic records had “foiled 50 terror plots.”

Opponents of the program were to be charged with being unconcerned with our security.

But none of it was true.

The Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday heard dramatic testimony from NSA deputy director John C. Inglis. According to the Guardian:

“The NSA has previously claimed that 54 terrorist plots had been disrupted ‘over the lifetime’ of the bulk phone records collection and the separate program collecting the internet habits and communications of people believed to be non-Americans. On Wednesday, Inglis said that at most one plot might have been disrupted by the bulk phone records collection alone.”

From dozens to “at most one”?

Supporters of these programs are now on the defensive, with several competing pieces of legislation in the House and Senate seeking to rein in an administration and intelligence apparatus that is clearly out of control. This is to be commended. What is even more important, though, is for more and more and more Americans to educate themselves about our precious liberties and to demand that their government abide by the Constitution. We do not have to accept being lied to – or spied on — by our government.

Most music worldwide has been tuned to 440 hertz since the International Standards Organization (ISO) endorsed it in 1953. New bill aims to make ‘smart’ meters mandatory for entire nation

There is a sinister agenda underway to forcibly convert every standard electric meter in the U.S. to the “smart” variety under the guise of promoting renewable energy interests. And one of the latest pieces of Trojan horse legislation pushing for this ominous transformation is the Smart Grid Advancement Act of 2013, introduced by Representative Jerry McNerney (D-Cal.) and co-authored by Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-Penn.), which would force utilities all across the country to convert their customers to smart meters.

The new bill, as stated in a recent press release posted on Rep. McNerney’s website, would require virtually all energy utility companies nationwide to implement so-called “smart grid technologies,” which in turn would require the installation of smart meters on customers’ homes and businesses. Smart meters, as you may already be aware, contain wireless communication components that are not only a serious threat to human health, but also a monumental detriment to personal privacy.

But crafty politicians like Rep. McNerney and Rep. Cartwright are couching the technology as a viable way to help save people money by lowering their electricity bills. This explanation, of course, is meant to divert attention away from the not-so-enticing fact that the technology is really nothing more than a massive, interconnected government spying and control apparatus.

“[The bill] would apparently require all electricity providers, including rural cooperatives and municipal utilities, to join the ‘smart’ grid and install ‘smart’ meters,” explains the energy freedom advocacy group StopSmartMeters.org.
What else does this inauspicious bill aim to accomplish? According to a summary of the bill, posted as H.R. 2685 at GovTrack.us — you need to read between the lines to really understand what is being stated in this summary — certified Energy Star appliances and other energy-saving products will be required to contain wireless technologies capable of communicating with both energy providers and potentially even the government.

“[T]he bill would require appliances with the Energy Star label to include wireless transmitters that cannot be turned off, in order to communicate (and presumably cough up your private data and respond to orders from Big Brother Smart Grid to switch you off at a moment’s notice, as happened to dozens of people in Northern California recently when their not-so-smart-AC program cut off their air conditioning at the height of the recent heat wave,” adds StopSmartMeters.org.
“The bill would also establish a ‘smart grid information center’ that would presumably create pro-smart-grid propaganda at the taxpayer’s expense.”

Smart meters exposed as part of NSA ‘PRISM’ spying scam

Even worse is the fact that Landis Gyr, a major smart meter manufacturer that describes itself as a “world leader” in smart grid technology, let the cat out of the bag that the National Security Agency (NSA), which we now know actively spies on innocent Americans’ phone calls and text messages, also uses smart meters to spy on Americans.
Thanks to a NaturalNews reader tip, we learned that Landis Gyr recently had a company voicemail message that admitted smart meter technology is part of the NSA’s “PRISM” spying and surveillance program. Since gaining national attention about this admission, Landis Gyr has apparently altered its company voicemail message to omit this indicting information.

Tesla Hyperloop Train Can Travel At 4000 mph

The Tesla Motors co-founder called the fast train “a cross between a Concorde and a railgun and an air hockey table” at the D11 Conference earlier this year. The pneumatic tube train system will be “twice as fast as what an average aircraft can do.”

Once constructed, the Hyperloop will leave as soon as passengers board as opposed to running on a strict schedule. The train will also be weather immune which might put a damper on some people who still enjoy the occasional snow day.

Some are calling Musk’s idea pure insanity, but others including physicist Brian Dodson of Gizmag, are willing to give the Hyperloop a chance after examining all of its’ parts.

Dodson ruled out two theories that the Hyperloop will use a vacuum tunnel or a launch loop that accelerates vehicles electromagnetically along a cable system.

Instead, he believes Musk’s proposal is actually “a pneumatic transport system that consists of a closed tube making loops between Los Angeles and San Francisco” according to Discovery News.

English please? Essentially, passengers will ride in capsules within the tube similar to pneumatic tubes at bank drive-throughs.

“Even if I’m sort of wrong about the economic assumptions behind the Hyperloop, it would still be a really fun ride,” Musk said at the conference.

The Hyperloop still faces many challenges and hopefully questions will be answered come August 12.

Internet Service Providers In The U.S., Canada, Australia and U.K. Plan Censorship Strategies For All Customers By 2014

When censorship fails there is always a fallback strategy to muzzle the population – going straight to the source. In this case internet service providers (ISPs) are the companies that offer users around the world access to the Internet. There are many websites which pursue censorship strategies to prevent specific information from getting through to the public domain. Google, facebook, youtube are among many of the largest sites in the world which employ sophisticated information suppression techniques. The problem is, it hasn’t worked very well, so ISPs now plan to block specific websites and search terms they consider offensive under the guise of initiatives to block pornography and other sexually offensive material. But it won’t stop there.

Just two years ago, a University of British Columbia Professor made headlines when he stated that censorship has become a worldwide norm and that new laws will control what you read or see on the internet. Not many paid attention to him, but they are now.

Ron Deibert (PhD, University of British Columbia) is Associate Professor of Political Science, and Director of the Canada Centre for Global Security Studies and the Citizen Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto.

As a political scientist at U of T he was involved in several collaborative cyberspace R&D projects. He is also a co-founder and a principal investigator of the Information Warfare Monitor and OpenNet Initiative projects. Mr Deibert will be speaking at SC Congress Canada in June.

“We hold a mirror to state-based and other forms of Internet filtering, going back to 2002,” he said. “Every year we test in over 70 countries using field research and technical interrogation methods.”

Generally speaking in the early part of 2000s, governments either didn’t care or were oblivious to what was happening on the Internet. Today censorship has become a worldwide norm. In addition countries are applying next generation controls.

“They’re engaging in offensive activities and surveillance implementing new laws that bring in a climate of censorship, and in some cases forcing ISPs to do the policing for them.”

By controlling the flow media, nations have learned how to control the flow of information. Regardless of whether its attempting to convince the masses that the sun is bad for us or mercury, radiation, plutonium and pesticides are good for us, they’re all lies to manipulate public opinion.

China has taken things one step further which could be a sign that other nations will follow in due time.

Prime Minister David Cameron has announced that by the end of 2013, most households in the UK will have pornography blocked by their internet provider unless they choose to receive it. The new measures will apply to both existing and new customers. Mr Cameron also called for some “horrific” internet search terms to be “blacklisted”, meaning they would automatically bring up no results on websites such as Google or Bing.

He also warned he could have to “force action” by changing the law and that, if there were “technical obstacles”, firms should use their “greatest brains” to overcome them. Does this sound familiar?

What Cameron is not revealing is that the technical infrastructure for internet censorship has been planned worldwide for more than 8 years in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia and several other developed nations and it won’t stop at pornography. For example, the largest industries in the world will be able to bid to have specific terms axed and it will be as simple as adding those terms to complex algorithms to ensure they don’t produce results from websites which contain negative information about their products or services.

Want to find out more about the dangers of pasteurized milk? Or what about information related to vaccines and the relationship to autism? Genetically modified foods? They will all be axed or the filters will steer the user towards information that floods results with opinions from the mainstream arena.

True health claims for natural health will be restricted. It doesn’t matter what textbooks or research may say. If ISPs are instructed to axe a specific term or series of terms, you simply won’t see them come up. This is an act of censorship, in violation of the “freedom of thought, belief, and expression” guaranteed by the constitutional rights and freedoms of every nation.

Analysts who study technology trends see the censorship happening all over the world. “This is not something confined to strictly one or two nations,” said technology expert Wilfred Pande. “The U.S., Canada, and Europe are all seeing some level of censorship on the internet and television which prevents users from seeing or hearing specific information their governments do not want them to hear.”

Even the most open, democratic governments have sought laws and new forms of surveillance that many see as a new wave of censorship — and that includes the United States.

The U.S. government asked Google for data on its users more than 31,000 times in 2012 alone, for example. And the government rarely obtained a search warrant first, Google recently revealed; in nearly all cases, the company ended up turning over at least some data.

The heightened surveillance is enforced under the guise of protecting intellectual property rights, preventing cyberespionage, fighting child pornography, and protecting national interests such as nuclear power plants from hackers.

The Canadian government proposed Bill C-30, known as the Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act. Proponents claimed the measure was designed to combat the exploitation of children, but it required Internet service providers to create monitoring systems that would allow the police to intercept and track all online communications — without a warrant. The public reaction was so fiercely opposed to Bill C-30 that Canadian authorities were forced to withdraw it earlier this year.

Just last month, Australia’s corporate watchdog admitted to inadvertently blocking access to about 250,000 innocuous websites in addition to the 1200 it had already accidentally censored.

ASIC made the concession in a statement at an senate estimates hearing after it caused controversy by interpreting a 15-year-old law in the Telecommunications Act as giving it the ability to block websites.

“When we started there were only a handful of countries that filtered Internet content. Now there are over 30. Many are imposing requirements on ISPs to filter access to content. Not only is it legitimate for governments to intervene, but also they’re becoming more aggressive.”

Which leads to another factor — the militarization of the Internet. There’s a lot of hype and exaggeration about the idea of cyberwar. Yet there’s a ripple effect. With the creation of the US military Cyber Command it is now overt.

“What’s different is that armed forces of governments are tasked with building doctrines to fight and win wars in this domain,” said Mr Deibert. “Many of these governments are looking to the underworld of cybercrime to give them an advantage. Both the attacks on Estonia and Russian-Georgian conflict involved the exploitation of cybercrime that were directed by Russian authorities, and also piled on by well-known criminal botnets.”

There is an arms race in cyberspace, and criminals are caught up in it.

“Now we have huge cold war behemoths partaking. That alone is an important force. Not just in terms of how the market is organized by defense expenditures, but also by the technology — deep packet inspection or computer exploitation tools.”

At least four countries including Canada, the United States, Australia and the U.K plan to ensure the ISP blocks are in place by 2014.

Why Is This Happening?

Because the greatest powers that run the mainstream media expected that people would continue to prescribe to the doctrine of television which is completely owned and controlled by corporatism. However, the internet is now overtaking mainstream opinion. It’s a game changer of monumental proportions. People are finding out the truth by the millions and it’s spreading like wildfire on the internet. Isn’t it too late then to implement this strategy? I would state a resounding yes.

It is subtly communicated that one should stay within the collective and never challenge the message, for doing so may be considered an aggression towards culture. The message is, “Be a good consumer; always obey authority; you know nothing; listen only to experts; be content and never question or express new ideas.” This signal is being broadcast across millions of screens, indoctrinating the unconscious minds of those who choose this as their only reality. Self-censorship occurs when these individuals become so deeply indoctrinated that they are afraid to discuss any information outside the paradigm of television-created culture; they police their thoughts to ensure they won’t conflict with this culture. Sadly, many people’s reality today does not allow any outside information to process, instead it is written off as conspiracy or blatant lies. Our consciousness has been destroyed so much that fiction has become reality. An entire lifestyle of poisonous foods, pharmaceuticals, and fluoridated water are accepted as safe and sold to us at the cost of our health and well being.

Advertisers and psychologists of the billion dollar culture creation industry manufacture trends through the proliferation of insecurities; and manipulating desires and emotions. These concepts are also employed to control how individuals think about politics, as well as the possibilities and limitations within society. Those welding power within our streams of mass communication market their plans into each generation as individuals adopt specific ways of thinking and never suspect that all the major events and trends within their lifetime are actually planned by an elite few before they are even born. In our society today, culture is created from the top down. Virtually all forms of culture are created by the ruling class to build a false sense of reality, ensure social compliance, and control the future course of cultural evolution.

Predictive programming is a tool used by the establishment to acclimate the public to new ideas, trends, beliefs, and threats. It is used through television by including certain situations or ideas within the plots of many fictional shows, familiarizing the viewer with these concepts no matter what they may be watching. When similar situations occur or like ideas are circulated in the world we think that these particular things are quite natural for we have unknowingly been made familiar with them through television. By viewing nearly any popular show on television, one can see the same propaganda that will be aired on the nightly news. Propaganda on a wide array of subjects has been interwoven into a great number of television shows. Just a few of these subjects include global warming, vaccinations, torture, terrorism, national security, the militarization of police, and the degradation of the family unit. Through predictive programming, television shapes culture and prevents individuals from asking questions.

Primary Source of News Is Now The Internet

The primary source of news and information is the Internet, by far and the alternative media is taking over. Less than one third of people use television to get their news, while less than 10 percent turn to radio or newspapers.

Research has shown that some people are unable to make appropriate lifestyle changes because they are lacking in knowledge of medical issues. In fact, one in five people – 19 percent – admit they have ‘no idea’ if their diet is healthy, and half are clueless as to the benefits of eating fruit and vegetables. Where do you think they turn to when they have questions?

A significant 56 percent of 25 to 34-year-olds consult the internet for health advice, and just 16 percent go to their doctor.

According to Andrew Liu, head researcher for the Online Diagnosis Project, “the internet is now the primary point of inquiry for adults and even teenagers with health concerns, and the accuracy of self-diagnosing online is quite surprising,” said Liu.

The most common inquiry is searching for symptoms and seeking natural therapies for those symptoms. Liu says this is the most impressive part of his research. “What is most remarkable is that people are not self-medicating with black market drugs, but they are seeking alternative therapies, treatment, supplementation, herbs, and natural remedies to cure or ease their condition,” he added.

More than 78% of men and women seeking health advice from the internet can properly diagnose their condition in less than 8 minutes.

The internet is changing the entire landscape for medical opinion and diagnoses. People are taking power into their own hands when it comes to their health and governments, big pharma and the medical community can’t stand it.

It’s one of the biggest reasons the internet must be censored and filtered to give big business an edge.

People are finally realizing that they cannot be informed about the realities of the world by biased news sources that currently dominate media. The only way to get any truth about world issues and your health is to research unbiased, independent news sources which have little or no influence from direct advertisers, with no revenue and financial incentives from outside organizations. The biggest problem with mainstream media, is that it is controlled by half a dozen conglomerates which influence every single editorial decision made. They plan to translate this control to the internet, but it can’t and won’t work the same way, regardless of the technology put forth.

There are too many ingenius technology enthusiasts that have defeated every technology system ever invented and known to censor information. If blocks from ISPs are implemented, millions will change the internet as we know it to something else. This is an information war that we will win. I guarantee it.

Selective silencing: Was Michael Hastings murdered?

Based on my research as a professionally licensed investigator with nearly 30 years of experience, I wish to be on record that it is my professional opinion that investigative journalist Michael Hastings was murdered. It was exactly one month ago today, on June 18, 2013 that Hastings, 33, was killed in a single vehicle crash in the darkest hours of the night on a deserted Los Angeles city street. According to official reports, Mr. Hastings was the driver and sole occupant of a 2013 model CLK250 Mercedes Benz traveling south on Highland Avenue at a high rate of speed when he reportedly struck a palm tree located in the median on Highland Avenue, near the intersection of Melrose, at 4:20 a.m. Pacific Time. Also according to official reports, Mr. Hastings’ vehicle burst into flames upon impact, incinerating the vehicle and everything inside, including his body.

Michael Hastings was a correspondent for Newsweek and extensively covered the war in Iraq. He was also a reporter for BuzzFeed and a contributing editor to Rolling Stone Magazine. It was in 2010 when he gained widespread attention for his profile of General Stanley McChrystal, then-commander of NATO’s security force in Afghanistan, in a revealing report titled “The Runaway General.” It was this report that led to the general’s resignation for his contemptuous remarks about Barack Hussein Obama and Joseph Biden.

Although Mr. Hastings became well known for that article and reportedly received at least one credible death threat as a result, I do not believe that it was his previous work that led to his tragic and untimely death. The following will explain why.

Collaborative effort revealed

For the first time, I can publicly reveal that I’ve been working with a very experienced and well-respected professional investigator based in Los Angeles and licensed by the state of California. We began our collaboration on Friday, June 21, 2013 – about 72 hours after Mr. Hastings’ death. Since then, we’ve spent about 44 collective man-hours investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash that took the life of Mr. Hastings.

As our investigation is continuing and to avoid potentially compromising our continued efforts, we agreed that revealing his identity at this time would not be in the best interests of this investigation or for the security of those involved. After a review of findings to date, however, we agreed that an interim investigative report should be published.

Although this investigation has been a collaborative effort and we agree on the findings my Los Angeles based colleague requested complete anonymity, including interim references to any individual or collective analysis of findings. Therefore, the statements made in this report will be made in the first-person singular, with this writer presenting the findings as the public point of contact.

Summary of interim investigative findings

Based on careful analysis of the findings of all research and investigation conducted to date, it is my professional belief that investigative journalist Michael Hastings was murdered. This assertion is made based on extensive analysis of the crash site (in person, on-site analysis as well as a review of the photographic documentation taken at the time of the incident that exists both in and outside of public purview), statements made by associates of Mr. Hastings, and a number of other factors relating to the official investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, the coroner’s office, and other agencies and departments involved in the official investigation.

Associated with the above and contrary to public statements, it appears that the FBI, including but not limited to the U.S. Department of Justice might have played a role in directing parts of the official LAPD investigation. There is also an indication that the Department of Justice possibly sought and subsequently obtained certain records produced by the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles Fire Department, as well as documentation produced by the coroner’s office.

Additionally, it is my professional opinion that his death was the direct result of research being conducted by Mr. Hastings concurrent with or at the time of his death. While there have been references made to at least one credible death threat related to his 2010 report pertaining to General Stanley McChrystal, nothing was found to suggest any direct connection between that threat or subject and his death.

According to most recent investigative findings, it appears that Mr. Hastings made multiple contacts with sources directly associated with the illegal NSA domestic spying program, and either recently acquired materials and/or information about the extent of, the targets of, and the recipients of the information of domestic spying program. It is speculated that the latter information was of particular concern to as yet unidentified individuals holding positions of authority within the U.S. Department of Defense and their subcontractors, as well as certain parties within the Executive branch of the United States government. Investigation and research suggests that Mr. Hastings might have obtained, or arranged to obtain information pertaining to the role of a particular high-ranking officer within the U.S. military overseeing the domestic aspects of the NSA project.

Additionally and relevant to the circumstances surrounding his death, I believe that Michael Hastings knew, or had reason to know, that he was under both investigation and surveillance of the FBI as well as the NSA at the time of his death. According to information provided to this investigator, at least two agents reportedly representing the FBI contacted an associate of Michael Hastings for information related to his current and recent activities sometime between June 3rd-7th 2013.

These allegations appear to be substantiated by the following e-mail sent by Michael Hastings to two or more of his known associates immediately before his death (note: E-mail headers have been removed):

It is important to note that following the death of Mr. Hastings, Laura Eimiller, FBI spokesperson based in the Los Angeles field office, emphatically denied that Mr. Hastings was under investigation at the time of his death. It must be emphasized that this denial is in direct contradiction to Mr. Hastings’ e-mail.

In addition to the above, research and investigation into the anomalies of the vehicle crash, including but not limited to the debris field and location of the components of Mr. Hastings’ vehicle, the actions of his vehicle immediately preceding impact were reviewed. Based on this review and information obtained from sources within the area of the incident, it is possible that a previously unreferenced vehicle operated by an unknown individual might have played a contributing role in this incident. The general location of that vehicle was positioned well ahead of Mr. Hastings’ vehicle, and is believed to have been stopped near the intersection of Melrose. Investigation into this aspect of the incident is ongoing.

Notations

There has been much speculation about the cause of the vehicle fire itself, including its actual cause, its intensity, and burn patterns. While fires sometimes happen as a consequence of or secondary to collisions, analysis of both open source still photographs and video, along with a review of photos not publicly accessible are cause for concern regarding the exact cause of the fire. This matter, along with the post-autopsy disposition of Mr. Hastings’ body (cremation) will be addressed in a follow-up report.

There has also been much speculation related to the location of the vehicle’s engine and drive train following impact. This issue is presently undergoing further analysis based on related but unreleased documentation. Assessment of this aspect of the crash will be made public in a follow-up report.

The lack of skid marks from the vehicle’s tires leading to the area of impact was found to be of significance based on analysis of this scene. This will be also addressed in greater detail in the follow-up report as well.

New Survey: only 15% of farmers would eat GMO food

The British survey was funded by Barclays Bank and done in collaboration with Farmers Weekly.

Only 15% of farmers polled said they would eat GMO food. Talk about a blanket rejection. It can’t get much clearer than that.

Obviously, these backward farmers want to protect their own health. Who ever heard of such a thing! How dare they! They’re supposed to follow the party line. They’re supposed to say, “Yum yum, give me some GM.”

Well, funny things happen when people consider their own bodies. They tell you what they really think.

You see, 61% of the farmers said they’d grow GMO crops “if they had the opportunity.” In other words, they’d willingly endanger other people’s health, but not their own.

“Just business, nothing personal.”

Reminds me of the idea of sending government officials who declare war into the field with weapons.

“No, I said the war was necessary. I didn’t say I’d risk my own life out there with all those crazies running around. Besides, I suffer from migraines and my doctor told me I have to avoid stress.”

Or: “Everybody is hereby ordered to go on the Obamacare plan. Except those of us in the Congress who have our own plan.”

The farmers survey should have included the following questions, for the 61% of farmers who said they’d grow GMO crops if given the chance: “Would you eat what you sell every day of your life?”

“And if not, what is wrong with you?”

On a related note, we have this from Mike Adams at Natural News: “Polls were taken by accomplished scientists at the McGill Cancer Center from 118 doctors who are all experts on cancer. They asked the doctors to imagine they had cancer and to choose from six different ‘experimental’ therapies. These doctors not only denied chemo choices, but they said they wouldn’t allow their family members to go through the process either!”

Oh, and lest I forget, we have the famous vaccine proponent, Dr. Paul Offit, who said babies can handle “10,000 vaccines at once.” Well, since babies have only partially developed immune systems and Offit is an adult, I’d be willing to take a crash course in how to give an injection and pop Offit with 10,000 vaccines, as a test. Why not? What could go wrong?

And while I’m at it—all those clinical trials of new drugs using volunteers who don’t have a clue about what they’re getting into? Seems only fair to include the researchers who developed the drugs and other doctors and pharmaceutical execs as volunteers in the trials. In fact, they should be first in line. If they fall over dead or develop life-threatening conditions, then everyone else will know there’s a slight problem.

Moving along, if the government is spying on all of us, for our own good, and in order to protect the country, then we should spy on them for the same reasons. Let them experience their own programs up close and personal. Long ago, when funding for NSA started to accelerate into the wild blue yonder, the Congress should have offered themselves up on a platter, to set a good example.

“You boys know our phone numbers, email addresses, and where we live and play. So please, spy on us 24/7, because we’re about to let you do it to all Americans.”

No? Am I missing something here? Don’t government officials endanger the nation? Haven’t they already proved that over and over? Shouldn’t they be watched carefully, as you would watch wild animals in a zoo?

The examples keep multiplying, don’t they? Oil spills, radiation leaks from nuclear reactors. Why aren’t the heads of companies and governments involved, who are telling us it’s all okay…why aren’t they living close to the reactors and seas where it’s “so safe?” What could give us greater assurance and peace of mind?

Just trying to be helpful.

What if certain government officials, who’ve been praising programs to fund the resurgence of inner cities, had to live in St. Louis and Detroit and experience the results/non-results of the federal programs?

What if conservative legislators, who’ve never met a big corporation they didn’t love, lived on farms where Monsanto’s vaunted Roundup Ready tech isn’t working at all, and the farmers have to do burn-downs, using far more toxic herbicides, to destroy the superweeds that are thriving and taking over the land?

If you’re a president with a Nobel Peace Prize in your pocket, and you’re ordering drone strikes, wouldn’t you benefit from actually being there and seeing the explosions on the ground and the bodies?

At least the British farmers are being honest. Only 15% would eat GMO food.
