Plague of Locusts Returns to Egypt

A swarm of 30 million locusts has attacked the fields of Giza, southwest of Cairo.

Passover is not due for another three weeks, give or take a day, but in Egypt they’re already reporting a plague of locusts that’s hitting the agricultural farms in Giza. some 15 miles southwest of Cairo—also known for its cluster of pyramids. Can’t get much more Exodus-related than that.

According to Alwatan News, Egyptian minister of agriculture Dr. Salah Abd Al Mamon has remarked that “against our predictions, a swarm of locusts has reached the region south of Cairo. The swarm is comprised of 30 million individuals, and it is causing great damage to agriculture in the Giza area.”

Dr. Al Mamon added that “Egyptian armed forces and the border guards are attempting to fight the swarm with the means at their disposal.” He requested local residents not to launch their own attempts to stop the swarm, so as not to cause additional damage unintentionally.

“I ask the families living in the locust-plagued areas not to burn tires. This does not chase away the locusts, but only causes damage and could ignite large scale fires that would cost in lives.”

Dr. Al Mamon noted that, based on meteorological data, strong winds that are expect to start soon which will take the locusts with them towards the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia.

Rajab Bachri, head of the “War on the Locusts” department in the ministry of agriculture, said that crop dusting aircraft will soon be sent to attack the swarm.

According to Bachri, swarms of locusts pass through Egypt at this time of the year, but this one is exceptionally large.

According to Encyclopedia Smithsonian, locusts are used by various African groups consistently as food. The locust individuals are gathered in the early day before they are active, then boiled before being cleaned and salted. Even the legs are used by grinding and combining them with peanut butter and salt.

Latest Homeland Security Armored Vehicle

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) have apparently recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

Although I’ve seen and read several online reports about this vehicle of late, and although it is apparently unknown exactly how many have been delivered to DHS, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.

The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).

From Navistar Defense:

The International® MaxxPro® is Navistar Defense’s Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle and incorporates the latest design in armoring technology. Extensively tested by the military and used in theater today, the MaxxPro features a V-shaped hull and other design features that greatly improve survivability. With so much protection, it’s the vehicle that every crew wants when they’re out in the field.

MaxxPro® MRAP specifications:

Length: 254″ (21.2 feet)
Width: 102″ (8.5 feet)
Height: 120″ (10 feet)
Wheel base: 153″ (12.8 feet)
Curb weight: 37,850 lbs. (18.9 tons)
Engine: MaxxForce® 9.3

The MaxxPro MRAP is built to withstand ballistic arms fire, mine blasts, IEDs, and other emerging threats. Its V-shaped hull helps deflect blasts out and away from the crew and its armoring can be customized to meet any mission requirement.

———————-

The installation contract retrofits 2,717 vintage MaxxPro vehicles (work performed in West Point, Mississippi) with a new rolling chassis. This chassis enhancement included the addition of the DXM™ independent suspension, a MaxxForce® 9.3 engine, and a 570 amp alternator and driveline. The work was completed at the end of May 2012.

Observations and Questions:

Why would DHS need such over-the-top vehicles on U.S. streets to withstand IEDs and mine blasts?

There are rails along the perimeter windows/gun ports to help displace the impact of RPG rounds… seems a bit much for a Police/Rescue vehicle…

They all have gun ports… Rescue vehicle?

homeland-security-police-rescue-vehicle-gun-ports

Seriously, why would DHS need such a vehicle on our streets? What are they expecting or preparing for? It is a ridiculous over-the-top display of force that is meant to intimidate and associate the DHS name and logo with ‘FEAR’. Just like all that’s happening with the TSA (under the wing of DHS), this is about normalization of a new way of American life.

By the way, you’re the one who paid for these. Or better said… your grand-kids will pay for these since we are living on a negative balance sheet with a 16 Trillion dollar deficit.

SOLAR BATTERY CHARGERI am curious to know if any of our MSB readers have seen any of these vehicles? Send photos and encounters if you have them…

George Washington once said, “Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.”

Update: One reader has suggested that the DHS vehicles are not Navistar MaxxPro, but Golan (Israeli made) armored vehicles, while another reader who apparently has worked for Navistar confirms that this vehicle is indeed made by Navistar. There have been numerous reports on this story swirling within the blogosphere with varying claims of make and model. While this new information may or may not be accurate, I still question the need for these types of military armored vehicles riding on the ‘free’ streets of America, regardless of who makes them.

Existing Reset Line Available to Service Vehicles Returning from Deployment

LISLE, Ill., March 15, 2012 Navistar Defense, LLC received an award to conduct the installation work associated with its January order to upgrade 2,717 International® MaxxPro® Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles with a new vehicle chassis.

source: http://www.defenseprocurementnews.com

These mods are for the “vehicle reset line”, meaning, for those that are or have apparently come home from overseas. Where are they exactly being deployed? It is difficult to say, because they have not exactly said. There are pictures out there with Homeland Security printed on the sides of these vehicles. There are reports that some of them are being purposed for Border Patrol. There are personal accounts of seeing the vehicles elsewhere. The DoD and DHS have an apparent working relationship, and these returning MRAP’s are apparently being re-purposed here on American streets. On the one hand it sounds frugal, on the other it sounds unnecessary (with exception to border patrol IMHO). One could argue that we might simply mothball them until such time they’re needed again (although understandably, decay would set in – it’s cost versus reward).

NAVISTAR DEFENSE RECEIVES MRAP INSTALLATION ORDER

“We are focused on increasing the capabilities of our existing fleet with minimal impact to defense funding,” said Archie Massicotte, president, Navistar Defense. “The vehicle reset line we established for this installation work can also be utilized to restore older vehicles to like-new condition. Therefore, we are poised and ready to reset vehicles returning from deployment…”

The installation contract retrofits vintage MaxxPro vehicles with a new rolling chassis. This chassis enhancement includes the addition of the DXM™ independent suspension, a MaxxForce® 9.3 engine, 570 amp alternator and driveline, while leaving a residual chassis with a beam axle that can be reused. The retrofits will be conducted in West Point, Miss., and work is expected to be completed by the end of May 2012.

The company has fielded nearly 9,000 MaxxPro vehicles and continues to anticipate needed vehicle capabilities, enhancements, reset and reuse options for its entire fleet of 32,000 vehicles.

The DHS and DoD report up the Executive branch to the Commander in Chief. The DoD / military is primarily limited to overseas actions due to the Posse Comitatus Act, while the new DHS (thanks to the Patriot Act after 9/11) is intended for operations on U.S. soil. The DHS is seemingly becoming the ‘legalized’ military here at home… and one could argue that it may be circumventing the Posse Comitatus Act to some degree.

Poland to drop charges in CIA secret prison investigation – report

Poland will clear its former intelligence head of charges he knew about and permitted the CIA to run a secret prison on Polish soil to detain and torture Al-Qaeda suspects, according to a local newspaper.

Gazeta Wyborcza cited a source revealing that charges against former intelligence chief Zbigniew Siemiatkowski will be dropped.

“The decision … has been taken by Krakow-based prosecutors,” the newspaper said on Tuesday.

The Polish prosecution declined to comment.

Official criminal investigation into CIA-run secret prison in Poland began in 2008 and Siemiatkowski became implicated in early 2012 after allegations about how much he really knew about the prison came to light.

The government has refused to say whether the Siemiatkowski was ever officially charged or not. But according to sources close to the investigation, charges were drawn up against him in 2012, Reuters reported.

Lawyers and activists argued in January that the investigation was being suppressed because it would embarrass the top echelon of the country’s government. Linking them with illegal detention and torture, it would also impact negatively on the relationship between Poland and its key ally, the US.

Siemiatkowski was the head of Polish domestic civilian intelligence agency during the time the ‘black sites’ were allegedly functioning. In 2005 he left office.

The investigation took on a twist when the original investigators were taken off the case in early 2012 and the case was transferred from the capital, Warsaw, to the southern city of Krakow.

“All these decisions are so irrational from the point of view of the effectiveness of the investigation [that] it is realistic to assume there is some political interference,” vice-president of the Warsaw-based Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights Adam Bodnar told Reuters.

Beginning in 2005, former CIA officials and activist groups began to reveal more information about the CIA-run prison in Poland.

It was said to be in a small remote village Stare Kiejkuty and was operational from December 2002 to the fall of 2003. It was used to transport suspected Al-Qaeda members outside the US territory to interrogate without having to adhere to US law.

A report released by the Open Society Justice Initiative (OSJI), a New York-based human rights organization, argued that at least 54 countries including Poland, Syria, Iran, Sweden, Iceland, and UK offered the CIA ‘covert support’ to detain, transport, interrogate and torture suspects in the years following the 9/11 attacks.

Poland is said to have “hosted a secret CIA prison on its territory, assisted with the transfer of secretly detained individuals in and out of Poland, including to other secret detention sites, and permitted the use of its airspace and airports for such transfers,” according to the report.

In 2006, then-President George W. Bush revealed the US had CIA detention facilities overseas, but no details came out as to their exact locations.

The CIA’s black sites in Europe are rumored to have detained and tortured suspected terrorists, and to hold them in custody before being transported to the prison at Guantanamo Bay.

The sites and the prisoners existed in legal limbo, with no oversight from citizens of the host countries. The CIA is believed to have operated with the knowledge and cooperation of the governments of those countries.

Poland has continuously denied that there were operational secret CIA prisons on their territory, but promised to carry out a fair investigation.

It is the second country to have opened a criminal investigation into the matter, after Lithuania (though that case has been closed).

Polish prosecution had requested an extension to the five-year investigation, but the time-frame of that extension remains unknown.

At least 20 CIA black-site prisoners still missing

Investigative journalists studying the CIA’s infamous black-site shadow prisons say that at least 20 detainees once held in the secret torture cells are currently unaccounted for.

In the wake of the attacks of September 11, 2001, the US Central Intelligence Agency expanded their operations overseas to track down suspected terrorists by any means possible. Only two weeks after the World Trade Center’s twin towers came crumbling down, in fact, then-Vice President Dick Cheney said America must embrace a mission that would involve working through “the dark side.”

“A lot of what needs to be done here will have to be done quietly, without any discussion, using sources and methods that are available to our intelligence agencies,” Cheney said at the time.

Over a decade later, Vice President Cheney is still regularly associated with the post-9/11 policies of the George W. Bush administration that current President-Barack Obama has fought to overturn, including the use of torture as an interrogation device. And although Pres. Obama was successful during his first term in office with shutting down the shadow prisons operated overseas by the CIA, a new report suggests that over 20 inmates of those elusive facilities started under Bush and Cheney have disappeared into thin air.

ProPublica, a news organization that bills itself as offering “journalism in the public interest,” has combed through a 216-page report just published by Open Society Foundations on secret CIA detentions, and in doing so has determined that the number of suspected insurgents scooped up during the Bush years who have disappeared is outstanding.

gty_cia_headquarters_seal_ll_111028_wg

“In 2009, ProPublica’s Dafna Linzer listed more than thirty people who had been held in CIA prisons and were still missing,” their analysis reads. “Some of those prisoners have since resurfaced, but at least twenty are still unaccounted for.”

In the Open Society Foundation’s report, “Globalizing Torture,” the human rights group examines what is known today about those prisons where an unknown number of foreign suspects were stored by CIA officials and kept locked up indefinitely to endure treatment that has been condemned largely as torture in the years since.

Today, more than a decade after September 11, there is no doubt that high-ranking Bush administration officials bear responsibility for authorizing human rights violations associated with secret detention and extraordinary rendition,” reads the report’s executive summary. Despite this claim that is widely accepted, though, the report’s author says, “the full scale and scope of foreign government participation — as well as the number of victims — remains unknown, largely because of the extreme secrecy maintained by the United States and its partner governments.”

On the record, President Bush acknowledged that the CIA detained around 100 prisoners during his administration, of which only 16 are known to have been transferred at one point to the custody of the Pentagon. Of the over 30 detainees who were listed as missing during ProPublica’s 2009 report, today the organization has uncovered a number of interview with inmates who have since been freed and have openly discussed their detainment. At least one of those 30-plus inmates, Ali Abdul-Hamid al-Fakhiri, has died in prison in the three year’s since their last report.

ProPublica says that the CIA did not answer requests for comment.

US drones killed more Afghan civilians in 2012 – UN

The UN says American drone strikes have killed many more Afghan civilians in 2012 than in the previous year. It comes as the US stepped up the use of drones as it prepares to leave war-torn Afghanistan by 2014.

According to a report by the UN mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) unmanned aerial aircraft fired 506 times in 2012, killing 16 civilians and wounding three. In 2011, 294 weapons were launched, resulting in just one casualty.

The UNAMA called for a review of tactical and operational policy on targeting, as most of the civilian casualties resulted from weapons aimed directly at insurgents, with some targeting errors. It cited an incident where four boys were killed October 20 in Logar province when a drone struck after a clash between pro-government forces and insurgents a few kilometers away from the area.

Most of the covert drone operations have been carried out in Pakistan to fight insurgents in northwestern areas of the country, seriously deteriorating relations between Washington and Islamabad. Now, the US appears to be stepping up the use of unmanned aerial aircraft in Afghanistan.

Georgette Gagnon, the head of human rights for UNAMA, said it was the first year the UN had tried to document civilian casualties from drones.

Meanwhile, the full-year toll of civilian deaths in Afghanistan in 2012 declined to 2,754, a 12 percent decrease from 3,131 in the same period a year earlier, according to the annual report on civilian casualties released by the UN on Tuesday. It stated that the Taliban and other insurgents were responsible for 81 percent of the civilian casualties last year.

Former NSA Official Disputes Claims by NSA Chief

LAS VEGAS — A former NSA official has accused the NSA’s director of deception during a speech he gave at the DefCon hacker conference on Friday when he asserted that the agency does not collect files on Americans.

William Binney, a former technical director at the NSA, said during a panel discussion that NSA Director Gen. Keith Alexander was playing a “word game” and that the NSA was indeed collecting e-mails, Twitter writings, internet searches and other data belonging to Americans and indexing it.

“Unfortunately, once the software takes in data, it will build profiles on everyone in that data,” he said. “You can simply call it up by the attributes of anyone you want and it’s in place for people to look at.”

He said the NSA began building its data collection system to spy on Americans prior to 9/11, and then used the terrorist attacks that occurred that year as the excuse to launch the data collection project.

“It started in February 2001 when they started asking telecoms for data,” Binney said. “That to me tells me that the real plan was to spy on Americans from the beginning.”

Binney is referring to assertions that former Qwest CEO James Nacchio made in court documents in 2007 that the NSA had asked Qwest, AT&T, Verizon and Bellsouth in early 2001 for customer calling records and that all of the other companies complied with the request, but Nacchio declined to participate until served with a proper legal order.

“The reason I left the NSA was because they started spying on everybody in the country. That’s the reason I left,” said Binney, who resigned from the agency in late 2001.

Binney was contradicting statements made on Friday by Alexander, who told the crowd of hackers and security professionals that his agency “absolutely” does not maintain files on Americans.

“And anybody who would tell you that we’re keeping files or dossiers on the American people,” Alexander continued, “knows that’s not true.”

ff_nsadatacenter2_fAlexander also told the audience that the NSA targets only foreign entities and that if it “incidentally” picked up the data of Americans in the process, the agency was required to “minimize” the data, “which means nobody else can see it unless there’s a crime that’s been committed.” Minimization refers to legal restrictions under the United states Signals Intelligence Directive 18 on how data pertaining to U.S. citizens can be handled, distributed or retained.

Following the panel discussion, a former attorney for the NSA elaborated on this to Threat Level.

“You’re looking at a data stream that originates in a foreign country. It just happens to be transiting the United States,” said Richard Marshall, former associate general counsel for information assurance at the NSA. “You’re authorized by law to collect that data and to analyze that data. Even though it was captured on U.S. soil, it’s against a foreign target. Now in the process of doing that, yes, there is a possibility, more than a possibility I guess, that there will be some U.S. person who is involved in a conversation with a foreign entity, a foreign person. So what? If you’re not collecting data against that U.S. person, what’s the harm?”

But ACLU staff attorney Alex Abdo, who was also on the panel, noted that a gaping loophole in the laws governing the NSA allows the agency to do dragnet surveillance of non-Americans and, in the process sweep up the data of Americans they may be communicating with, and hold onto that data even though the Americans aren’t the target. The NSA can then “target [the Americans] after-the-fact.” If, for example, new information came to light involving an American whose information is in the database, the NSA can sift through the “minimized” data and at that point “get the info that they couldn’t target from the outset.”

Earlier this month, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence admitted in a letter sent to Senator Ron Wyden that on at least one occasion the NSA had violated the Constitutional prohibitions on unlawful search and seizure.

According to the letter, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court found that “minimization procedures” used by the government while it was collecting intelligence were “unreasonable under the Fourth Amendment.”

Author James Bamford, speaking with Abdo and Binney, said that the NSA could also get around the law against targeting Americans by targeting a call center for a U.S. company that is based overseas, perhaps in India. When Americans then called the center to obtain information about their bank account or some other transaction, the NSA would be able to pick up that communication.

Finally, Binney contradicted Alexander’s earlier claims that the agency could not violate the law even if it wanted to do so because the NSA is monitored by Congress, both intel committees and their congressional members and their staffs. “So everything we do is auditable by them, by the FISA court … and by the administration. And everything we do is accountable to them…. We are overseen by everybody,” Alexander had said.

But these assertions are disingenuous since, Binney said, “all the oversight is totally dependent on what the NSA tells them. They have no way of knowing what [the NSA is] really doing unless they’re told.”

DARPA Wants a Searchable Database of All Your Conversations

DARPA is working on an embryonic project that would store your every verbal conversation on an Internet server, creating a searchable chat database that would represent the ultimate privacy killer.

Having failed to establish its infamous Total Information Awareness system, although the project was continued under numerous different guises, DARPA is attempting to create a world in which your every utterance is stored in perpetuity.

1-darpa-vulture-programme

But don’t worry, the servers on which your conversations are stored will be owned by the individual or their employer, and the government promises to never access the information using their vast new $2 billion dollar spying hub in the middle of the Utah desert. Honest.

“University of Texas computer scientist Matt Lease has studied crowdsourcing for years, including for an earlier Darpa project called Effective Affordable Reusable Speech-to-text, or EARS, which sought to boost the accuracy of automated transcription machines. His work has also attracted enough attention for Darpa to award him a $300,000 award over two years to study the new project, called “Blending Crowdsourcing with Automation for Fast, Cheap, and Accurate Analysis of Spontaneous Speech.” The project envisions a world that is both radically transparent and a little freaky,” reports Wired’s Robert Beckhusen.

Described as being, “like a Twitter feed or e-mail archive for everyday speech,” day to day conversations, “could be stored in archives and easily searched.”

Lease claims that the technology would represent a, “democratizing force of everyday people recording and sharing their daily lives and experiences through their conversations,” and yet the Wired article barely even scratches the surface on examining what a horrendous privacy threat this would pose, with governments and police departments potentially obtaining the ability to Google-search speech.

Imagine a situation where, in the name of preventing terrorism, the Department of Homeland Security is given access to the database and uses it to search for spoken keywords, as it already does online with social networks. Forget slippery slope, this would be a rapid descent into the maelstrom of ubiquitous surveillance – the type George Orwell couldn’t even conjure up in his worst nightmare.

The Wired piece glibly addresses concerns about “respecting the privacy rights of multiple people involved,” as well as whether the conversations would be stored on remote or private servers, but doesn’t even mention the chilling ramifications that could ensue once the state manufactures a justification to access the database.

Former CIA director David Petraeus heralded the arrival of the “smart home” as a boon for “clandestine statecraft,” yet that represents child’s play in comparison to what DARPA is planning.

To get a sense of the motivation behind DARPA’s latest attempt to drive the final nail into any semblance of privacy, one only has to recall the furore over the agency’s Total Information Awareness program, symbolized by its logo of an all-seeing eye atop a pyramid beaming its gaze upon the globe.

As the New York Times’ William Safire wrote in November 2002, the TIA program was based around tracking, “Every purchase you make with a credit card, every magazine subscription you buy and medical prescription you fill, every Web site you visit and e-mail you send or receive, every academic grade you receive, every bank deposit you make, every trip you book and every event you attend — all these transactions and communications will go into what the Defense Department describes as ”a virtual, centralized grand database.”

The program was defunded and mothballed in 2003, but it continued to operate under a number of different sub-projects.

Brought to fruition, DARPA’s new attempt to record verbal communications would represent TIA on steroids, but as long as it is sold to the public on a voluntary basis with a shiny, cool, hip veneer (Google Glass-style), a million tech-heads and transhumanists will jump right on board with no hesitation, leaving refusniks increasingly ostracized in a world where storing your every interaction and experience in some vast database becomes as normal as having a Facebook page.

8 Ways Corporations are Poisoning Our Food, Water, the Earth

While we may be under the impression that our system of government is here to protect us, corporations—and the politicians getting paychecks from them—do a fair job of making that difficult. This manner of “legislative capture” is manifesting itself in a host of appalling ways far beyond those listed here. Here are 8 ways corporations are poisoning our food supply, humans, and mother earth.

1. Sugary Drinks, Diet Drinks are Addictive and Fattening

Sugary drinks, especially soda, run rampant in the U.S., with corporations shelling out millions to advertise to both children and adults. Kids are taking in 7 trillion calories of sugar each year from soda alone, with sodas making up 15-25% of the daily recommended caloric intake for kids aged 2 to 19. Sugar-sweetened sodas can contain upwards of 200 calories per can, but even artificially sweetened drinks should not be considered safe. Several studies show that artificial sweeteners—like cancer-linked aspartame—can contribute to tooth decay, obesity, kidney damage, and depression.

2. Bisphenol A and Other Chemicals in Canned Goods BPA is a hormone disrupting chemical used in canned goods and plastic bottles. The chemical, which is labeled as “toxic” in other nations, had a chance to be banned of March 2012. In a move that angered activists within the US and even internationally, the FDA ruled against the ban. This ubiquitous chemical has been linked to:

  • ObesityHypera
  • Hyperactivity in girls
  • Infertility
  • Sterility
  • Reproductive issues
  • Hastened puberty
  • Feminization in boys

3. Buying Out and Creating Organic Companies

You may not know this, but many organic companies are actually owned and operated by major corporations like Coca-Cola or Kellogg. Companies like Honest Tea and Odwalla may appeal to health conscious shoppers, but they are actually owned by Coca-Cola. Another popular ‘health’ brand is Kashi, owned by the Kellogg corporation. Some products from these companies may be ’100% organic’, but do you really trust their labeling practices? Or perhaps more important, do you really want to give support to the corporate producer?

Further, these large corporations are buying out some of the companies many natural-health advocates have grown to love. One example is when New Chapter, a vitamin and supplement company offering worthy products since 1892, was bought out by mega-corporation Proctor & Gamble.

4. Antibiotics are Making People Fat

These days, physicians are a little stab-happy with their antibiotics, often to just please the patient with a medical solution (a placebo effect, if you will). But it could be setting us up for lifelong obesity – at least that’s what some research has to say. In addition to killing “bad” bacteria, antibiotics kill “good” bacteria in the gut, thereby disrupting digestion even in the long run. There’s also mounting evidence that antibiotics may be promoting diabetes and metabolic syndrome—but not killing the cold and flu viruses that parents think they are (antibiotics cannot kill viruses, only bacteria).

5. Antibiotics in Livestock are Promoting Bacterial Resistance

Last year, The Guardian wrote about 150 scientists and 50 farmers—including a former FDA commissioner—demanding that Congress regulate antibiotic use in livestock. The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has even blamed overuse of antibiotics for the global resistance to antibiotics, which could make antibiotics futile against disease-causing bacteria. And this is not even considering the other ill effects antibiotics have on the animals we eat.

6. Supporting Genetically Modified Foods and Herbicides

If you are into organic foods and have been following GM news, you know that the latest and greatest chance for GM labeling was with California’s proposition 37. Needless to say, the bill was not passed, but Prop 37 did teach us a lot about the interest of various companies and mega corporations. It was no surprise to see biotech giant Monsanto dish out over $4 million to fight the bill, but some people were surprised to see Naked Juice, Kashi, Cascadian Farm Organic, Honest Tea, and some others on the side of anti-GM labeling. As mentioned above, many of these companies are owned by corporations like Coca-Cola or General Mills.

They all support GM food, are anti-GM labeling, and subsequently support the use of herbicides and pesticides. Pesticides that are being used in greater amounts each day thanks to mutated insects that become resistant to Monsanto’s Roundup-ready GM crops.

According to numerous pieces of research, GM foods like Monsanto’s corn have been implicated of contributing to weight gain, organ disruption, tumor development and infertility in rats. Roundup—a glyphosate-based herbicide— is to thank for contributing to water pollution, resistant rootworms and superweeds, and environmental devastation.

7. Herbicides and Insecticides Contributing to Bee Colony Collapse

Although technological products like cell phone towers and cell phones are hurting the bee population, herbicides, insecticides and pesticides brought to us by Bayer, Monsanto, and Dow AgroSciences appear to be the main culprits. It has been shown time and time again that these chemicals are ravaging these tiny insects that are essential for agriculture purposes and pollinating food crops.

“…a document was leaked revealing that a bee-killing pesticide put in use by the EPA may be to blame [for the bee decline]. Adding to the controversy, more records have emerged showing that the USDA was fully aware of the pesticide’s threat to not only bees, but humans…Neonicotinoids, the particular type of pesticides used, are absorbed systemically into plants, including the pollen and nectar. Once the bees begin to pollinate, they also absorb the insecticide, and die.”

Neonicotinoids have been banned in France and Germany, but not the United States.

8. Factory Farms Devastate Land and Sea

If you purchase your meat from a grocery store instead of a farmer’s market or co-op, it was probably raised in a factory farm. Not only are these farms known for extreme animal cruelty (which many undercover videos have gruesomely pointed out), but they are also responsible for polluting groundwater, drinking water, and contributing to massive deforestation. Actually, they produce 100 times more waste than the entire U.S. population.

Run-off from these establishments as well as non-organic crops are contributing to blooms and dead zones in coastal waters. Earlier this year, a scientific paper argued against the case of factory farms feeding the world, but with the USDA and FDA deep in industrial farming’s pockets, it will take considerable time and effort before we see any changes.

5 Conspiracy Theories Which Turned Out to be True

There are types of stories called “conspiracy theories” and the people who teach them are considered by “society” as crazy fanatics who often need medical treatment. What if I tell you that “society” should take some of that medical treatment, cause sometimes such incredible stories, nobody believed in, turn out to be 100% true.

What if I tell you that the doctors did not treat us, just wait until we die to cut our bodies?

1. Tuskegee syphilis experiment

In the years 1932-1972, there were a series of experiments on about 400 syphilis-infected black citizens of the United States. The study selected the poor, simple and uneducated – most of them did not even know about their illness. U.S. Public Health Service had promised free treatment to patients. In fact, they were given aspirin. The purpose of this “experiment” was to observe a progressive disease in representatives of the black race, and the scientific autopsy of deceased participants in these studies. As a result, 28 people died directly of syphilis, 100 died as a result of complications directly related to the disease, 40 women were infected by unconscious patients, and 19 children were born with congenital disease. male_blood_test The sad truth about the Tuskegee Experiment was confirmed in 1997 by President Bill Clinton, who officially and publicly apologized to the eight surviving participants in these studies.

What if I tell you that the U.S. government itself commits “acts of terror” on its land, just to have an excuse to invade another country?

2. Operation Northwoods

In 1997, as a result of the murder of J.F. Kennedy, fifteen hundred pages of documents entitled “Operation Northwoods” were declassified. In the 60s, the United States was preparing for war with Cuba. To fire up the war machine public support was needed. In turn the defense secretary presented a paper called “Justification for U.S. Military Intervention in Cuba” so they had a whole range of interesting provocations, such as terrorist attacks involving the blowing up military bases, starting fires, aircraft hijacking, “landing” of Cuban troops , bombings, and even the sinking of a boat full of armed Cubans.

These false flag terrorist attacks were to be carried out by the CIA on a massive scale so that the citizens of the United States would feel threatened by Fidel Castro and the government had an excuse to start a war. The plan was never implemented however, as president Kennedy met with the General Lyman Lemnitzer and rejected the plan of operation. This time it did not work …

What if I tell you that it is just about oil?

3. Nayirah Testimony

In August 1990 there was conflict between Iraq and Kuwait, mostly over oil fields as Saddam Hussein accused Kuwaitis of theft of these resources. On October 10th the whole world turned its eyes toward a fifteen-year old girl named Nayirah, who wept profusely as she talked about inhumane crimes committed by Iraqi soldiers. The young Kuwaiti was to witness the killing of more than 300 babies in a hospital. The dramatic speech touched the hearts of viewers and managed to drum up overwhelming support for the involvement of the United States in this conflict and the outbreak of the Gulf War.
liar1When the battle dust settled, someone took a closer look at Nayirah. Quickly it became apparent that the sobbing girl in front of millions of viewers was the daughter of Sheikh Saud Nasser Al-Saud Al-Sabah – Kuwaiti Ambassador to the United States and a member of the royal family. The child was handed to PR whizzes – Hill & Knowlton company, where she passed a course in comprehensive acting training. It had to work out – the company bosses signed an $11.9 million contract with the Kuwaiti royal family. The task was simple — to persuade the U.S. to military to take action against Iraq. Nayirah lied. This time it worked …

What if I tell you that the leading Nazi scientists got a job in USA after the war?

4. Operation Paperclip.

World War II was coming to an end and nothing more could change the situation of the Third Reich. American special forces had acknowledged that it would be a pity if some people lost their lives, especially those whose knowledge and experience could potentially serve the interests of the United States. As part of Operation Paperclip, they smuggled into the U.S. a group of gifted scientists from the Nazi rocket industry, medicine and chemical weapons divisions.
operation-paperclip-picIn the safe arms of Uncle Sam there were, among others, Wernher Von Braun (SS-man, the creator of the famous missile V-2), Kurt Blome (a doctor specializing in biological weapons, which tested their inventions on prisoners in Auschwitz) and Hubertus Strughold (“father of space medicine” who examined the effect of extremely low temperatures on the human body in camp Dachau). In total, 700 German “men of science”, found their new home on American soil.

What if I tell you that the government controls your mind?

5. MK-Ultra

In many conspiracy theories there are fragments of “Big Brother”, which uses a variety of different methods to brainwash the public. It turns out that playing with people’s minds was actually done by the CIA a good half a century ago! In the 60s, thanks to the NY Times reporters, details of the MK-Ultra project came to light, which was aimed to investigate the human ability to be controlled by the use of certain chemicals, subliminal messages, electrical impulses and psychoactive substances. The project itself consisted of a number of sub-projects. For example, MK-Search was designed to create the perfect truth serum that could be used on captured Russian spies.

They also looked into research on the practical use of LSD. Experiments were conducted on prostitutes, prisoners and people with mental illness. Often times without their knowledge or consent. One such experiment was to give the drug to seven volunteers continuously for 77 days … Among the substances, with which the CIA dealt was also amphetamines, psilocybin and mescaline. They also experimented with hypnotic seances. When information about MK-Ultra was released to the public, a number of committees of inquiry were established and this research was formally and publicly condemned.

It is often said that the infamous project was one of the factors which resulted in the generation of the hippie movement. Ken Kesey – author of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, as a volunteer, was participating in one of the experiments, prepared by the CIA. The effect of LSD on the human mind intrigued the writer so much, that he became one of the first proponents of the use of psychedelic drugs in the context of recreation. Another member of psychedelic experimentation was Robert Hunter of the Grateful Dead …

We know that these theories turned out to be true. And how many more are waiting to be revealed? There are some people who do a lot to hide the truth.

Screen Propaganda, Hollywood and the CIA

“One of the most pervasive trends in 21st century western culture has become somewhat of an obsession in America. It’s called “Hollywood history”, where the corporate studio machines in Los Angeles spend hundreds of millions of dollars in order to craft and precisely tailor historical events to suit the prevailing political paradigm.” (Patrick Henningsen, Hollywood History: CIA Sponsored “Zero Dark Thirty”, Oscar for “Best Propaganda Picture”)

Black Hawk Dawn, Zero Dark Thirty and Argo, those are only a few major recent productions showing how today’s movie industry promotes US foreign policy. But the motion picture has been used for propaganda since the beginning of the 20th century and Hollywood’s cooperation with the Department of Defense, the CIA and other government agencies is no modern trend.

With Michelle Obama awarding Ben Affleck’s Argo the Oscar for best movie, the industry showed how close it is to Washington. According to Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich, Argo is a propaganda film concealing the ugly truth about the Iranian hostage crisis and designed to prepare the American public for an upcoming confrontation with Iran:

Foreign policy observers have long known that Hollywood reflects and promotes U.S. policies (in turn, is determined by Israel and its supporters).   This fact was made public when Michelle Obama announced an Oscar win for “Argo” – a highly propagandist, anti-Iran  film.  Amidst the glitter and excitement, Hollywood and White House reveal their pact and send out their message in time for the upcoming talks surrounding Iran’s nuclear program […]

Hollywood has a long history of promoting US policies.   In 1917, when the United States entered World War I, President Woodrow Wilson’s Committee on Public Information (CPI) enlisted the aid of America ’s film industry to make training films and features supporting the ‘cause’.  George Creel, Chairman of the CPI believed that the movies had a role in “carrying the gospel of Americanism to every corner of the globe.”

The pact grew stronger during World War II […] Hollywood ’s contribution was to provide propaganda. After the war, Washington reciprocated by using subsidies, special provisions in the Marshall Plan, and general clout to pry open resistant European film markets […]

As Hollywood and the White House eagerly embrace “Argo” and its propagandist message, they shamelessly and deliberately conceal a crucial aspect of this “historical” event.  The glitter buries the all too important fact that the Iranian students who took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran , proceeded to reveal Israel ’s dark secret to the world.  Documents classified as “SECRET” revealed LAKAM’s activities.  Initiated in 1960, LAKAM was an Israeli network assigned to economic espionage in the U.S. assigned to “the collection of scientific intelligence in the U.S. for Israel ’s defense industry” (Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich Oscar to Hollywood’s “Argo”: And the Winners are … the Pentagon and the Israel Lobby)

For a real account of the Iranian hostage crisis, a CIA covert operation, Global Research recommends reading Harry V. Martin’s article published in 1995: The Real Iranian Hostage Story from the Files of Fara Mansoor:

Fara Mansoor is a fugitive. No, he hasn’t broken any laws in the United States. His crime is the truth. What he has to say and the documents he carries are equivalent to a death warrant for him, Mansoor is an Iranian who was part of the “establishment” in Iran long before the 1979 hostage taking. Mansoor’s records actually discount the alleged “October Surprise” theory that the Ronald Reagan-George Bush team paid the Iranians not to release 52 American hostages until after the November 1980 Presidential elections […]

With thousands of documents to support his position, Mansoor says that the “hostage crisis” was a political “management tool” created by the pro-Bush faction of the CIA, and implemented through an a priori Alliance with Khomeini’s Islamic Fundamentalists.” He says the purpose was twofold:

Zero Dark Thirty is another great silver screen propaganda piece which spurred outrage earlier this year. It exploits the horrific events of 9/11 to present torture as an effective and necessary evil:

Zero Dark Thirty is disturbing for two reasons. First and foremost, it leaves the viewer with the erroneous impression that torture helped the CIA find bin Laden’s hiding place in Pakistan. Secondarily, it ignores both the illegality and immorality of using torture as an interrogation tool.

The thriller opens with the words “based on first-hand accounts of actual events.” After showing footage of the horrific 9/11 attacks, it moves into a graphic and lengthy depiction of torture. The detainee “Ammar” is subjected to waterboarding, stress positions, sleep deprivation, and confined in a small box. Responding to the torture, he divulges the name of the courier who ultimately leads the CIA to bin Laden’s location and assassination. It may be good theater, but it is inaccurate and misleading. (Marjorie Cohn, “Zero Dark Thirty”: Torturing the Facts)

Earlier this year the Golden Globe awards made some analysts criticize Hollywood’s dark “celebration of the police state” and argue that the real Golden Globe winner  was the military-industrial complex:

Homeland won best TV series, best TV actor and actress. It IS a highly entertaining show which actually portrays some of the flaws of the MIIC system.

Argo won best movie and best director. It glorifies the CIA and Ben Affleck spoke with the highest praise for the CIA.

And best actress went to Jessica Chastain of Zero Dark Thirty, a movie that has been vilified for propagandizing the use of torture.

The Military Industrial Intelligence Complex is playing a more and more pervasive role in our lives.  In the next few years we’ll be seeing movies that focus on the use of drone technology in police and spy work in the USA. We’ve already been seeing movies that show how spies can violate every aspect of our privacy– of the most intimate parts of our lives. By making movies and TV series that celebrate these cancerous extensions of the police state Hollywood and the big studios are normalizing the ideas they present us with– lying to the public, routinely creating fraudulent stories as covers for what’s really going on. (Rob Kall cited in Washington’s Blog, The CIA and Other Government Agencies Dominate Movies and Television)

All these troublesome Hollywood connections have been examined in an in-depth report Global Research published in January 2009: Lights, Camera… Covert Action: The Deep Politics of Hollywood. The article lists a great number of movies in part scripted for propaganda purposes by the Defense Department, the CIA and other government agencies. It is interesting to note that this year’s Oscar-winning director Ben Affleck cooperated with the CIA in 2002 as he starred in The Sum of All Fears.

Authors Matthew Alford and Robbie Graham explain that compared to the CIA, the Department of Defense “has an ‘open’ but barely publicized relationship with Tinsel Town” which, “whilst morally dubious and barely advertised, has at least occurred within the public domain.” Alford and Graham cite a 1991 CIA report revealing the sprawling influence of the agency, not only in the movie business but also in the media where it “has relationships with reporters from every major wire service, newspaper, news weekly, and television network in the nation.” It was not until 1996 that the CIA announced it “would now openly collaborate on Hollywood productions, supposedly in a strictly ‘advisory’ capacity”:

The Agency’s decision to work publicly with Hollywood was preceded by the 1991 “Task Force Report on Greater CIA Openness,” compiled by CIA Director Robert Gates’ newly appointed ‘Openness Task Force,’ which secretly debated –ironically– whether the Agency should be less secretive. The report acknowledges that the CIA “now has relationships with reporters from every major wire service, newspaper, news weekly, and television network in the nation,” and the authors of the report note that this helped them “turn some ‘intelligence failure’ stories into ‘intelligence success’ stories, and has contributed to the accuracy of countless others.” It goes on to reveal that the CIA has in the past “persuaded reporters to postpone, change, hold, or even scrap stories that could have adversely affected national security interests” […]

Espionage novelist Tom Clancy has enjoyed an especially close relationship with the CIA. In 1984, Clancy was invited to Langley after writing The Hunt for Red October, which was later turned into the 1990 film. The Agency invited him again when he was working on Patriot Games(1992), and the movie adaptation was, in turn, granted access to Langley facilities. More recently,The Sum of All Fears (2002) depicted the CIA as tracking down terrorists who detonate a nuclear weapon on US soil. For this production, CIA director George Tenet gave the filmmakers a personal tour of the Langley HQ; the film’s star, Ben Affleck also consulted with Agency analysts, and Chase Brandon served as on-set advisor.

The real reasons for the CIA adopting an “advisory” role on all of these productions are thrown into sharp relief by a solitary comment from former Associate General Counsel to the CIA, Paul Kelbaugh. In 2007, whilst at a College in Virginia, Kelbaugh delivered a lecture on the CIA’s relationship with Hollywood, at which a local journalist was present. The journalist (who now wishes to remain anonymous) wrote a review of the lecture which related Kelbaugh’s discussion of the 2003 thriller The Recruit, starring Al Pacino. The review noted that, according to Kelbaugh, a CIA agent was on set for the duration of the shoot under the guise of a consultant, but that his real job was to misdirect the filmmakers, the journalist quoted Kelbaugh as saying […] Kelbaugh emphatically denied having made the public statement. (Matthew Alford and Robbie Graham, Lights, Camera… Covert Action: The Deep Politics of Hollywood)

During the Cold War the CIA’s Psychological Strategy Board (PSB) agent Luigi G. Luraschi was a Paramount executive. He “had secured the agreement of several casting directors to subtly plant ‘well dressed negroes’ into films, including ‘a dignified negro butler’ who has lines ‘indicating he is a free man’”. The purpose of these changes was “to hamper the Soviets’ ability to exploit its enemy’s poor record in race relations and served to create a peculiarly anodyne impression of America, which was, at that time, still mired in an era of racial segregation.” (Ibid.)

The latest award-winning movie productions show that the Manichean view of the world put forward by the US foreign policy agenda has not changed since the Cold War. The Hollywood-CIA alliance is alive and well and still portrays America as the “leader of the free world” fighting “evil” around the world:

The interlocking of Hollywood and national security apparatuses remains as tight as ever: ex-CIA agent Bob Baer told us, “There’s a symbiosis between the CIA and Hollywood” […] Baer’s claims are given weight by the Sun Valley meetings, annual get-togethers in Idaho’s Sun Valley in which several hundred of the biggest names in American media –including every major Hollywood studio executive– convene to discuss collective media strategy for the coming year. (Ibid.)

“The CIA owns everyone of any significance in the major media.” Former CIA Director William Colby

G. Edward Griffin: The Creature from Jekyll Island

Where does money come from? Where does it go? Who makes it? The money magician’s secrets are unveiled. Here is a close look at their mirrors and smoke machines, the pulleys, cogs, and wheels that create the grand illusion called money. A boring subject? Just wait. You’ll be hooked in five minutes. It sounds like a detective story, which it really is, but it’s all true. Based on Mr. Griffin’s book of the same title, this address will shatter your old ideas about money and change the way you view the world. 74 minutes.

Transcript:

We’ll start way back in history to give some kind of historical perspective to this; we’ll go back to the first century BC and the tiny kingdom of Phrygia. There was a philosopher by the name of Epictetus and it was Epictetus who said “Appearances are of four kinds: things either are as they appear to be; or they neither are nor appear to be; or they are but do not appear to be; or they are not and yet appear to be.” When I read that statement for the first time, I had a big chuckle over it and I thought for sure that if Epictetus were alive today he would probably be a Harvard professor of money and banking; it sounds like so many explanations that I have read about various aspects of the Federal Reserve System. What he did was he took a fairly simple concept but by the time that he was through explaining it, we didn’t have any idea what he was talking about. All Epictetus said was that appearances can sometimes be deceiving. That’s all he said but by the time he was through explaining the four different ways in which they can be deceiving, we were left back at the switch somewhere.

Nevertheless, I thought, accidentally perhaps, Epictetus had given me a track to run on so-to-speak. Actually it could be the theme since if there’s anything in the world that is deceiving it is the Federal Reserve System. In fact, it is one of those appearances of the fourth kind which are those appearances which are not and yet appear to be. I’m going to use that as sort of a hook on the topic. We’ll come back to it from time-to-time and punctuate it if I can remember to do that because it tells us something at the most fundamental level about the Federal Reserve System and that is that appearances can be deceiving.

When I did my research on this topic I came to the startling conclusion that the Federal Reserve System does not need to be audited, it needs to be abolished. This is very intriguing to think we should audit the Fed but I discovered that probably if they audited the Fed it would get a clean bill because it’s undoubtedly doing exactly what it’s supposed to do according to the law. What it is supposed to do according to the law is justification for abolishing it so all we have to do is understand what the Federal Reserve System is supposed to do and we’ll be pretty upset about it. The fact of the matter is that most people haven’t the foggiest idea of what it is in fact supposed to do.

I came to the conclusion that the Federal Reserve needed to be abolished for seven reasons. I’d like to read them to you now just so that you get an idea of where I’m coming from, as they say. I put these into the most concise phrasing that I can to make them somewhat shocking and maybe you’ll remember them:

  1. The Federal Reserve is incapable of accomplishing its stated objectives.
  2. It is a cartel operating against the public interest.
  3. It’s the supreme instrument of usury.
  4. It generates our most unfair tax.
  5. It encourages war.
  6. It destabilizes the economy.

I don’t know what you think about those seven points. I know a lot of you folks agree with them right off the bat, but I presume that there are some skeptics here tonight and I hope there are otherwise I am the minister talking to the choir. I know in fact that there are always quite a few skeptics that come to these meetings and frankly you are the folks I’m talking to tonight because once, not too long ago, I was in that same frame of mind. I would’ve thought to myself those are rather extreme statements, I don’t think they can be supported by fact. Though time doesn’t permit me to cover all of those seven points here tonight, I would like to splash around on the first four topics for a little while and show you that there is in fact quite a bit of reason for a rational person to conclude that those statements are true.

I think the best place to begin is with the formation of the “creature from Jekyll Island”; the creation of the Federal Reserve. It takes me back to the title of the book “The Creature from Jekyll Island” and anybody that’s here thinking that we’re going to show a movie which is a sequel to Jurassic Park, you’re in the wrong place. The title was designed, of course, to attract attention but it does have a great deal of significance to it. For those of you who have not yet had a chance to delve into this, I should explain to you that Jekyll Island is a real island that’s off the coast of Georgia. It was on that island back in 1910 that the Federal Reserve System was created at a highly secret meeting that took place there. What I’d like to do is illustrate to you that the meeting did in fact take place and I’ll show some of the documentation that is available for that to prove that the secrecy was extreme and then we’ll come face-to-face with the question “why the secrecy”? When things are done in secret quite often there’s something to hide and we’ll explore what it was that they wanted to hide. Once we’ve come to an understanding of that, then we’ll finally understand a very important aspect of the Federal Reserve System which is not generally understood.

Back in 1910, Jekyll Island was completely privately owned by a small group of millionaires from New York. We’re talking about people such as J. P. Morgan, William Rockefeller and their associates. This was a social club and it was called “The Jekyll Island Club.” They owned the island and it was where their families came to spend the winter months. There was a magnificent structure there, the clubhouse, which was the center of their social activities. That clubhouse is still there, by-the-way. The island has since been purchased by the state of Georgia, converted into a state park and the clubhouse has been restored and you can visit it. I think you’d be very impressed by it. As you walk through the downstairs corridors you’ll come to a door and on the door there is a brass plaque and it says: “In this room the Federal Reserve System was created.” This is not a secret anymore; it’s a matter of public record. Around the clubhouse there were some cottages as they were called which were built by some of the families to quarter themselves. They’re attractive little things; they were magnificent examples of the architecture of the turn of the century. One of the cottages through which they take tours if you’re interested in doing that, as I recall the guide told us that there were 14 bathrooms in that cottage–not exactly what we would call a cottage.

The clubhouse is where the Federal Reserve System was created. Let’s retell that story in detail and see how it came about. The year was 1910, that was three years before the Federal Reserve Act was finally passed into law. It was November of that year when Senator Nelson Aldrich sent his private railroad car to the railroad station in New Jersey and there it was in readiness for the arrival of himself and six other men who were told to come under conditions of great secrecy. For example, they were told to arrive one at a time and not to dine with each other on the night of their departure. They were told that should they arrive at the station at the same time they should pretend like they didn’t even know each other. They were instructed to avoid newspaper reporters at all cost because they were well-known people and had they been seen by a reporter they would’ve asked questions. Especially if two or three of them had been spotted together, this would’ve raised eyebrows and they would’ve asked a lot of questions. One of the men carried a shotgun in a big black case so that if he had been stopped and asked where he was going he was prepared to say that he was going on a duck hunting trip. The interesting thing about that part of the story is that we find out later from his biographer that this man never fired a gun in his life, in fact he borrowed that shotgun just to carry with him on this trip as part of the deception.

Once they got on board the private railroad car this pattern continued. They were told to use first names only, not to use their last names at all. A couple of the men even adopted code-names. The reason for that is so that the servants on board the train would not know who these people were. They were afraid that if the servants would talk about it then the word would leak out and it might get into the press. They traveled for two nights and a day on board this car and they arrived after a 1,000 mile journey to Brunswick, Georgia. From there they took a ferry across the inland straits and they ended up on Jekyll Island in the clubhouse where for the next nine days they sat around the table and hammered out all the important details of what eventually became the Federal Reserve System. When they were done they went back to New York.

For quite a few years thereafter these men denied that any such meeting took place. It wasn’t until after the Federal Reserve System was firmly established that they then began to talk openly about their journey and what they accomplished. Several of them wrote books on the topic, one of them wrote a magazine article and they gave interviews to newspaper reporters so now it’s possible to go into the public record and document quite clearly and in detail what happened there.

Who were these seven men? The first one I have already mentioned, Senator Nelson Aldrich was the Republican whip in the Senate, he was the chairman of the National Monetary Commission which was the special committee of Congress created for the purpose of making a recommendation to Congress for proposed legislation to reform banking. The public was quite concerned in those days over what was going on in the banking industry; a lot of banks were folding, people were losing their investments in banks, they had broken their promise to guard the depositors assets, there were runs on the bank, banks couldn’t give the people their money back. In particular they were concerned over the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few large banks in New York on Wall Street. This is what they called the “money trust” in those days. The money trust was a common phrase. Quite a few politicians had been elected to office on their campaign promise to break the grip of the money trust. President Wilson was one of those politicians that campaigned on that even though Wilson was himself hand-picked by the money trust and financed by the money trust and surrounded by the money trust–all of his advisors and politic cronies. The public didn’t know that at the time and it was a popular issue. If you campaigned against the money trust you were quite apt to be elected and that was what I call “the people you love to hate” money trust.

That was one of the purposes of the National Monetary Commission which was to propose legislation to break the grip of the money trust and Aldrich was chairman of that committee. He was also the very important business associate of J. P. Morgan. He was the father-in-law of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. which means that eventually he became the grandfather of Nelson Rockefeller, our former vice-president. You remember his full name was Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller; his middle name being derived from his famous grandfather.

The second important person there was Abraham Andrew who was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. He later became a Congressman and he was very important in banking circles.

Frank Vanderlip was there. He was the President of the National City Bank of New York which was the largest of all of the banks in America representing the financial interests of William Rockefeller and the international investment firm of Kuhn, Loeb & Company.

Henry Davison was there, the senior partner of the J. P. Morgan Company. Charles Norton was there; he was the President of the First National Bank of New York which was another one of the giants. Benjamin Strong was at the meeting; he was the head of J. P. Morgan’s Banker’s Trust Company and Benjamin Strong three years later would become the first head of the Federal Reserve System.

Finally, there was Paul Warburg who was probably the most important at the meeting because of his knowledge of banking as it was practiced in Europe. Paul Warburg was born in Germany and eventually became a naturalized American citizen. He was a partner in Kuhn, Loeb & Company and was a representative of the Rothschild banking dynasty in England and France where he maintained very close working relationships throughout his entire career with his brother, Max Warburg, who was the head of the Warburg banking consortium in Germany and the Netherlands. Paul Warburg was one of the wealthiest men in the world. In fact, those of you who are Little Orphan Annie fans will remember Daddy Warbucks. Daddy Warbucks was the characterization of Paul Warburg and everyone at the time was well aware of that fact. I have his photograph in my book and if you compare the photograph to the cartoon drawing you’ll see the resemblance between Paul WARburg and Daddy WARbucks. And while we’re on the topic of cartoon characters, if you played Monopoly, you remember the drawing of the capitalist with the handle-bar mustache and the cigar? That’s J. P. Morgan.

These were the seven men aboard that railroad car who were at Jekyll Island. Amazing as it may seem, they represented approximately 1/4 of the wealth of the entire world. These are the men that sat around the table and created the Federal Reserve System. For the skeptic who’s wondering it didn’t happen that way surely Griffin is exaggerating to make some kind of a point. Let me put your mind at ease that it did happen that way (perhaps not at ease but in a state of tension).

How do we know? For example, Frank Vanderlip who was at the meeting wrote an article that appeared in the Saturday Evening Post on February 9, 1935 and I’d like to read for you just a short excerpt from that article. This is what Vanderlip said: “I do not feel it is any exaggeration to speak of our secret expedition to Jekyll Island as the occasion of the actual conception of what eventually became the Federal Reserve System. We were told to leave our last names behind us. We were told further that we should avoid dining together on the night of our departure. We were instructed to come one at a time and as unobtrusively as possible to the railroad terminal on the New Jersey littoral of the Hudson where Senator Aldrich’s private car would be in readiness attached to the rear-end of a train to the south. Once aboard the private car we began to observe the taboo that had been fixed on last names. We addressed one another as Ben, Paul, Nelson and Abe. Davison and I adopted even deeper disguises abandoning our first names. On the theory that we were always right, he became Wilbur and I became Orville after those two aviation pioneers the Wright brothers. The servants and train crew may have known the identities of one or two of us, but they did not know all and it was the names of all printed together that would’ve made our mysterious journey significant in Washington, in Wall Street, even in London. Discovery we knew simply must not happen.”

Why not? why the secrecy? what’s the big deal about a group of bankers getting together in private and talking about banking or even banking legislation. And the answer is provided by Vanderlip himself in the same article. He said: “If it were to be exposed publicly that our particular group had gotten together and written a banking bill, that bill would have no chance whatever of passage by Congress.” Why not? Because the purpose of the bill was to break the grip of the money trust and it was written by the money trust. And had that fact been known at the get-go, we would never have had a Federal Reserve System because as Vanderlip said it would have had no chance of passage at all by Congress. So it was essential to keep that whole thing a secret as it has remained a secret even to this day. Not exactly a secret that you couldn’t discover because anybody can go to the library and dig this out, but it is certainly not taught in textbooks. We don’t know any of this in the official literature from the Federal Reserve System because that was like asking the fox to build the henhouse and install the security system.

That was the reason for the secrecy at the meeting. Now we know something very important about the Federal Reserve that we didn’t know before, but there’s much more to it than that. Consider the composition of this group. Here we had the Morgans, the Rockefellers, Kuhn, Loeb & Company, the Rothschilds and the Warburgs. Anything strange about that mixture? These were competitors. These were the major competitors in the field of investment and banking in those days; these were the giants. Prior to this period they were beating their heads against each other, blood all over the battlefield fighting for dominance in the financial markets of the world. Not only in New York but London, Paris and everywhere. And here they are sitting around a table coming to an agreement of some kind. What’s going on here? We need to ask a few questions.

This is extremely significant because it happened precisely at that point in American history where business was undergoing a major and fundamental change in ideology. Prior to this point, American business had been operating under the principles of private enterprise–free enterprise competition is what made American great, what caused it to surpass all of the other nations of the world. Once we had achieved that pinnacle of performance, however, this was the point in history where the shift was going away from competition toward monopoly. This has been described in many textbooks as the dawning of the era of the cartel and this was what was happening. For the fifteen year period prior to the meeting on Jekyll Island, the very investment groups about which we are speaking were coming together more and more and engaging in joint ventures rather than competing with each other. The meeting on Jekyll Island was merely the culmination of that trend where they came together completely and decided not to compete–they formed a cartel.

I need to define that word so that you will know what I mean when I use the word cartel. It is a group of independently owned businesses which come together for the purpose of reducing or eliminating competition between themselves to enhance their profit margin or to secure their positions in the market. They do this by various means one of which is price fixing–no competition on price. There are other means. If we were forming a cartel here I might insist that I get the north and you can have the south and we won’t compete. Or I would say I’ll produce the gizmo and you can have the widget and we won’t compete or we’ll share patents and processes and whatever we do we agree to eliminate competition between ourselves. The more layers of agreement that we put one on top of the other, the more we become encased in this cartel structure and we become as one insofar as the market is concerned even though within that grouping we are separately owned.

This is just as true with a banking cartel as it is with any other industry. We come to the conclusion when we analyze the nature of the Federal Reserve System how it operates, read the Federal Reserve Act, place it against the context of the historical background and we come smack to the realization that the Federal Reserve System although it parades around looking as though it’s a government operation of some kind, is merely a cartel of banks right under our noses and it is protected by law. I sometimes get the impression that it’s been there dangerously operating all these years and we didn’t even know it. I saw a video some years ago about the lava tubes in Hawaii. They are very impressive because apparently once in a while the ground will just break out, a hole will fall down and you can look into the hole and you see that there’s a river of lava actually flowing just a few feet under your feet and you don’t even know it’s down there unless something breaks through and you hope you’re not on the piece that breaks through. I got the feeling that this is how the Federal Reserve has been operating right under our feet; this cartel has been running and we didn’t even know it because that fact has been carefully concealed from us.

Conclusion number 2 about the Federal Reserve System, a very important thing that we didn’t know is the cartel. There’s even more to it than that. Perhaps the third ingredient is the most important of all and that is the realization that this cartel went into partnership with the government. Now we have hold of something extremely significant. Cartels often go into partnership with governments because they need the force of law to enforce their cartel agreement but in this case they did it in spades.

Whenever a partnership is formed there has to be a benefit to the partners otherwise they don’t form it. So we need to ask the question what is the benefit, the payoff, for these two partners? Why did they go into it? Why did the government go into a partnership like this and why does the banking cartel? In answering those questions we finally come to grips with the reality of what this creature from Jekyll Island is. Let’s take a look at that; what’s the payoff to these two partners? In order to see that we’ll have to examine in some detail the mechanism by which the Federal Reserve System creates money. This is a real interesting study. I call it the “Mandrake Mechanism” named after that comic-book character of the 40s, Mandrake the Magician, who could create something out of nothing and then wave his cape and it was back into the void again. That’s a pretty descriptive phrase for the way the Federal Reserve System does it.

Let’s take a look at it and see how they create money through the Mandrake Mechanism. I am going to do this in a very simplified form. I want to warn you that it’s going to sound like it’s too simple. It’s not. I’m going to strip out all the banking terminology, all the banker language, all the accounting phrases that need to be defined and speak in very plain English that anybody can understand. It may sound to you as though I’ve simplified it too much and I want to assure you that in spite of the simple language everything I’m going to tell you is absolutely 100% technically accurate. The other thing I want to warn you about is don’t try and make sense out of this because it can’t be done; this does not make sense and you’ll blow a fuse trying to make it make sense. Just remember that it is a scam and if you keep that fact in mind then you’ll have no trouble comprehending what’s going on.

Here’s how it works. It starts with the government side of the partnership, it starts in Congress which is spending money like crazy. It spends far more money than it takes in. It is spending way beyond its income. How can it do that? Basically this is what happens. Let’s say Congress needs an extra billion dollars today so it goes to the treasury and says “we want a billion dollars” and the treasury official says “you guys have got to be kidding, we don’t have any money here, you spent it all a long time ago, everything that we’ve taken in taxes you fellows have spent by March.” Congress says “we thought that was true but we thought we’d stop by just in case somebody sent some more in.” They get together and they go down the street and they get the idea that we’ll borrow the money. So they stop at the printing office and they don’t print money at the printing office, they print certificates and they’re very fancy things with borders on the edge with an eagle across the top and a seal at the bottom and it says “US Government Bond” or “Note” or “Bill” depending on the length of the maturity of it. If you hold it up to the light it really says “IOU” because that’s what it is. They print these things up and it looks very impressive and then they offer them to the private sector; they’re hoping that people will come up and loan money to the federal government and a lot of people do and are anxious to lend money to their government. Why? Because they’ve been told by their investment advisors that that’s the most sound investment that you can make. Why? We’ve all heard that these loans are backed by the full faith and credit of the US government. They’re not quite sure what that means but it sure sounds good. I’d like to explain for you who are in doubt what that means. The full faith and credit of the US government means that the government solemnly promises to pay back that loan plus interest if it has to take everything you and I have in the form of taxes in order to do it, it’s going to do it. It will take everything we have if necessary to hold its pledge. People don’t realize that they’re putting themselves on the line, they’re going to get their own money back minus a substantial handling fee.

Plenty of money is loaned to the government but never enough. Congress needs more money than that. They say not to worry. They go further down the street to the Federal Reserve building. The Fed has been waiting for them, that’s one of the reasons it was created. By the time they get inside the Federal Reserve building the officer of the Fed is opening his desk drawer. He knows they’re going to be there and he’s ready and he pulls out his checkbook and he writes a check to the US Treasury for one billion dollars or whatever the amount is that they need. He signs the check and gives it to the treasury official.

We need to stop here for a minute and ask a question. Where did they get a billion dollars to give to the treasury? who put that money into the account at the Federal Reserve System? The amazing answer is there is no money in the account at the Federal Reserve System. In fact, technically, there isn’t even an account, there is only a checkbook. That’s all. That billion dollars springs into being at precisely the instant the officer signs that check and that is called “monetizing the debt,” that’s the phrase they throw at you. That means they just wrote a check, a big rubber check. If you and I were to do that we would go to jail but they can do it because Congress wants them to do it. In fact, this is the payoff, this is the benefit to the government side of this partnership, this is how the government gets its instant access to any amount of money at any time without having to go to the taxpayer directly and justify it or ask for it. Otherwise, they would have to come to the taxpayer and say we’re going to raise your taxes another $3,000 this year and of course if they did that, they would be voted out of office real fast. They like the Mandrake Mechanism because it’s a no questions asked source of money. You may have noticed that it’s been many years since Congress has even discussed what anything costs, it’s not an issue. It doesn’t make any difference what the cost is because regardless of the overrun they know they can go down the street to the Federal Reserve and by law the officer has to write that big check and give it to them and they’re off and running.

There in a nutshell is the reason the government likes the Mandrake Mechanism–easy instant access to any amount of money of any kind without the taxpayer being involved directly in the loop. But what about the banking side? This is where it really gets interesting. Let’s go back to that billion dollar check. The treasury official deposits the check into the government’s checking account and all of a sudden the computers start to click and it shows that the government has a billion dollar deposit meaning that it can now write a billion dollars in checks against that deposit which it starts to do real fast. For the sake of our analysis, let’s just follow $100 out of that billion in a check that for some reason they write to the fellow that delivers the mail to our door. The postal worker gets a check for $100 and he looks at this thing and he can’t imagine in his wildest dreams that that money didn’t exist two days ago anywhere in the universe. It’s spendable so he wouldn’t even care if you told him. He deposits it now into his personal checking account. Now we’re finally out of the Federal Reserve and out of the government’s check and we’re into the private banking system. We’re in finally to that part of the partnership which is involved in the cartel. A $100 deposit has now been made in the local bank and the banker sees that and runs over to the loan window and opens it up and says “attention, everybody, we have money to loan, someone just deposited $100.” Everyone is overjoyed at that because that’s one of the reasons they come to the bank, they come to borrow money. That’s a sign of national health if you’re in debt so they’re anxious to know that the bank has money to loan, they line up for these loans. They heard the banker and they say $100 that’s not very much and he says not to worry we can loan up to $900 based on that $100 deposit. How can that be done? It gets complicated the way they do it and I’ll tell you in very simple terms. The Federal Reserve System requires that the banks hold no less than 10% of their deposits in reserve. The bank holds 10% of that $100 in reserve, $10, and it loans this first fellow in line $90. What does he do with it? He wants to spend it so he puts it into his checking account. In fact it probably goes directly into his checking account. Let’s assume that they gave it to him and he puts it back, when he puts it back it’s a deposit isn’t it?

Only a $100 deposit but $900 in loans and that deposit is still there. Where did the $900 come from and the answer is the same–there was no money. This springs into existence precisely at the point at which the loan is made. Notice the difference, an important distinction is when the money is created out of nothing for the government it is spent by the government. On the banking side, however, when it’s created out of nothing it’s not spent by the banks it is loaned by the banks to you and to me and we spend it. Notice that when they loan it to us we have to pay them interest on it. Think about this for a minute. This money was created out of nothing and yet they collect interest on it which means that they collect interest on nothing. Not too shabby! What a concept, why didn’t I think of that! I wish I had a magic checkbook like that where I could just write checks all day long and didn’t have to have any money any place just checks, loan it to you folks and you’re silly enough to pay me interest on it. That’s how it works.

Now you see what the benefit is to the banking cartel for being involved in this Federal Reserve System, interest on nothing. The process doesn’t end there, however. It has consequences to you and to me. I’ve heard some people say “isn’t that interesting, these fellows are sure smart, I guess they deserve to be rich.” It’s as though we’re out of the loop, it doesn’t affect us any, they got rich but we’re ok. Well no, they got rich alright but they got it by taking it from us. How does that work? Let’s follow this.

This newly created money goes out into the economy and it dilutes down the value of the dollars that were already out there. It’s like pouring water into a pot of soup, it dilutes the soup. So by throwing more and more money into the economic soup out there the money gets weaker and weaker and weaker and we have the phenomenon called inflation which is the appearance of rising prices. I emphasis the word “appearance” because in reality prices are not rising at all. What we’re seeing is that the value of the dollar is going down, that’s the real side of the equation. If we had real money based on gold or silver or anything tangible that couldn’t just be created out of thin air, it could be based on microphones, that they couldn’t just create with the stroke of a pen, you would see then that prices would remain stable over a long period of time.

To illustrate that point, it’s interesting to know that if we had lived in ancient Rome with a one ounce gold coin we would’ve been able to buy a very fine toga, a hand-crafted belt and a pair of sandals–that was the price in Rome. Today, if we have a one ounce gold coin what can we buy with it? We can go into any men’s store and buy a very fine suit, a hand-crafted belt and a pair of shoes. The price of these items hasn’t changed in thousands of years when expressed in terms of real money but when expressed in terms of these things we carry around in our pockets called Federal Reserve notes which is not really money at all, fiat money anyway, the prices keep going up and up and up because the value of those units keeps going down and down and down because they keep making more and more and more of them and dumping them into the economic soup.

That’s still not the end of the process. We lost some purchasing power through this process called inflation. We lost something and very few people ask the question “who got it”? It’s as though nobody got it, we all lost it, it’s like it evaporated and went up to heaven somewhere. No, somebody got it. For every loser there’s a winner. Or I should say for every fifty losers there’s one winner that gets it all. Somebody got it. Who? Those people that got our lost purchasing power are the ones who were right up at the point where the fresh money was injected into the economic pot of soup. The ones that got the money first gained because they had full purchasing power at that instant when the money was created. By the time they spent it and gave it to you and you spent it on something and gave it to him and by the time that it got out to the edge of the pot where most of us are it’s diluted. The ones that were right up at the nozzle got our lost purchasing power. Who are they? Obviously the government was up there first. Remember the billion dollar check, the very beginning of this process went to the government and they spent it instantly and that money went out into the economy and that was the beginning of this ripple effect. Who else? The next ones were the people who were up at the loan window. They got the money that was freshly created by the banking system because they were the borrowers. We all know that in times of inflation borrowers gain, this is no mystery. We’ve been told and advised to borrow money and stay up to the hilt in debt because you borrow in dollars but because of inflation you can pay back with 50 cent pieces.

So everybody knows about this part of it. What they forget is that the alleged benefits of doing this are surrendered to the bank in the form of interest payments. They’re really not gaining that much. The gain that they are getting through the inflation process they’re having to give to the bank in the form of interest on nothing. And it seems that they’re gaining because they have these paper profits. The value of this real estate is going up and up and up or the value of my stock is going up and up and up but it’s all paper. As far as purchasing power is concerned it’s not going up, up, up at all. Nevertheless they’re still having to pay for that illusion in the form of interest payments on nothing.

Then comes the inevitable contraction of the economy. People don’t realize that the economy moves traditionally like a sawtooth–it goes up gradually for a long period of time and seems like forever it’s going to go up, you can plan on it forever and don’t worry about it and then clunk! it falls down very quickly and then it starts the next long climb and people forget that every once in a while it comes down very abruptly. When it contracts people are extended out there and they can’t service their debt and make the payments and they lose their assets.

Another interesting thing about this is that when the bank loans you money which it created out of nothing, it costed nothing to make it, it wants something from you. It wants you to sign on the dotted line and pledge your house, your car, your inventory, your assets so that in case for any reason you cannot continue to make your payments they get your marbles, they get all of your assets. They’re not going to lose anything on this. Whether it’s expansion or contraction, inflation or deflation the banks are covered and we like sheep go right along with it because we haven’t figured it out, we don’t know that this is a scam. Of course we have no choice either right now because it’s all enforced by law. We have no escape. We have no choice but it’s even better that we don’t understand it because we can’t complain about it either. There you have it.

The two groups that got our lost purchasing power–is anyone surprised?–the two members of the partnership, the government and the banking cartel. The two groups that comprise the Federal Reserve System.

This lost purchasing power which is going from us to them is a tax. We don’t think of it as a tax but it is. We have no escape from it. In fact, it’s more a tax than the income tax or the excise tax which you can escape in one way or another. You can’t escape this one. There are no deductions, no exemptions, everyone pays it and it is the most cruel, unfair tax of all because it falls most heavily on those who can least afford to pay it. It falls on those on fixed incomes, those who are retired. Anyone who has saved their money is paying this tax in direct proportion to the degree to which they have been frugal. It’s a tax even though we don’t think of it as that and it’s time to think of it as that. It’s a tax that goes from us to the government and to the banking cartel.

Let’s summarize. What is the benefit to the members of the partnership? The government benefits because it is able to tax the American people any amount it wishes through a process which the people do not understand called inflation. They don’t realize they’re being taxed which makes it real handy when you’re going for re-election. On the banking side they’re able to earn perpetual interest on nothing. I emphasis the word “perpetual” because remember when the loan is paid back it’s turned around and loaned out to somebody else. Once that money is created the object of the bank is to stay “loaned up” as they say. In reality the banks can never stay 100% loaned up and that ratio varies a lot but the objective is to stay loaned up to whatever extent is possible. Generally speaking once this money is created in the loan process it is out there in the economy forever, perpetually earning interest for one of the members of the banking cartel which created that money.

There you have in a condensed form a crash course on the Federal Reserve System and I can assure you that you know more about the Federal Reserve than you would probably if you enrolled in a four year course in economics because they don’t teach this reality in school.

So what, they say? Can you imagine that? I knew when I wrote this book and it got out that there would be some objection to it but I never dreamed what it would be. I couldn’t think of any objection to it, I thought what are they going to say, what are the defenders of the Federal Reserve System going to say to me? I figured they were going to try and pick some error that I had made in some technical issue and try and make me look like a buffoon. But I never dreamed that the only opposition, at least that I’ve run into so far, is the question “so what”?

I was on the Pat Buchanan radio show about a month ago and they have a cohost which is usually a representative of the opposing point of view and this day they had a fellow by the name of Barry Lind(?) who was an ACLU type high-powered intellectual and I was kind of nervous thinking here it comes, I’m going to get it now and I’m going to be made a fool of right in front of all these millions of people out there in radio land. I was really worried. It’s kind of hard on these radio shows to get your point across as they don’t let you speak like you folks let me do here. The lion’s share of the time goes to Buchanan and then the cohost gets his shot and then the commercials come in and you’ve got three minutes to say your whole thing and they’re always interrupting you. I made my little shot as best I could and it was Barry Lind’s turn and he looked at me and he said: “Well, what you say is true, but so what?” I couldn’t believe it. And then he capped it with, which is the real argument: “We’re living well aren’t we?”

This is an interesting question and I have run into that repeatedly since then. What are you complaining about? we’re living well aren’t we? And the implication is that without this scam we couldn’t be living well, without this scam somehow we’d be still crawling around in caves. We wouldn’t have society with a high standard of living, we wouldn’t have any of the things that we cherish without this scam, that’s the whole implication. So how do you answer that? So what?

First of all, we are not living that well. People like Barry Lind are undoubtedly living very well and there are plenty of people in the system who are living very well. Generally those are the ones who are up at the nozzle where this new money is coming into the system or they’re involved in the government or they have government subsidies of they’re close to the nozzle. For most people, away from the nozzle, it’s not going so well, we’re not living that well. It is a matter of fact that the only reason that America has been able to maintain the appearance of a high standard of living since the Federal Reserve System has gotten into full swing, especially after WWII, is because of the shift towards two family incomes. It now takes two working people to just maintain the semblance of where we used to be with one person working in the family. And in spite of the two family income real wages are down for the common man today, real wages in terms of the number of hours a person must work in order to acquire the necessities of life. Young couples who are living on a single income now have a lower standard of living than their parents did. The net worth of the average household is falling. The leisure time for the average American is shrinking. The percentage of families who own their own homes is dropping. The age at which a family acquires its first home is rising. The number of families that are counted in the middle class is falling. The number of people below the poverty line is rising. Personal bankruptcies today are about three times what they were in the 1960s and over 90% of Americans are broke at the age of 65. So we’re not living well at all as a result of this creature.

Furthermore, there’s another thing wrong with it. That is that when you have a money supply based upon thin air it not only expands but it contracts. If it were based on gold or silver or microphones, the money supply couldn’t expand and contract because there they are but when it’s politically motivated it can contract and that is the core cause of all of the booms and busts that have plagued America for so many years. In other words, this is the concept behind the recession and the depression and that is another thing that’s wrong with it.

The third thing that’s wrong with it is that it is dishonest. You don’t really need anything more than that do you? Even if it were the element that was creating our prosperity, even if it didn’t cause recessions and depressions the fact that it is fraud, the fact that it is deception, it’s dishonest and theft is really a good enough reason in my opinion to get rid of it. That’s what’s wrong with this scam.

Let’s go back to Jekyll Island. They had an interesting problem there which was what to call their creature. This partnership between government and banks which we’ve been discussing was not new with the Federal Reserve System. In fact, it was a concept that was created in Europe in the 16th century. It was perfected with the formation of the Bank of England in 1694 and from that point forward all of the governments of Europe had used this Mandrake Mechanism. They didn’t call it the Mandrake Mechanism, of course, they called it a “central bank,” that’s the technical phrase for this partnership. If you want to look it up in a textbook or encyclopedia you’ll find it under the heading “Central Bank.”

From the Bank of England forward all the governments of Europe had central banks for a very good reason. The kings and princes of Europe had learned from hard experience that they could raise the taxes of their subjects only so high and then they had a revolt on their hands and they tended to lose their jobs (and heads). It appears that that natural level was about 40-43%; people will tolerate taxes up to about 40-43% and then they start digging in their heels and they just won’t allow it to go any further. But with the central bank mechanism in place the lid was off. Now these governments could tax their people 50%, 60%, 70% and in some cases 80% of everything they produced and they did not have a revolt on their hands. They did not have resentment because the people didn’t know that they were paying a tax. They knew that prices were going up, but they didn’t understand why, they didn’t know who was getting their lost purchasing power.

It was a nifty arrangement for these governments. It was at that point in history that governments’ wars began to heat up. They always had wars but they were relatively small things because wars are expensive and the people won’t pay more than 40% for everything including wars. But now that they had a way to tax higher than that, they could engage in very expensive wars. It’s at that point in history that Europe plunged headlong into continuous war and big, very, very expensive wars. The people paid for them uncomplainingly through the process of inflation.

So when it came time to transplant this concept to America these seven men on Jekyll Island knew very well that they were creating a central bank; that was the reason that Paul Warburg was so valuable because he was the man with the intense knowledge, the detailed technical knowledge of how central banks operate. But they had a problem. How could they conceal that from the American people because Congress was already on record as saying they did not want a central bank in America. I don’t think they knew what that phrase really meant, but they knew that Europe had them, whatever they were, and we didn’t want any. They said in America if we’re going to have banking reform we don’t want what they do over in Europe, we want something that is unique for America and its principles and economy.

The problem before these men on Jekyll Island is what to call the central bank so that nobody would know it was a central bank. And they theorized over this and this was their strategy: they said first let’s give it a name and we’ll add the word “Federal” to it to make it sound like it’s government. Then we’ll add the word “Reserve” to make it seem like there are reserves somewhere, like it was a banking concept. We’ll add the word “System,” a very important word even though it may seem obscure now because remember in those days the concern was the concentration of financial power in New York so they had to sell the idea of a system of regional banks which would diffuse that power all over the nation. First they talked about ten regions and then they said that wasn’t enough, twelve regions, we’ll have twelve banks. And we’ll build big buildings out there in all of those regions so the local yokels can go and look at the building and say “golly we’ve got one of those out here.” Diffusion of power away from New York; you can go and touch the building. The word “System” was very important.

When you look at it you realize that what they created there was not federal, there are no reserves, it’s not a system at all in the sense of diffusion of power and these Federal Reserve banks aren’t even banks. On all four words we’re dealing with appearances of the fourth kind. It was brilliant strategy.

The next thing was to sell this creature to the public. The first draft of the Federal Reserve Act as it was presented to Congress was called the Aldrich Bill named after the sponsor, Senator Nelson Aldrich. This was against the good advice of Paul Warburg. He said: “Nelson, don’t put your name on that bill because you are so identified with big business interests that Congress will vote it down; the people will not accept it.” And apparently Aldrich’s ego was too big. He must’ve said: “Well no, after all I’m highly respected in the Senate and I am the Chairman of the National Monetary Commission” and for whatever reason he insisted that his name be on the bill. It appears that he wanted to go down in history as the originator of the Federal Reserve System. Warburg was right. When the bill was introduced Congress put thumbs-down on it. “The Bill of Big Business.”

They took the bill back for it was just a minor setback, they scrambled the paragraphs around a little bit, took Aldrich’s name off real fast and they found a couple of Democrats to sponsor the bill. This was different. Everybody knew that the Republicans represented big business but they also knew that Democrats represented the common man, the little guy, the fellow on the assembly line (like Ted Kennedy). They found a couple of millionaire Democrats to sponsor the bill. They found Carter Glass in the House and Senator Robert Owen who himself was a banker. Now it was the Glass-Owen bill and it was totally different and acceptable.

The next thing, Aldrich and Vanderlip began to give speeches and interviews to newspaper reporters condemning the bill. They said: “This bill will be ruinous to banking. It will be terrible for the country.” By the time the common man read that in his newspaper he said: “Oh golly, I guess these big bankers don’t like the bill very much so it must be pretty good.”

These fellows were not stupid. You have to give them credit. They didn’t get to be where they were by being country bumpkins. They understood politics, they understood mass psychology and they played their cards exceedingly well. Meanwhile these same individuals out of their own pockets were paying the price for the costs of bringing up what they called grassroots study clubs all over the country. They sponsored these clubs and they held public meetings and printed brochures and pamphlets extolling the virtues of the Federal Reserve System. They gave large amounts of money to some of the better known universities in America; they created newly formed departments of economics with that money; they hand picked their own people to be the professors to head up those departments and then those professors with all of their academic credentials gave speeches and wrote scholarly essays extolling the virtues of the Federal Reserve System. And then at the insistence of Paul Warburg who was forever the master strategist, they added several very sound provisions to the Federal Reserve Bill. By that I mean they added some provisions which seriously restricted the ability of the Federal Reserve to create money out of nothing. Warburg’s associates said, “Paul, what are you doing? We don’t want those in there this is our bill.” And his response was this, he said, “Relax fellas, don’t you get it? Our object is to get the bill passed. We can fix it up later.” Those were his exact words. “We can fix it up later.” He was so right. It was because of those provisions that they won over the support of William Jennings Bryan the head of the Populist Movement, the last hold-out against the bill. Bryan was concerned that this would be an instrument for ruining the nation’s money supply but when he saw those provisions he said, “Oh well, those are good provisions, I guess I can support the bill now” never dreaming that this was temporary. Everything is temporary in politics. When people go to sleep things can get changed.

Warburg was right and they fixed it up later. The Federal Reserve Act since it was passed has been amended over 100 times. Every one of those provisions were long ago removed and many more have been added which greatly expand the power and reach of the Federal Reserve System to create money out of nothing. With this kind of professional strategy and deception these people were real professionals and the public didn’t stand a chance. It is no surprise that popular support was finally gained for the bill and on December 22, 1913 the bill was passed by Congress and the following day was signed into law by President Wilson and the creature from Jekyll Island finally moved into Washington, DC.

Let’s stand back from the creature a few paces and take a look at its general form and shape and see what it is we got. We got a corporation chartered by Congress which was given an exclusive franchise to create our nation’s money supply. We got a mechanism whereby Congress has been able to raise unlimited taxes from the American people without them even knowing that they’re paying a tax and we got a mechanism whereby the banks can earn perpetual interest on nothing. That is the shape and form of the creature from Jekyll Island.

Here’s an interesting question, Who owns the Federal Reserve System? You hear a lot of discussion on this particularly on talk radio nowadays. When the subject of money comes up somebody calls in and says, “Did you know the Federal Reserve is completely owned by the private banks? It’s a private corporation. What we need to do,” they say “is abolish the Fed and turn it over to the government so they can operate it for the benefit of the people.” Some of you are laughing and I’m sure there are some people here thinking what’s wrong with that so let’s analyze it.

First of all it is a half-truth and it is a non-solution. Let’s deal with the half-truth first. It is true that the Federal Reserve System is not an agency of the federal government in any shape or form. As I mentioned before, it is a corporation that is chartered by Congress and like all corporations it has stock certificates and those stock certificates in this case are held by the banks within the Federal Reserve System. Every bank that’s in the system is an owner of the Federal Reserve–remember this is a cartel. They own it in one sense of the word, in the sense that they have stock certificates but up to that point it looks as though it has all the attributes of a privately held corporation. But that’s as far as it goes because those stock certificates do not carry with them any of the attributes of private ownership. For example, the holders of these certificates cannot sell them. If you can’t sell something then you don’t really own it, that’s one of the tests of ownership, your ability to dispose of it. You cannot sell it. Furthermore the larger banks put up more money than the smaller banks, it’s a ratio to their assets, so the larger banks have more stock certificates in the system than the small ones and yet regardless of the number that they hold, every bank has just one vote. There’s another violation of the principle of private ownership. Furthermore that vote doesn’t buy them anything. They can’t vote for anything of substance; they cannot vote for their national management which is the most important thing, isn’t it? The board of directors and chairman of the Federal Reserve System are appointed by the President, they’re not elected by the banks that are part of the system, the President does that.

All that the local banks can vote for with their vote are the boards of directors of the regional banks, so-called, which are subdivisions within the system. They can’t even vote for the leadership in their local subdivisions because the chairman and the vice-chairman of those 12 regional banks are appointed by the national board. They can vote for their officers at those regional banks, the president, the vice-president and treasurer but guess what? Those are subject to veto by the national board. Get the picture? All power has always been at the top of this system. The only thing that the charter allows them to vote for, those boards of directors, of substance is to set the interest rates within their regions. But this should come as no surprise to anybody that even that is subject to veto by the national board. You see this concept of diffusion of power throughout the regions of the US is a scam. There is no power at the local level. There is nothing that these boards of directors who are voted in by the banks who hold the certificates can do of substance. All they’re allowed to do really is play golf.

It is not a privately held corporation in the traditional sense of the word. This idea of diffusion of power over the 12 regional banks was just a necessity of 1913 to sell the concept to the American people. If it hadn’t been for this aversion against the concentration of power in New York they would never have had these 12 regions; it’s just a leftover from the necessity to sell it and doesn’t serve any function whatsoever. So it’s not a corporation in the traditional sense of the word, it’s not a government agency in the traditional sense of the word so what is it? It’s a hybrid, part corporation and part government, part private, part government. In fact, it is exactly what you would expect it to be considering the fact that it is a partnership between the private banking cartel and the government. It’s a unique structure which was designed to perform a unique function.

Is it a solution to abolish the Fed and turn it over to the Congress to run on behalf of the people? At least we get the dirty bankers out of the loop, right? And that makes everybody feel good…well, we’re not paying interest to the banks anymore but what happens? Now the government is running the whole thing by itself. Now that solves a lot of problems doesn’t it? Now they’re creating money out of nothing all by themselves. Well, they’ve always been able to do that. The government doesn’t want to do that, that’s the reason they got into this partnership in the beginning because when the government creates money directly it’s too obvious. That’s why the kings and princes of Europe couldn’t do it. They printed money, that’s how they did it generally, but when the government prints money you can see all this money around that says the government on there and you know exactly what’s going on. They like to work through the banking system because when it appears in your checking account it doesn’t say government on it and you don’t know how it got there.

The government really doesn’t want to do it that way but even if they did it wouldn’t make much difference because it’s not important who owns the Federal Reserve System. The important thing is what it does and as long as it a central bank, which means as long as it has the power and the mandate to create money out of nothing it will create money out of nothing. That’s what it will do and it will continue to do exactly the same thing and be run no doubt by the same people as it is now and we would not have solved anything. We must keep in mind that in Europe all of the central banks there are in fact direct agencies of their respective governments; they are not hybrid organizations at all like ours. And yet in those countries they do exactly the same as the Federal Reserve System has been doing here. Just turning it over to the government is a non-solution.

Let’s talk briefly about what the objectives of the Federal Reserve System are. We’ve been told over and over again that the purpose of the Fed is to stabilize the economy. Right now with the interest rates going up, up, up what are we told? why are they doing that? Well, that’s to stabilize the economy so we won’t have massive inflation right? It’s being done for us folks! Don’t you feel just warm all over knowing that they’re looking out for you? That’s always the answer; the purpose of the Fed is to look out for us and stabilize the economy, put an end to banking anarchy and all that sort of thing. Right now the textbook that is most commonly used in our school systems in economics is a book written by Paul Samuelson and in that book here’s what he says regarding the purpose of the Fed: “The Federal Reserve sprang from the panic of 1907 with its alarming epidemic of bank failures. The country was fed-up once and for all with the anarchy of unstable private banking.” That’s what the students are learning.

Let’s let that go for the moment and say ok if that is the purpose of the Fed, let’s give it a report card and see how well it has done in stabilizing the economy. Since it was created in 1913 the Federal Reserve System has presided over the crashes of 1921 and 1929, the Great Depression of 1929-1939, recessions in the years 1953, 1957, 1969, 1975 and 1981, and a stock market Black Monday in 1987. We all know that corporate debt is soaring, personal debt is greater than ever before, both business and personal bankruptcies are at an all-time high, banks and savings and loan associations have failed in greater numbers than ever before in our history, interest on the national debt now consumes half of all of our tax dollars, heavy industry has all but been replaced by overseas competition, we’re facing an international trade deficit for the first time in our history, 75% of downtown Los Angeles and other metropolitan areas are now owned by foreigners and over half of the nation now officially is in a state of recession.

That is the report card for the Federal Reserve System after 80 years of stabilizing our economy. I don’t even think it’s controversial to say that it has failed to meet its stated objectives. The only controversial part is why has it failed? My answer is because those have never been its real objectives at all.

What are its objectives? What are the objectives of any cartel? To make money for the members of the cartel, to improve the profit margins of the members of the cartel and to stabilize themselves in the marketplace. That is the true objective of the Federal Reserve System. Now if we hold that up as our guiding principle and give the Federal Reserve a report card it gets a different grade.

In particular I’d like to have you look with me at three particular objectives which were very well discussed in that period in which the Federal Reserve System was created. We always have to go back to that because we can learn so much from that period of history. There were three things that the bankers, particularly the ones on Jekyll Island, wanted the Federal Reserve Act to accomplish. What are they? The first one was to stop the erosion of their power away from New York. Just the opposite of what the Federal Reserve Act was sold to us as to accomplish, to keep the power of New York. They were concerned that as the nation was expanding westward and southward new banks were springing up all along the frontier and every year a little bit more of the nation’s capital would drift away from New York. They still had the lion’s share, of course, but they could see the chart and they knew that they had to put a stop to that now while they still had the power to do so. Competition is a sin said John D. Rockefeller I and that includes competition from these upstart banks.

It’s a good point to mention that when I’m talking about the banking cartel I’m talking primarily about the big New York banks and not the local bank down the street that’s struggling under the system. One of the purposes of the Federal Reserve System was to keep the lid on those new competitive banks so they could never grow and become large like the ones on Wall Street. The small banks have always been the target in this system and needed to be kept in line, to be regulated out of existence, a process which you’ve noticed has been going on for many, many years. There is objective number one, to keep control over the money markets in New York.

Objective number two was to reverse the trend of what is called private capital formation. That’s banker language for a process in which an individual or a corporation uses their own savings to pay for something instead of going to the bank and borrowing it, if you can imagine that happening. It was happening at the turn of the century. The trend was that businesses in particular were withholding some of their dividends each quarter and putting that money into a sinking fund and then as the money accumulated or as the capital formed, then they finally had enough that they could use their own money to build that new factory or to launch a research & development project or whatever instead of going to the banks and borrowing for it. The banks were very concerned over this trend because this is their life-blood. Loaning money is what they do so how do you loan money when people don’t want to borrow it? The answer they knew, and they talked a lot about this, was to lower interest rates, get those rates down so that they were so attractive that people would be crazy not to come to the banks and borrow money at those good interest rates.

How do you lower interest rates? Today it’s easy when you’ve got the lever at the Federal Reserve you just throw it up or down and interest rates go up or down; you have total control over it. In 1913 there was no lever. The money in those days was backed by gold and silver and they couldn’t control it. They hated that. These guys hate gold and silver behind money because under those conditions interest rates are the result of the natural forces of supply and demand; they couldn’t just create money out of nothing. It was the result of the interaction of millions of people bidding for products and services and digging money out of the ground, literally gold and silver and converting into money.

They were looking for a way to artificially push the interest rates down. How do you do that? They said the only way you can do that is with a flexible currency. That was the cry that they put up in those days. What the nation needs, they said, is a flexible currency to meet the demands of industry and agriculture. You still hear that phrase today–“flexible currency.” What does that mean? You need a dictionary sometimes to look these phrases up. Flexible currency does not mean the paper stuff in our pockets that bends, it means money created out of nothing. The trick here is not hard to figure out. If you can create money out of nothing, you don’t have to charge an awful lot of interest on it to show a profit. It’s that simple. If you have a flexible currency you can in fact lower interest rates and still do pretty well, can’t you? They wanted a flexible currency so they could lower interest rates and entice people back into the banks to borrow money and to reverse the trend toward private capital formation. Objective number two.

The third objective was to pass on the inevitable losses within the banking system on to the taxpayer in the name of protecting the people. Those were three of the major objectives at the time the Federal Reserve System was created. I say those are the true objectives of the Fed. On that basis, let’s give it a report card.

Did it keep control in New York in the hands of the larger banks? The answer is a resounding yes. Anyone who knows about the financial markets knows that this is definitely what’s happened. Yes we have big banks in the west and in the south but they’re nothing compared to those banks in New York which are astride the world with offices in Peking and Moscow and Africa and everywhere; these are the giants and they have remained that way from the very beginning because of the Federal Reserve System.

A few years ago there was a book that was published by Simon & Schuster and it was called “Secrets of the Temple” written by William Grider(?). It was a best-seller and it was advertised as a scathing attack against the Federal Reserve System. When I heard that I couldn’t believe my ears. A scathing attack against the Federal Reserve System published by Simon & Schuster? one of the big publishing houses? I thought, I don’t have to finish my own book, they’ve done it. So I ran down and got a copy of the book and devoured it and read it in one day and I was totally amazed on two points. First of all, much to my surprise, I did not expect this, Grider’s history was, I thought, excellent. I thought it would be a whitewash but his history was right-on. He had all the gory details and I couldn’t believe it but I knew these things were true because I was right then in the middle of researching them.

On the subject of the concentration of power in New York, I’d like to read to you an excerpt from Grider’s book. He said: “At the time [he’s talking about 1913] the conventional wisdom in Congress was that the government institution would finally harness the money trust, disarm its powers and establish broad democratic control over money and credit. The results were nearly the opposite. The money reforms enacted in 1913 in fact helped to preserve the status quo, to stabilize the old order. Money center bankers would not only gain dominance over the new central bank but would also enjoy new insulation against instability and their own decline. Once the Fed was in operation the steady diffusion of financial power halted. Wall Street maintained its dominant position and even enhanced it.”

The other thing that amazed me was Grider’s conclusion. He proved that the Federal Reserve had always acted against the public interest. He proved that it was designed to do that from the very beginning so what do you suppose his conclusion was regarding a solution? that we abolish the Fed? No, nothing that extreme. How about a major overhaul? No, not necessary. What then? Grider said, you see it’s all so complicated, we’re learning as we go, we’ve made a lot of mistakes but don’t worry folks we’re on it now, relax, it’s under control, all we need now is wiser men.

That is the kind of powderpuff criticism it takes to be published by Simon & Schuster or any of the other major publishing houses which are firmly interlocked in the investment web on Wall Street. It doesn’t make any difference how accurate your history is; it doesn’t make any difference how much you point with alarm or how righteous you may sound if you have no realistic solution to the problem then who cares? They like that because it gives the people the impression that something’s being done, somebody is really calling attention to the problem. But they have no solution or they’re carefully selected so that the ones with the real solutions do not get the media, do not get the major publishing houses.

This is a tactic which we have to better understand especially in these critical days ahead. A tactic of controlled opposition. It makes no difference how accurate you are when you’re pointing to the problems in America. If you don’t have a solution what difference does it make? If your solution is put wiser men in there or if your solution is vote Republican and don’t ask questions about what kind of Republican then you are controlled opposition and this is something we have to be very, very alert to in these critical days ahead.

Back to the topic. The Federal Reserve System gets an A on its report card for maintaining control over the financial markets in New York. What about reversing the trend toward private capital formation. Boy, did they ever. Periodically they get those interest rates down so low and everybody is lured into the banks. Borrow like crazy and then the economy crunches down and they’re all stuck with this overhead and they can’t make their interest payments.

We’ve seen businesses go out of existence because they cannot service their debt. You’ve seen people lose their homes and their cars because they cannot service their debt. There are many giant corporations today that are just hanging in there by the skin of their teeth because of their debt overhead. The fact is that many of these companies now send more money to the banks every quarter in the form of interest payments on their loans than they send to their stockholders as dividends on their stock. Think about that for a minute. The banks which had no part in the operation of the company whatsoever, the banks which made this money out of nothing are making more money from these industries than the people who work for the money, save the money, invested the money and risked the money to own those corporations. This is because they quite successfully reversed the trend toward private capital formation and they did it with a flexible currency. The Federal Reserve System gets an A+ on its report card for objective number two.

Finally, did they pass along their inevitable loses to the taxpayer in the name of protecting the people? This is what I call “Operation Bail-Out.” Every time one of the big banks gets into trouble, not the small banks remember, they’re the competition, the big banks get into trouble and they are bailed out at taxpayers’ expense. Always in the name of protecting the people. If a large corporation is in trouble because it can’t make its interest payments to the bank anymore, they go to Congress and say “we can’t let this corporation fold; look at the thousands of jobs that would be lost; look how the people would suffer.” When a third world country can no longer make its interest payments to a large bank in New York, what happens? The bank goes to Congress and says “you know, you’d better do something about this because if we have to write that loan off of our books we may be bankrupt, we could fold. And look at all of the depositors, good Americans, who have their accounts with us who would lose their deposit. Maybe the FDIC won’t be able to cover; we could have a crisis on our hands. If our bank falls maybe the other banks will fall too and we’ll have a national recession. Look how the people will suffer.” So Congress dutifully steps forward, remember it’s a partner in this, and votes the funds to guarantee the loans or in some way to pass the payments on directly or indirectly in some very ingenious methods to the taxpayer. That money is raised primarily through the Federal Reserve System and we pay it through the Mandrake Mechanism.

So the Federal Reserve System has done pretty well on that. In case you have missed a few of the more memorable games, I’d like to review them for you. Penn Central Railroad was bailed out in 1970. That was a good year because Lockheed Corporation was bailed out the same year. Commonwealth Bank of Detroit was bailed in 1972; New York City in 1975; Chrysler in 1978; First Pennsylvania Bank in 1980; Continental Illinois, the largest of the banks so far, in 1982. And look at all of these third world countries which cannot pay their interest payments. They are paying their interest payments and you’re doing it for them because the Federal Reserve System creates the money that we send to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank and then they give it to those countries so that they can pay the interest to the banks. Maybe you’ve missed that little trail but that’s how it works.

The Federal Reserve System gets an A+++ on all of these points and it has surely been a huge success in terms of the people who created it.

Actions have consequences and one of the consequences of this scam is what we call a “national debt.” Its rapidly approaching 5 trillion dollars that we know about, it’s much higher than that if you include the unfunded debt and all of the things that are off-budget and all of the funny stuff that they do with the accounting in Washington. With all honest accounting you’d find it was much, much higher than that.

But even at 5 trillion dollars it’s a staggering figure. I’m told if we had a stack of $100 bills about 40 inches high we’d be a millionaire. A stack of $100 bills equaling 5 trillion dollars would rise into space 3,350 miles. That’s a lot of money and it all came from us and it’s earning perpetual interest.

Another way of measuring that is that we’ve had a known inflation of 1,000% since the Federal Reserve System was created. Another way of phrasing that is that a dollar in 1913 today buys about nine cents worth of goods. That’s how much money has been taken from us, taxed from us, through this hidden process.

I say 1,000% inflation that is known because it’s much more than that. Have you ever wondered, as I used to, why don’t we have more inflation than we have had? I knew they were creating this money like crazy, why only this inflation? And then I found out. Have you ever heard the expression that we’re “exporting our inflation.” Every once in a while you find that phrase in the financial section of the newspaper. It used to drive me crazy–how can you export inflation? It’s one of those phrases that people use and I’m not sure most of the people who use the phrases know what they mean. Like the other day I read that the Federal Reserve System bought dollars today to bolster up the dollar. How can you buy dollars? What do you buy it with? They buy it with other currencies, the Federal Reserve holds a lot of different currencies, yens and deutsch marks and that kind of thing so they just swap currencies around.

This expression of exporting inflation–what does that mean? It means 70% of the American currency that has been created by our Federal Reserve System is no longer in America, it’s overseas. Other nations use American dollars as their unofficial money supply. Especially those countries which have no realistic money of their own. These countries that undergo inflation rates of 5,000 and 10,000% a year, you can’t work with money like that. Women have to take wheelbarrows full of paper money to the grocery store to buy a bottle of milk. You can’t carry on any serious economic transaction with money like that and they don’t, they use American dollars.

All the banks in those systems have dual types of money. American dollars are the mainstay of economic transactions in most of those countries. That’s where a lot of our money went. We have been spared the inflationary impact of all that money because had it stayed here, it would’ve bid against the existing money here and would have diluted our pot even more and we would’ve known what the inflation should’ve been.

What happens when the day comes when for whatever reason these countries can no longer, or no longer wish to, use American dollars? What are they going to do with those dollars? They’ll send them back. They’ll buy something with them while they can. It’ll be a big rush. It’ll be our refrigerators, our automobiles, our real estate, our high-rise buildings, our corporate stock, our politicians, whatever’s for sale. All of this money will come in and then we’ll find out in a very short period of time what the true inflation rate really should have been all of these years.

Incidentally, if you’ve followed in the newspapers the talk about the new money that they’re going to release, they’re talking about two-tiered money, one for overseas and one for here. It will probably be a different color. Frankly I think they’re recognizing this fact that the money would return and they’re going to make it illegal for all of this overseas money to come back by making it a different color so that they won’t be able to bring it here or if you do bring it here you won’t be able to spend it here, it won’t be legal here. Those are some of the consequences of the actions of the Federal Reserve Scam.

I have one last topic that I want to talk to you about and then I’ll get to the conclusion. This is an extremely important topic and it has to do with usury. In ancient times usury was defined as interest on a loan, any interest on any loan. In modern times that has been redefined to mean excessive interest on a loan. Moderate interest seems logical to us in recognition of the fact that if we work hard for our money, we save it and surrender its use for a period of time being a sacrifice on our part and then loan it to somebody else for their venture, we’re entitled to a reasonable return on that sacrifice. A reasonable interest rate is a concept that very few people have problems with, it seems logical and fair.

But what is this thing called excessive interest? Thomas Edison said, “People who will not turn a shovel-full of dirt on the project nor contribute a pound of materials will collect more money than will the people who will supply all the materials and do all the work.” I wondered when I read that if Tom was exaggerating so I got my calculator out. I assumed that there was going to be a $100,000 house built. I assumed that $30,000 would have to go for land, architect’s fees and permits and that kind of thing. $70,000 would go for the actual construction of the house, building materials and labor. I assumed that the buyer would go to the bank and put 20% down and then borrow the balance at 10% over 30 years. I punched in the numbers and discovered that the borrower will pay to the bank in interest $172,741 compared to $70,000 paid for the construction of the house. In other words, about 2 1/2 times as much money will be paid to the bank in interest than will be paid to those who provide all the labor and all the materials. And you may say to yourself, yes but that’s fair, after all a 30 year loan is a long loan and people work for their money and sacrifice its use and loan it and so forth and deserve to be compensated. No. Not this money. Nobody worked for this money, nobody saved this money. There was no sacrifice of any kind for this money. This money was created out of nothing and I suggest that $172,741 interest on nothing is excessive!

I think it’s time for a new definition of usury as follows: any interest on any loan of fiat money (meaning money made out of nothing). This example of a $100,000 home, as shocking as it is, producing $172,741 unearned interest, this is just a grain of sand in the Sahara. You have to multiply that by all the homes in America, by all of these hotels in America, all the high-rise buildings, all the factories, all the airplanes, automobiles, farm equipment, schools, everything, all the physical assets of America. You apply this same ratio and can you see it in your mind? We’re talking about a river of unearned wealth that is so wide you can’t even think of crossing it, flowing perpetually into the banking cartel. A dead short across the productive element of society. Money being taken from people who are working hard providing the material and the labor. They don’t even know that this is being taken from them and it’s in this huge river of wealth flowing into the banking cartel. It’s a staggering thought.

You are led to the question of where is this river flowing? Where’s it going? Get a picture of this that it’s all going into a lake somewhere and maybe there’s a dam and the wealth is building up and somewhere they’re getting it all. Getting it no, they’re spending it. They’re not accumulating it at all. What are they spending it for? The answer may surprise you. They’re not buying more yachts and mansions with this money, they’ve already got all of those they possibly want. In fact they got rid of the mansions on Jekyll Island a long time ago because they were bored with that. That’s not it. When a person has all the wealth that you could possibly want for the material pleasures of life, what is left? Power. They are using this river of wealth to acquire power over you and me and our children.

They are spending it to acquire control over the power centers of society. The power centers are those groups and institutions through which individuals live and act and rely on for their information. They are literally buying up the world but not the real estate and the hardware, they’re buying control over the organizations, the groups and institutions that control people. In other words, to be specific, they are buying control over politicians, political parties, television networks, cable networks, newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, wire services, motion picture studios, universities, labor unions, church organizations, trade associations, tax-exempt foundations, multi-national corporations, boy scouts, girl scouts, you name it. Make your own list of organizations and you will find that this is where those people have been for many decades spending this river of wealth to acquire operational control particularly over those institutions and individuals, those organizations that represent opposition to themselves. That’s a critical area for expenditure on their part.

This process has gone on not only to a marked degree in America and in the other industrialized nations of the world, but it has gone on in the so-called third world or underdeveloped nations to such a degree that I would say the process is now complete. They own these countries already. Have you ever wondered what’s going on there at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank? Kind of an obscure operation isn’t it? you don’t read much about it except once in a while on the back page of the newspaper you find out that Congress at the insistence of the President authorized another $100 billion for the International Monetary Fund. And then the article tells you that this money will be used to make loans to underdeveloped nations or grants to them to raise their standard of living. Do you believe that? That’s one of those appearances of the fourth kind if you ever saw one. If the money is to be used to raise the standard of living of these countries they’re not doing a very good job of it because after all of these decades, after all of these hundreds of billions of dollars, you cannot point to one country that has had its standard of living raised one iota by that. In fact in most cases it’s the other way around and that’s not an accident because the money has not been used to raise the standard of living. The money does not go to the people in those countries. It goes to the politicians of those countries, to their governments and the money is designed and spent to strengthen their power structures, their ability to control their populations. They usually start off as inefficient dictatorships but by the time they get all this money from the IMF, they are now efficient dictatorships. They have a well-equipped army, a better bureaucracy, total control of their subjects. That’s where the money’s being spent.

These countries have been purchased because the politicians in those countries are now totally addicted to this money. We talk about welfare families in America that are third and fourth generation welfare, they’re on the dole forever, they cannot dream of anything else. The politicians in these countries are the same way and it’s now second, third and in some cases fourth generation international welfare from the United Nations funding. They have no ideology–communism, socialism, capitalism, fascism, what difference does it make? where’s the money? As long as they live well, they have their mansions, their yachts, their limousines, they go to New York to the UN and have their suites at the Waldorf-Asoria and that’s all they care about.

These countries have been purchased through this means and are now owned by this group at the UN and they’re firmly in place in the new world order where they’re just waiting for you and me to show up. That’s the other side of this coin. Not only does this transfer of wealth from America to these countries not raise their standard of living but it does lower ours. That too, believe it or not, is part of the plan. Just waste, get rid of money, get rid of productive power to reduce our standard of living. A strong nation is not a candidate to surrender its sovereignty but a weak nation is. If America can be brought to her knees where she is struggling for survival, if people are hungry, if we have riots in our streets, then Americans could possibly be grateful for any assistance we could get from the UN. Those wonderful blue-helmeted peace-keeping forces could bring order back to our streets or international money, a new world money with purchasing power again might be welcomed by the unthinking, unknowing American public. That is what we’re dealing with.

What I’m trying to say is that the name of the game out there is not wealth, it is power.

In this book, Mr. Hathaway emphasizes the source energy of the loving universe as a means to connect to our divine purpose as incarnated souls. He brilliantly describes the Soul’s Code as the unique divine purpose each of us brings to our existence and that which we seek to manifest our spiritual growth. The time we spend here on Project Earth in the restraints of space/time and ego are designed as a learning tool, and we are joined together with earthly and other worldly beings, representing our Project Team. To simplify our soul code, we need only trust and believe in a universal energy that tunes us into our own divine pattern. This energy is the embodiment of unconditional love of both our self and others.

The Soul is perhaps one of the most misunderstood and highly controversial topics for mankind to ponder. Soul expands across all aspects of human activity, from science to religion to spirituality to death and salvation, the complexity of the soul is a subject we examine with wonder and awe, yet without sure conviction.

Psychology is defined as “the study of the soul” yet doctors have trouble defining the Soul. Webster’s defines soul as “the immortal essence, animating principle, or an activating cause of an individual life”. But medical science is divided between the soul/mind and the brain/consciousness as the essence of the human psyche. In 1901 Dr. Duncan MacDougall determined that the soul weighed 21 grams by weighing dying patient’s right before and right after death.

If it’s true that the soul lives after death of the physical body and is immortal, than we also have to examine reincarnation, which incidentally was
banned by the Council of Nice in 553 AD. In the most compelling scientific evidence to date validating reincarnation, Dr. Ian Stevenson documented over 3,000 cases of children who remembered their past lives. In his study the children’s stories were validated, yet even this irrefutable proof is viewed with conjecture by modern neuroscientists.

Except one, Dr. Eben Alexander, a Harvard educated neurosurgeon, who after his own near death experience now supports that the soul is separate from the human body and is a true entity, as outlined in his book Proof Of Heaven. His organization Eternea is the frontier science that will identify that we exist after physical death eternally. The Soul is our essence, and, as Edgar Cayce says, we are spiritual beings having a human experience not human beings having a spiritual experience. The soul’s evolution is always towards God and away from material gains. The Soul has sensations and thoughts, desires and beliefs, and performs intentional actions.

As our bodies wear out, the soul seeks periods of rest and reflection. Supporters of alien origin and existence propose that the soul differentiates the human race from other species and is highly regarded by other civilizations. Yet even while the other species look upon our gift of the soul with envy and admiration, our science and religions relentlessly diminish the knowledge of how to use the soul as our opportunity to grow and to align with the creator. The Wingmakers describe human beings as a race of “soul carriers” and propose that this century will be the discovery of the scientific proof of the existence of the Soul or the Grand Portal. Further, that the soul is a fragment of original source or light that we are all a part of and that our human experience is a small part of our existence and, in reality, is a search for unity.

Michael Hathaway’s books help to address the complexity of past lives and soul integration, as well as tuning in to our psychic abilities as we transform into a new, advanced being. This new race is described by Edgar Cayce as the fifth root face, a highly evolved people who are born with a greater knowing of the workings of the universe. As we focus on our spiritual growth, aspects of our direct link to the greater universe deepens and our third eye senses things that awaken us to our true nature of our earth assignment.

Declassified: America’s Secret Flying Saucer

In the 1950s, a small team of engineers set to work on a secret program called Project 1794—a supersonic craft designed to shoot down Soviet bombers. Now a trove of declassified documents reveals the audacious mission to build a flying saucer.

In September 2012, Michael Rhodes, a technician at the National Declassification Center (NDC) in College Park, Md., donned white cotton gloves, entered a climate-controlled room, and opened a cardboard file box. It was time for the report inside—”Project 1794 Final Development Summary Report 2 April—30 May 1956″—to become public.Rhodes’s job is to read such documents, catalog them, and make them available to historians, journalists, and the curious. The paper was crisp, like new. Rhodes began to read.

He soon realized that the file box contained highly unusual material. “As I was processing the collection, I glimpsed this weird red flying-disc icon in the corners,” Rhodes says. Inside the box was a trove of oddities: cutaway schematics of disc-shaped aircraft, graphs showing drag and thrust performance at more than Mach 3, black-and-white photos of Frisbee shapes in supersonic wind tunnels. The icon was a flying saucer on a red arrow—the insignia of a little-known and strange sideshow in aeronautical design. Rhodes was leafing through the lost records of a U.S. military flying saucer program.

A Canadian aviation firm began developing a disc-shaped aircraft for the U.S. military in the mid-1950s, and, though the details were secret, the project itself was not unknown. POPULAR MECHANICS mentioned the Air Force’s “vertical-rising, high-speed” craft in 1956 and published a photo in 1960. In the decades since the program was canceled in 1961, aviation buffs and UFO researchers have unearthed technical papers written near the end of America’s flying saucer experiment, but the document that originally convinced the government to invest in a military flying disc has languished in the NDC under the SECRET designation. This recently discovered report describes in previously unknown detail how aviation engineers tried to harness what were then cutting-edge aerodynamic concepts to make their improbable creation fly. Although Avro’s saucer never completed a successful flight, some of the most sophisticated aircraft flying today adopted many of the same technologies.

In 2001, U.S. Air Force personnel cleared the document cache for public release, according to Neil Carmichael, director of the declassification review division at the NDC, which is run by the National Archives and Records Administration. But it took 11 years to crack open the boxes in College Park and glimpse the saucer secrets within—the staff is buried in a backlog of nearly 2 billion pages of declassified material, some of it dating to World War II. “These records probably have been classified since their creation,” Carmichael says. “It’s like somebody emptied out a filing cabinet, stuck it in a box, sealed it, and sent it off to the federal records center.”

In pop culture, flying saucers are the ride of choice for extraterrestrials. What the newly released documents show is that they actually came from Ontario, Canada. That’s where a visionary aeronautical engineer at the now-defunct Avro Canada convinced his bosses to support the unlikely project. “During the Cold War the Army, Air Force, and Navy were experimenting with all sorts of things,” Carmichael says. As the NDC releases its declassified documents, “the records are going to tell the rest of those stories.” The most sensational of the disclosures so far—Project 1794.

Saucer Full of Secrets: Pics From Declassified Military Docs

Frost’s Flying DiscusAvro Canada hired John “Jack” Frost in 1947, tapping the 32-year-old for a program to develop a supersonic aircraft called the Avro Arrow. While working on the Arrow program, Frost conducted experiments in the Avro labs on the way airflow tends to stick to gently curved surfaces, a phenomenon called the Coanda effect. The results showed that engine exhaust could be routed across the fuselage to the area just beneath a saucer, where it would form a cushion of air on which the craft could hover. Palmiro Campagna, an author and engineer with the Canadian Department of National Defence, wrote a book about Avro, Requiem for a Giant. “Frost believed that the Germans had developed some form of flying saucer—like aircraft,” he says. “Part of that belief stemmed from stories and newspaper articles that appeared back in the 1950s.”

The stories turned out to be bogus, but to Frost they seemed reasonable. During World War II, Hitler’s engineers had outpaced the Allies in developing ballistic rockets and jet airplanes, and those advances had become spoils of war exploited by both the Soviet Union and the United States. Frost worried that equally important flying-disc technology could have been secreted away by Moscow. “He didn’t want North Americans to lag behind,” Campagna says.

After Frost talked up the results of his lab research to Omond Solandt, the head of the Canadian Defence Research Board, the government official introduced him to decision-makers in the Pentagon. Then, as now, the big money in military contracting was in the United States.

The American military was seeking a supersonic aircraft that could take off from primitive airfields to intercept Soviet long-range bombers. By 1955, the United States was ready to fund a million-dollar feasibility study. Aviation historians say they aren’t surprised that the concept, which seems outlandish today, had proponents at the time. “The flying saucer configuration offers benefits,” says Russell E. Lee, a curator at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. “It’s totally symmetrical, so in theory it should be omnidirectional—if you can figure out how to redirect thrust in an instantaneous and efficient manner. Putting myself in the shoes of the designers in the early ’50s, I would think it would be a viable candidate for further investigation.”

Frost’s design was detailed in a 117-page report—the same document that ultimately was unearthed by the NDC. The proposed craft featured a central turbine, called a turborotor, powered by six turbojet engines. The turborotor sucked in air that was directed through the body of the aircraft. The exhaust exited from vents placed along the circumference of the aluminum saucer; vanes and shutters directed the exhaust toward the ground to hover.

The engineers predicted that the 20,000 pounds of thrust produced by the jets’ exhaust could be directed downward all around the disc’s perimeter. “This jet-around-wing configuration produces a powerful take-off ground cushion so that the lift on the aircraft is increased to possibly 30,000 lb.,” the report says, “and the aircraft rises to about 20 feet.” Once in the air, the saucer’s pilot would reroute the exhaust to one side of the craft to move laterally. The documents reveal the extravagantly rose-colored aspirations of the researchers. Frost predicted the saucer would travel at Mach 4 with “a ceiling of over 100,000 feet and a maximum range … of about 1000 nautical miles.”

The Air Force and Army agreed to fund prototypes, and Avro had Frost set up a secret facility for construction and testing. The special projects group (SPG) was located at the Avro plant in Malton, Ontario, northwest of Toronto. Avro Canada, which employed 14,000 people at its height, spread its operations over several large buildings, empty lots, and aircraft hangars. (Today the location is adjacent to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.) Frank Harvey, current president of the Aerospace Heritage Foundation of Canada, worked on an Avro aircraft assembly line from 1956 to 1959. He was not part of SPG and recalls wondering what was going on within its walls. “Very few people got in there,” he says. “If you walked anywhere near, there were security guards.”

The precautions were well-founded. Soviet-era notes from a KGB major named Vasili Mitrokhin confirm that a spy did in fact operate at the Avro facility, seeking information on the Arrow program. Campagna says the Royal Canadian Mounted Police discovered the spy’s identity but never disclosed the name.

Giant Food Corporations Work Hand-In-Glove With Corrupt Government Agencies To Dish Up Cheap, Unhealthy Food

Big Food Is Making Us SickThe Independent reports that small farmers are being challenged by food companies are becoming insanely concentrated:Increasingly, a handful of multinationals are tightening their grip on the commodity markets, with potentially dramatic effects for consumers and food producers alike.***Three companies now account for more than 40 per cent of global coffee sales, eight companies control the supply of cocoa and chocolate, seven control 85 per cent of tea production, five account for 75 per cent of the world banana trade, and the largest six sugar traders account for about two-thirds of world trade, according to the new publication from the Fairtrade Foundation.

*** This is the year “to put the politics of food on the public agenda and find better solutions to the insanity of our broken food system”.

More people may be shopping ethically – sales of Fairtrade cocoa grew by more than 20 per cent last year to £153m – but, according to the report, the world’s food system is “dangerously out of control”.

How is that effecting the safety of our food supply? Reuters notes:

Multinational food, drink and alcohol companies are using strategies similar to those employed by the tobacco industry to undermine public health policies, health experts said on Tuesday.

In an international analysis of involvement by so-called “unhealthy commodity” companies in health policy-making, researchers from Australia, Britain, Brazil and elsewhere said … that through the aggressive marketing of ultra-processed food and drink, multinational companies were now major drivers of the world’s growing epidemic of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Writing in The Lancet medical journal, the researchers cited industry documents they said revealed how companies seek to shape health legislation and avoid regulation.

This is done by “building financial and institutional relations” with health professionals, non-governmental organizations and health agencies, distorting research findings, and lobbying politicians to oppose health reforms, they said.

They cited analysis of published research which found systematic bias from industry funding: articles sponsored exclusively by food and drinks companies were between four and eight times more likely to have conclusions that favored the companies than those not sponsored by them.

How are giant food manufacturers trying to influence legislation?

As Waking Times reports, they’re trying to gag all reporting:

States are adopting laws meant to keep consumers in the dark about where their food comes from.

Do you have a right to know where that steak on your plate came from?

Should it be legal to photograph chicken farms and dairy cows?

Big Agriculture says you don’t and it shouldn’t. Armies of Big Ag lobbyists are pushing for new state-level laws across the country to keep us all in the dark. Less restrictive versions have been law in some states since the 1980s, but the meat industry has ratcheted up a radical new campaign.

This wave of “ag-gag” bills would criminalize whistleblowers, investigators, and journalists who expose animal welfare abuses at factory farms and slaughterhouses. Ten states considered “ag-gag” bills last year, and Iowa, Missouri, and Utah approved them. Even more are soon to follow.

Had these laws been in force, the Humane Society might have been prosecuted for documenting repeated animal welfare and food safety violations at Hallmark/Westland, formerly the second-largest supplier of beef to the National School Lunch Program. Cows too sick to walk were being slaughtered and that meat was shipped to our schools, endangering our kids. The investigation led to the largest meat recall in U.S. history.

Big Ag wants to silence whistleblowers rather than clean up its act. Ag-gag bills are now pending in Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Indiana, Nebraska, and New Hampshire. Similar legislation may crop up in North Carolina and Minnesota.

The bills aren’t identical, but they share common language — sometimes even word-for-word. Some criminalize anyone who even “records an image or sound” from a factory farm. Others mandate that witnesses report abuses within a few hours, which would make it impossible for whistleblowers to secure advice and protection, or for them to document a pattern of abuses.

Indiana’s version of this cookie-cutter legislation ominously begins with the statement that farmers have the right to “engage in agricultural operations free from the threat of terrorism and interference from unauthorized third persons.” [The Feds are treating people who expose abuse in factory farms as potential terrorists … and the states want the same power.]

Yet these bills aren’t about violence or terrorism. They’re about truth-telling that’s bad for branding. For these corporations, a “terrorist” is anyone who threatens their profits by exposing inhumane practices that jeopardize consumer health.

Ag-gag bills aren’t about silencing journalists and whistleblowers. They’re about curbing consumer access to information at a time when more and more Americans want to know where our food comes from and how it’s produced.

The problem for corporations is that when people have information, they act on it. During a recent ag-gag hearing in Indiana, one of the nation’s largest egg producers told lawmakers about a recent investigation. After an undercover video was posted online, 50 customers quickly called and stopped buying their eggs. An informed public is the biggest threat to business as usual.

An informed public is also the biggest threat to these ag-gag bills. In Wyoming, one of the bills has already failed. According to sponsors, it was abandoned in part because of negative publicity. By shining a light on these attempts, we can make sure that the rest fail as well, while protecting the right of consumers to know what they’re buying.

So what – exactly – are the giant food corporations trying to hide?

They are fraudulently substituting cheaper – less healthy – food for high-quality. food. And see this.

Indeed, the dairy industry wants to add sweeteners – such as aspartame – to milk without any labeling.

Food fraud is rampant .. including huge proportions of fish.

The bottom line is that collusion between government and big business is dishing up cheap, unhealthy food … just like collusion between D.C. and giant corporations caused the financial crisis, the Fukushima nuclear meltdown, the Gulf oil spill and other major disasters (and see this; and take a peek at number 9).

For example, the FDA:

  • Declared fish from Fukushima a-okay after radiation spewed into the ocean

The Department of Agriculture:

An official U.S. government report finds that Americans ‘are sicker and die younger’ than people in other wealthy nations. There are a number of factors for this sickness … but unhealthy, cheap food is part of it.

Explosive report: 98% of newborn babies are genetically screened

“Newborn Screening in America,” a report from the Council for Responsible Genetics, states: “Before they are even a week old, ninety-eight percent of the 4.3 million babies born annually in the United States have a small sample of blood taken from their heels.

”The report continues: “These newborn bloodspots (NBS) are then screened for a variety of inherited conditions and may later be stored in state-operated databases…parents are often unaware of these screening programs and their consent options.

”This shocking national program, flying under the radar, is of course explained as a humane medical undertaking. But there is no across-the-board genetic treatment for any disease or illness. All the “maybe-possibly-in-the-future-cure” nonsense does nothing to justify this rank incursion on newborns and their unsuspecting families.

The report goes on: “With respect to [bloodspot] sample storage and use, there is also little transparency regarding storage procedures or the use of the samples after they have been screened…many states do not have clearly articulated policies about consent for the storage and use of samples or may not effectively communicate these policies to parents.

”Then there is the question of who now has, or will have in the future, access to all these millions of blood samples and the results of the genetic screening.

Reliable and trustworthy assurances of citizen-privacy from the government have gone the way of the dinosaur and other extinct species.

Let’s see…DNA samples of nearly every newborn baby in America: surveillance and tracking, anyone? We have here the makings of a universal DNA database for “crime prevention.”

Controversial legislation introduced to obtain a DNA sample from every adult? It’s already being done covertly in hospitals, at birth.

What about technocrats obsessed with re-engineering humans? What about other researchers who want to run comparative DNA studies in thousands of different ways, for any purpose under the sun—who for example are intensely interested in making (or inventing) genetic distinctions between various socioeconomic sectors of society? This newborn database is irresistible.

You can be sure social, medical, and genetic engineers are looking at all this raw data like wild animals look at prey on the plains.

The idea of correlating genetic factors with “failure in life” is the Holy Grail for eugenicists. They will find a way to gain access to the data, because they want to build “a better world” and eliminate the “inferior” people.

Right now, we have rapid abortionists who earnestly believe and advocate the destruction of life after birth as a viable option. They even call it abortion. So a doctor could tell a parent, “The genetic profile of your baby is very problematic. You should consider terminating life…”

Again, all this illegal and immoral collection of genetic data from babies is justified as a “humane medical endeavor.” So ask your doctor, “Where is the ironclad proof that you have any genetic treatment for any disease that works across the board?” Don’t accept blue-sky predictions and promises.

Get real.

Because the State is getting real. They want control. And taking blood samples from babies is a giant step on the road to a genetic dictatorship.

Nuclear Physicist, M.T. Keshe: We Already Have “Free Energy” and Antigravity Technology

In the first video, Dr. M.T. Keshe, an Iranian nuclear physicist and the founder of KesheFoundation.org, talks about the flaws of conventional science and why we need to steer away from the paradigm of conventional science. The problem with conventional science is that it has become like a religion. Anyone who question its paradigm are threatened and ridiculed by the people who control conventional science. For this reason, conventional science is not really science anymore.

One of my favorite parts of the video is when Dr. M.T. Keshe talks about the relationship between gravity and magnetic fields and how they hold the key to creating a flying vehicle that can travel at superluminal speeds, even faster than the speed of light. According to conventional science, traveling faster than the speed of light is impossible. Although, new discoveries in particle physics are forcing physicists to question the theory that claims nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.

According to my current understanding of physics, Dr. M.T. Keshe is right in many ways when he talks about the structure of the Universe and how “free energy” and antigravity work. His explanation of the Creator also correlates well with my explanation.

If Dr. M.T. Keshe’s technologies become available to the world and are used in harmony with nature, they could revolutionize the energy, health care, and technology system. Space travel could be very affordable in the very near future. More importantly, “free energy” technology will dramatically improve our standard of living, making poverty a thing in the past. This is because energy is the core determination of prices of goods and services. If only his “free energy” devices were based on the laws of Life Science, the energy produce by them would last forever.

In my earlier article titled “Are You Ready for the New Paradigm?,” I said that “free energy” and antigravity were available in the early 1900s, but the Controllers suppressed them by buying them off the market. The inventors who refused to sell their alternative energies were threatened or destroyed financially. Some were even thrown in prison by false accusations or assassinated. Since Iran is heavily experimenting with “free energy” and antigravity, could this be one of the main reasons why our Western government is spending so much time and money to convince us to support a war with Iran? My intuition is telling me that this is one of the main reasons why the malicious faction of our government wants to attack Iran.

As described at YouTube.com.

21st Century Wire reporter Patrick Henningsen investigates the groundbreaking free energy science and advanced space ship technology brought forward by Iranian nuclear physicist, M.T. Keshe, head of the Keshe Foundation in Belgium. Keshe’s recent lecture on Jan. 30, 2013 at Imperial College in London, revealed some incredible information about Iran’s space ship program, and also about a Peace Treaty which is currently in the hands of the world’s super powers, as we wait to see if the the world’s ‘super-powers’ will continue to cover-up these new breakthroughs that allowed Iran to apprehend two US drones, applications in faster than light travel, nuclear gravity-magnetic field plasma science and advanced medical treatment for the terminally ill. The implications of what Keshe has revealed is potentially world changing.

21WIRE: Keshe’s Free Energy Technology Will Make Today’s Military ‘Useless’

The second video goes more in depth about the Keshe Foundation and the benefits of its technologies. According to Dr. M.T. Keshe, the technologies developed by Keshe Foundation could one day make propulsion obsolete, cure “incurable diseases” (e.g. cancer), give us very cheap energy, and help create new materials that have not been discovered by modern scientists. If you are interested in these subjects, this video is a must watch!

EPA Scientists, Medical Experts Fired for Opposing Water Fluoridation

Politics, not science, is what continues to drive the water fluoridation agenda today, and it was always the impetus behind the original passage of corrupt water fluoridation guidelines established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) more than 50 years ago. But many EPA scientists, it turns out, as well as other medical and scientific experts, have bravely come out in opposition to water fluoridation over the years, a move that for many cost them their jobs and careers.

Many of those directly responsible for compiling and evaluating safety data on the health effects of fluoride, in fact, observed very early on that the chemical waste product is not at all beneficial for human health. Not only has fluoride never been shown with any sort of scientific rigor to prevent tooth decay in any tangible way, but it has actually been shown to damage teeth, as well as harm vital organs, cognitive ability, glandular function, and bone structure, among other things.

Back in 1985 when the EPA proposed doubling the maximum allowable level of fluoride to be added to water, a large number of EPA’s own scientists, legal experts, and advisory personnel, not to mention a panel of scientists tasked with evaluating fluoride for the Surgeon General’s office, came out in vehement opposition to the proposal. Fluoride, revealed the science, was not safe at the proposed levels, and should be further evaluated — many actually called for an immediate moratorium on fluoride.

But their concerns were ultimately ignored, and the EPA decided to move forward with fluoride against the recommendations of its own scientists, who correctly pointed out that even preexisting levels of fluoride in water put people at risk of both dental and skeletal fluorosis. One outspoken opponent of fluoride, Dr. William Marcus, who was then chief toxicologist for the EPA’s Office of Drinking Water, was actually fired for refusing to back down and basically shut up about the dangers of fluoride. (http://www.fluoridealert.org/content/marcus-interview/)

Similarly, Dr. Phyllis Mullenix, who was responsible for establishing the Department of Toxicology at the Forsyth Dental Research Institute (FDRI) in Massachusetts, was fired for speaking out about the results of a study she helped coordinate at Harvard University. When asked about the findings at a conference of the National Institute of Dental Research (NIDR), Dr. Mullenix openly admitted that many neurotoxic effects associated with fluoride had been discovered. She was soon fired from FDRI, and has since received no further grants for her research.

“I got into science because it was fun, and I would like to go back and do further studies, but I no longer have any faith in the integrity of the system,” she is quoted as saying at the time. “I find research is utterly controlled.”

EPA ignores established research proving dangers of fluoride, wages war against Americans

As far as the EPA is concerned, the agency continues to ignore and deny research compiled by its own scientists that proves fluoride is a damaging neurotoxin. Using the agency’s own risk control methodology, known as the “Reference Dose,” EPA scientists discovered several decades ago that the maximum acceptable dose for fluoride is 0.000007 mg/kg of body weight a day. But the average person living in a fluoridated area today ingests about 0.01 mg/kg of body weight of fluoride a day, which is 1,428 times the maximum dose.

“The implication for the general public of these calculations is clear. Recent, peer-reviewed toxicity data, when applied to EPA’s standard method for controlling risks from toxic chemicals, require an immediate halt to the use of the nation’s drinking water reservoirs as disposal sites for the toxic waste of the phosphate fertilizer industry,” concluded EPA scientists.

“For governmental and other organizations to continue to push for more exposure in the face of current levels of over-exposure coupled with an increasing crescendo of adverse toxicity findings is irrational and irresponsible at best.”

4D printed objects ‘make themselves’

Many are only just getting their heads around the idea of 3D printing but scientists at MIT are already working on an upgrade: 4D printing.

At the TED conference in Los Angeles, architect and computer scientist Skylar Tibbits showed how the process allows objects to self-assemble.

It could be used to install objects in hard-to-reach places such as underground water pipes, he suggested.

It might also herald an age of self-assembling furniture, said experts.

Smart materials

TED fellow Mr Tibbits, from the MIT’s (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) self-assembly lab, explained what the extra dimension involved.

“We’re proposing that the fourth dimension is time and that over time static objects will transform and adapt,” he told the BBC.

The process uses a specialised 3D printer made by Stratasys that can create multi-layered materials.

It combines a strand of standard plastic with a layer made from a “smart” material that can absorb water.

The water acts as an energy source for the material to expand once it is printed.

“The rigid material becomes a structure and the other layer is the force that can start bending and twisting it,” said Mr Tibbits.

“Essentially the printing is nothing new, it is about what happens after,” he added.

Such a process could in future be used to build furniture, bikes, cars and even buildings, he thinks.

For the time being he is seeking a manufacturing partner to explore the innovation.

“We are looking for applications and products that wouldn’t be possible without these materials,” he added.

“Imagine water pipes that can expand to cope with different capacities or flows and save digging up the street.”

Nature’s inspiration

Engineering software developer Autodesk, which collaborated on the project, is looking even further into the future.

“Imagine a scenario where you go to Ikea and buy a chair, put it in your room and it self-assembles,” said Carlo Olguin, principal research scientist at the software firm.

The 4D printing concept draws inspiration from nature which already has the ability to self-replicate.

“We already have 3D printers that can be injected with stem cells, printing micro slices of liver,” Mr Olguin added.

“The idea behind 4D printing is to use the sheer power of biology and modify it. But it is still an elusive goal.”

The next stage for the research is to move from printing single strands to sheets and eventually whole structures. And water need not be the process’s only energy source.

“We could also have heat, vibration and sound,” said Mr Tibbits.

Liars or ‘Genius?’ … Gaga, Zuckerberg and Obama Groomed From Childhood for Their Roles

The Education of Mark Zuckerberg … It’s May 7, a week before Mr. Zuckerberg’s 28th birthday. And, as Wall Street, Silicon Valley and the wider world all know, something big is coming. It is the deal that will either prove once and for all that Facebook is changing just about everything, everywhere, or that the mania over social media and this company, its apotheosis, is spiraling out of control … If all goes well, Facebook will go public on Friday in an I.P.O. that could value it at nearly $100 billion. And so now, as C.E.O., Mark Zuckerberg has never been more secure — or, given the coming I.P.O., more exposed … On some evenings, as dusk falls in Menlo Park, Mr. Zuckerberg and a small circle of his lieutenants play roller hockey, and maybe knock back a beer or two, outside Facebook’s headquarters … Out in the courtyard, the crew — almost all of them men, almost all in their 20s — hoot and skate until it is almost too dark to see much of anything. Across the courtyard floor, giant black tiles spell out the word “hack.” … The Facebook boys and their captain, Mark Zuckerberg, skate hard. They line up shots with care. And they play to win. – NY Times (5/13/2012)

Lady Gaga went to geek camp, too … Gaga, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Google’s Sergey Brin are all alumni of the Center for Talented Youth (CTY) at Johns Hopkins University. CTY and the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) are two of the most well-known highly selective programs that have given rise to high-achieving adults … But first, kids have to prove themselves by taking the SAT in about seventh grade, and they need to score as well as or better than 50 percent of the college-bound juniors and seniors taking the SAT or ACT (you can retest later). Summer Institute for the Gifted, another program, also accepts letters of recommendation and participation in a gifted program as credentials. These camps have programs at various colleges in the U.S., and some in other countries, too … All of these programs do offer financial assistance to some students, however. Students and alumni tend to agree that it’s all worth it. – CNN Living (9/6/2010)

Another day, another breathless announcement about the Facebook IPO – this one in the form of an extended article in the New York Times that demands no less than three writers and thousands of words.

And likely it’s all a lie of sorts. Zuckerberg is no genius-mogul and Facebook is more a US intelligence asset than a functioning business. But the show must go on, even though it is increasingly a threadbare pretense. The Internet allows us to see clearly how these gambits (scams) are probably perpetuated.

The idea of the global elites, of course, is always to convince the masses that those who work at the top of gigantic corporations and banks are superhuman and deserve their largesse and fame. A quick look at reality provides another perspective entirely.

For the most part, world leaders are staggeringly incompetent and ill-informed … though it is true that many possess native intelligence of sorts. This is not surprising, as they have been selected for this trait. It is in fact seemingly a growing trend as global governance expands.

It is a simple formula. The power elite that wants to run the world has increasingly integrated a seamless network of testing throughout the West to help identify top human youngsters – those who are symbolically facile, even verbally adept without the additional burden of deep thinking.

From the outside looking in, it may seem that the West is an egalitarian place – especially America – where anyone with the requisite combination of hard work, talent and intelligence can make a large success. But in the 21st century this is increasingly myth, not truth.

Increasingly, the global elites are implementing a command-and-control grid that seeks out talented youngsters at an earlier and earlier age.

US President George W. Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” program may be seen as just another one of his goonish, authoritarian visions. But when examined in a larger context, one can see that the US government has laid a grid across the country to identify up-and-coming youngsters at any level, even as young as elementary school.

Once identified, these youngsters are tracked and promoted. They may be the recipients of sudden scholarships or other forms of largesse. Certainly, their quiet rise from obscurity to, possibly, the world stage is supported by a variety of hidden contacts and networks.

These youngsters, eventually, have access to an entire gamut of global elite resources including the vast shadowy marketing machines of Tavistock and other elite promotional facilities.

All they need to do is come up with an idea, a technology (no matter how ephemeral) or in the case of Lady Gaga, a song, a chant … a rap – and the star-making machine goes to work. (OK, perhaps it is NOT preordained but it certainly is close to it.)

It’s a kind of organized crime approach to cultivating talent. After making their selections, elite handlers begin to make the pitch. The quid-pro-quo is surely obvious, and “Monarch Programs” are not necessary. Most – like Zuckerberg – acquiesce willingly and do whatever is required.

Of course, many young people mature late and mathematical capability is not the only kind of creativity. This is not an issue to the top elites. They apparently wish to select for numerical facilities (music, language and math skills) because the owners of such talents are likely to be linear rather than holistic thinkers.

The idea is to present geniuses with outward, dazzling skills but with little in the way of insight or determination to investigate the realities of their larger privilege.

In a sense these youngsters are like performing monkeys, fabulously skilled but incurious when it comes to the system that has launched them. Lady Gaga is said to have composed music at four. Zuckerberg supposedly speaks five languages including Latin. These are the so-called “beautiful minds.”

The privileges are evident and obvious. Zuckerberg, landing in Harvard with the eyes of the elite upon him, was soon smothered in money from various questionable sources including those with close ties to US Intel. Now his company is worth US$100 billion and climbing.

Lady Gaga’s rise was laid by a massive marketing campaign that is surely not available to most other youngsters with similar talents. She entertains billions with increasingly less agile and tuneful songs – or outright plagiarisms.

And when it comes to politics, top operators like US President Barack Obama seem almost entirely manufactured. Obama has hardly revealed anything substantive about his background, and what he has shared has been questionable, or even branded as a forgery. Nonetheless, he may win re-election, such is the power of those who stand in the shadows behind him.

The CNN Living article quoted above seems to give the game away. What are the odds that Lady Gaga, Sergey Brin and Mark Zuckerberg went to the same special school as youngsters? They are astronomical … except that the elites have set up a system to capture such individuals while they are young. The Duke affiliation is no accident, either.

It is no coincidence that the “best and brightest” constantly work for the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund or manifestations of the UN or NGOs. They populate the top levels of Western corporate privilege, politics and mainstream media.

One can visualize them as the fodder of global governance. They are the stylish male and female models of the New World Order – groomed to portray a face that is at once friendly and brilliant in order to convince lesser mortals that the coming globalism is inevitable. The “smartest people” are participating, after all.

An uber-class is being built up patiently, piece by piece. Youngsters in the West may dream of climbing ambitiously to the top, but little do they know the places are already taken.

CISPA: FAQ on What it is and Why it’s Still Dangerous

The privacy-invasive bill known as CISPA—the so-called “cybersecurity” bill—was reintroduced in February 2013. Just like last year, the bill has stirred a tremendous amount of grassroots activism because it carves a loophole in all known privacy laws and grants legal immunity for companies to share your private information. EFF has compiled an FAQ detailing how the bill’s major provisions work and how they endanger all Internet users’ privacy. Please join us in speaking out against CISPA by contacting Congress now.

What is “CISPA”?

CISPA stands for The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, a network and Internet security bill written by Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) and Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) (H.R. 624). The bill purports to allow companies and the federal government to share information to prevent or defend against network and other Internet attacks. However, the bill grants broad new powers, allowing companies to identify and obtain “threat information” by looking at your private information. It is written so broadly that it allows companies to hand over large swaths of personal information to the government with no judicial oversight—effectively creating a “cybersecurity” loophole in all existing privacy laws.

Under CISPA, what can a private company do?

Under CISPA, any company can “use cybersecurity systems to identify and obtain cyber threat information to protect the rights and property” of the company, and then share that information with third parties, including the government, so long as it is for “cybersecurity purposes.” Whenever these prerequisites are met, CISPA is written broadly enough to permit your communications service providers to share your emails and text messages with the government, or your cloud storage company could share your stored files.

Right now, well-established laws like the Cable Communications Policy Act, the Wiretap Act, the Video Privacy Protection Act, and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act provide judicial oversight and other privacy protections that prevent companies from unnecessarily sharing your private information, including the content of your emails.

And these laws expressly allow lawsuits against companies that go too far in divulging your private information. CISPA threatens these protections by declaring that key provisions in CISPA are effective “notwithstanding any other law,” a phrase that essentially means CISPA would override the relevant provisions in all other laws—including privacy laws. CISPA also creates a broad immunity for companies against both civil and criminal liability. CISPA provides more legal cover for companies to share large swaths of potentially personal and private information with the government.

Does CISPA do enough to prevent abuse of the law for copyright enforcement?

No. Early versions of CISPA included language that specifically mentioned intellectual property, but that was taken out after significant outcry from the Internet community that the language could be used as a copyright enforcement bill similar to SOPA. (Great job, Internet community!)

CISPA’s definition of “cyber threat information” includes information directly pertaining to a threat to “confidentiality.” But what does confidentiality mean? The definition encompasses measures designed for preserving “authorized restrictions on access,” including means for protecting “proprietary information.” “Proprietary information” is not defined, and could be read to include copyrighted information. For example, one type of restriction on access that is designed to protect proprietary information is digital rights management (DRM).

Legitimate security researchers have routinely bypassed restrictions on proprietary information in order to research and publish information pertaining to vulnerabilities. Vulnerability research should not be considered a cyber threat, and the movie and music industry should not be given immunity for “decisions based on” this information, good faith or not.

What triggers these new corporate powers?

CISPA allows a company to obtain and share “cyber threat information” if it has both a “cybersecurity purpose” and believes it is protecting its rights and property.

A “cybersecurity purpose” only means that a company has to think that a user is trying to harm its network. What does that mean, exactly? The definition is broad and vague. The definition allows purposes such as guarding against “improper” information modification, ensuring “timely” access to information or “preserving authorized restrictions on access…protecting…proprietary information” (i.e. DRM).

Under CISPA, what can I do if a company improperly hands over private information to the government?

Almost nothing. Even if the company violates your privacy beyond what CISPA would permit, the government does not have to notify the user whose information was improperly handed over—the government only notifies the company.

CISPA provides legal immunity to a company for many actions done to or with your private information, as long as the company acted in “good faith.” This is an extremely powerful immunity, because it is quite hard to show that a company did not act in good faith. These liability protections can cover actions the company uses to identify and obtain threat information and the subsequent sharing of that information with others—including the government. The immunity also covers “decisions made based on cyber threat information,” a dangerously vague provision that has never been defined.

Do companies need to share users’ personally identifying information (PII) to enhance information security?

No. At a recent hearing on CISPA, Governor John Engler, President of the Business Roundtable, and Paul Smocer, President of BITS, the technology policy division of the financial industry group called the Financial Services Roundtable, testified in support of the bill. Smocer admitted that “there is very little private data, PII, being exchanged today in the threat information world,” and that it would “not be an issue” to remove personally identifiable information before sharing. CISPA, however, authorizes sharing PII, and leaves redaction to the companies’ discretion.

The most useful threat information that should be shared includes previously unknown software and network vulnerabilities, malware signatures, and other technical characteristics that identify an attack or its methodology—all of which can be shared without PII. If companies need to share an email, such as a phishing email message, existing exceptions allow the recipient to divulge the information; there is no need for the blanket authority in CISPA. Mandiant’s recent report on Chinese hacking is just one of many instances where companies have shared a great deal of useful threat information without authority beyond what is granted to them by current law.

Can a company hack a perceived threat under CISPA (“hack back”)?

CISPA provides companies with immunity “for decisions made based on cyber threat information” as long as they are acting in good faith.  But CISPA doesn’t define “decisions made.” Aggressive companies could interpret this immunity to cover “defensive”—and what some would consider offensive—countermeasures like DDOSing suspected intruders, third parties, or even innocent users. Private defense contractors have already advocated for this power. These actions should not be allowed by such expansive wording. It leaves the bill ripe for abuse.

What is a “cybersecurity system”?

The bill’s definition of “cybersecurity system” is circular. It defines a “cybersecurity system” as “a system designed or employed” to protect against, among others, vulnerabilities or threats. The language is not limited to network security software or intrusion detection systems, and is so poorly written that any “system” involving a tangible item could be considered a “cybersecurity system.”

In practical terms, it’s unclear what is exactly covered by such a “system.” Does it include port-scanning or other basic defensive software tools or could it mean more aggressive offensive countermeasures? The drafters of this legislation leave it unclear whether the term “cybersecurity system” is trying to refer to a computer, a network of computers, security software, or something else entirely.

This definition is critical to understanding the bill. The information that a company can “identify or obtain” is limited by the term, which, in turn, limits what the company can share with the government. The definition is yet another reason why CISPA is dangerously vague.

What government agencies can look at my private information?

Under CISPA, companies can hand “cyber threat information” to any government agency with or without limitations on what agency can receive the information. Generally, the information will be given to a central hub in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). But once it’s in DHS’s hands, the bill says that DHS can then hand the information to other agencies, including the National Security Agency.

Can the government use my private information for other purposes besides “cybersecurity” once it has it?

Yes. Even though the information was passed along to the government for only “cybersecurity purposes”—the government can use your personal information for cybersecurity, investigating any cybersecurity crime or criminal exploitation of minor, protecting individuals from death or serious physical injury, or protecting the national security of the United States. Under the National Security Act, which CISPA amends, national security interests can include:

(i) threats to the United States, its people, property, or interests;

(ii) the development, proliferation, or use of weapons of mass destruction; or

(iii) any other matter bearing on United States national or homeland security.

This broad definition gives the government too much power to use private information without safeguards.

What can I do to stop the government from misusing my private information?

CISPA does allow users to sue the government if it intentionally or willfully uses or retains their information for purposes other than what is permitted by the law. But any such lawsuit will be difficult to bring because it’s not at all clear how an individual would know of such misuse. An individual could not even use transparency laws, like FOIA, to find out, because the information shared is exempt from disclosure.

Isn’t it important to protect computer systems and networks?

Absolutely. Strong information security is critical to privacy and civil liberties, and can protect users and companies from the activities of malicious actors, be they authoritarian regimes or common criminals. Everyday, millions of ordinary users rely upon the information security of software vendors and online service providers to keep their personal information private and secure, to conduct transactions, and to express their ideas and beliefs.

CISPA, however, only addresses a small piece of the information security puzzle: sharing threat information. It does nothing to, for example, encourage stronger passphrases, promote two-factor authentication, or educate users on detecting and avoiding social engineering attacks, which is the cause of a majority of attacks on corporations. CISPA also does not address promoting more security research, more responsible disclosure or faster patches to known vulnerabilities, nor fixing the troublesome Certificate Authority system.

Who is supporting this legislation?

Facebook and other social companies have NOT endorsed this version of CISPA, but have backed previous iterations of this legislation because companies believe they need the legislation to receive information about network security threats from the government. Right now mostly telecommunications like USTelecom, AT&T, and Verizon support the bill. A full list can be found here.

What can companies do to show they will stand by their users?

Companies can pledge not to provide sensitive private information about their users to the government without legal process.

Facebook released a statement about last year’s version of CISPA saying that it is concerned about users’ privacy rights and that the provision allowing them to hand user information to the government “is unrelated to the things we liked about [CISPA] in the first place.” As we explained in our analysis of Facebook’s response: the “stated goal of Facebook—namely, for companies to receive data about network and other Internet threats from the government—does not necessitate any of the CISPA provisions that allow companies to routinely monitor private communications and share personal user data gleaned from those communications with the government.”

Companies should also join users in opposing this bill by issuing public statements prior to the hearing this Spring.

What can I do to stop this bill?

It’s vital that concerned Internet users tell Congress to stop this bill. Use EFF’s action center to send an email to your Congress member urging them to oppose this bill.  Click here to email Congress.

Copyright Surveillance Machine Launches with New Propaganda

The Copyright Alert System FAQ

It’s been a long time coming, but the copyright surveillance machine known as the Copyright Alert System (CAS) — aka “Six Strikes” — has finally launched. CAS is an agreement between major media corporations and large Internet Service Providers to monitor peer-to-peer networks for copyright infringement and target subscribers who are alleged to infringe — via everything from “educational” alerts to throttling Internet speeds. Unfortunately, the Center for Copyright Information, which is running this “educational” program, is hardly a neutral information source. So, as the participants finally begin to reveal some details, we’re here to provide an alternative.

Who’s behind this program?

The Center for Copyright Information (CCI) is a private consortium consisting of several large copyright owners, such as the Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture Association of America, and five major Internet service providers – Verizon, AT&T, Time Warner, Cablevision and Comcast. These companies created the Copyright Alert System, or CAS – as a private initiative to tackle what they see as “online content theft.”

The CCI has its own introductory video here.

How do I know if my ISP is participating in CAS?

AT&T, Cablevision, Comcast, Time Warner, and Verizon are all part of the CCI. Each of these corporations has a number of related companies and/or subsidiaries that act as ISPs. They are:

SBC Internet Services, Inc., BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc., Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Pacific Bell Telephone Company, Illinois Bell Telephone Company, Indiana Bell Telephone Company, Incorporated, Michigan Bell Telephone Company, Nevada Bell Telephone Company, The Ohio Bell Telephone Company, Wisconsin Bell, Inc., The Southern New England Telephone Company, and BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc. (the AT&T Inc. companies); Verizon Online LLC, Verizon Online LLC – Maryland, and Verizon Online, Pennsylvania Partnership (the Verizon companies); Comcast Cable Communications Management, LLC; CSC Holdings, LLC (solely with respect to its cable systems operating in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) (the Cablevision systems); and Time Warner Cable Inc.

At this stage, no other ISPs are part of CAS.

If you are fortunate enough to live in an area that has ISP options other than those listed above, you might consider whether you might want to opt out of the copyright surveillance machine by choosing another provider.

Which content owners are participating?

At present, only major content owners, such as Disney Studios and Paramount Pictures, are signatories. The MPAA and RIAA are also signatories, but it is not clear whether they will be sending notices on behalf of small content owners.

What’s the background on this program?

For years, the major content industries have wanted to turn ISPs, search engines, and payment processors into the copyright police. So while they were publicly lobbying for draconian legislation like SOPA, (which was ultimately roundly defeated), they were privately negotiating directly with the ISPs to set up a private system of justice—with the White House putting pressure on the ISPs to agree to a deal.

How does CAS identify users?

Content owners claim that they will join peer-to-peer networks to monitor users sharing copyrighted songs, movies and TV shows without permission. If a content owner concludes that an IP address is associated with infringing activity, it will notify the ISP that claims that IP address. The ISP will then send a notice to the account associated with that IP address. If the ISP gets further complaints, the notices will escalate to additional requirements and sanctions. Importantly, the ISP will not provide the content owner with any customer details (such as name or street address) associated with the IP address.

At this time, it does not appear that the ISPs will be directly monitoring their customers’ traffic through deep packet inspection. Rather, the content owners will monitor peer-to-peer traffic from public BitTorrent trackers. CAS will not identify those who take steps to anonymize their internet traffic using a VPN or Tor. Thus, as is the case with so many misguided attempts at controlling the internet, CAS casts a wide net and impacts the privacy of many users, but fails to capture anyone actually intent on avoiding it.

What are the consequences of receiving a notice?

The consequences will vary. Each ISP has its own policy on how many “strikes” it will allow its customers and what sanctions it will impose for each additional strike. With each additional strike, ISPs may take steps including:

  • Informing you by email and voicemail that your account has been linked with possible copyright infringement and ask you to remove filesharing software from your computer.
  • Subjecting you to a browser-lock until you contact your ISP, or until you complete an online “copyright education program”

For example, after five strikes, Comcast will subject its customers to in-browser alerts that require a call to Comcast Security Assurance before deletion. After four alerts, AT&T will require its customers to review an online copyright education course. Verizon is the only ISP that will throttle its customers’ data speeds under CAS. The company has said that, after two weeks notice, it will cap customers’ bandwidth at dial-up speeds.

Neither the ISPs nor CCI have clarified what consequences await customers who receive more than six notices. The CCI’s website currently states that “ISPs will not use account termination” as a sanction under this program.

What can I do if I receive a notice?

In most markets, not much, except read the notices, undergo the copyright education of your ISP’s choice, and continue using your Internet account.

If you believe you have been targeted erroneously, you may be able to dispute the notice. However, you may not be able to dispute the first few notices you receive. After three or four alerts (depending on your ISP), you can challenge the validity of a notice. Your ISP will demand a $35 fee before it will allow you to defend yourself.

The review process is administered by the American Arbitration Association. To challenge a notice, you must apply no more than 14 days after your ISP offers you an independent review. If you successfully challenge at least half of the notices you have received by then, your ISP will clear the record of the notices from your account, your connection will not be temporarily throttled or suspended, and you will receive a $35 refund.

Your challenge is limited to the following defenses:

  • Your account was incorrectly identified as the source of the file in question
  • The file was shared by an unauthorized user of your account, whose use you were not aware of and could not have prevented (e.g., you have an open WiFi connection)
  • You had permission from the copyright owner to share the file
  • The file was mislabeled or misidentified and did not “consist primarily” of the alleged copyright work at issue, but rather contained other, non-infringing material
  • The work was published before 1923
  • Your peer-to-peer reproduction and distribution of the file was fair use under U.S. copyright law

You will not be allowed to raise any other defense. For example, if you shared material that is in the public domain for a reason other than being published before 1923 (for example, it was published before 1989 without a proper copyright notice) then you will be treated as if you engaged in copyright infringement.

The CAS’s private system of adjudication has no appeal process—the arbitrator’s decision is final.

What happens if I don’t challenge the notice?

You are not required to challenge the notices through the independent review process. If you choose not to, your ISP will take further measure as explained above. Again, it is unclear what measures ISPs will take with users after they receive six notices but the CCI says that ISPs will not use account termination as a sanction.

But I maintain an open Wi-Fi network. Someone using my connection might have shared a file, but I didn’t!

Open Wi-Fi is available as a defense under the CCI’s private system of justice, but you can only assert it once. Thus, a café may have its internet connection throttled based on the actions of its customers.

The CCI claims that no “legitimate” open Wi-Fi connections will be impacted because CAS will not apply to business accounts. The CCI argues that the ISPs’ terms of service prohibit allowing open Wi-Fi on residential accounts. But the reality is that many individuals and small businesses, such as local cafés, have residential internet accounts with open Wi-Fi. Thus, at a time when we should be encouraging more open access, CAS will chill open Wi-Fi.

How can the ISPs implement this program without warning their customers and changing the terms of service?

CAS was not part of the deal when you signed up with your ISP. But ISPs generally have very one-sided terms of service that essentially allow the ISP to make any changes it wants. This is particularly unfortunate (though predictable) where, as in many markets, consumers have no real choice about their ISP.

Is CAS a law?

No. This is a voluntary agreement between segments of the content industry and ISPs.

A Bacteria That Turns Toxins Into 24-Karat Gold!

It won’t retrieve the global economy from the ditch, but there is bacteria that consumes a toxic metal to produce pure gold.

The team at Michigan State University says that they found the bacteria Cupriavidus metallidurans is able to take so-called liquid gold (gold chloride, a toxic chemical found in nature) and turn it into 24-karat gold.

The process has been named microbial alchemy – and that’s exactly what it appears to be.

“Microbial alchemy is what we’re doing – transforming gold from something that has no value into a solid, precious metal that’s valuable,” said Kazem Kashefi, assistant professor of microbiology and molecular genetics.

Unfortunately for the world gold markets, it’s not possible to reproduce the experiment on a larger scale because it isn’t cost effective. As such while the researchers might be able to take toxins and turn them into gold, they’ll still come out behind overall.

The result of their research is actually an artwork, named “The Great Work of the Metal Lover”. In features a portable lab in which the bacteria produce gold flakes in front of a live audience.

So it’s no panacea for rocketing gold prices…

But the artist-scientist team still claim the installation still impact, because of its ability to “push scientific inquiry” in new directions.

“Art has the ability to probe and question the impact of science in the world, and ‘The Great Work of the Metal Lover’ speaks directly to the scientific preoccupation while trying to shape and bend biology to our will within the post biological age,” said Adam Brown, associate professor of electronic art and intermedia at the university.

The Secret History of The Freemasons In Japan

Japan Mason FlagJapanese Freemasons claim their links with Western Freemasons go back to ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian times but, I have not been able to verify this.

The earliest verifiable links go back to when the Khazar empire was destroyed by the Mongols and the Russians about 1,000 years ago. At the time their elite class fled with their treasure into Europe and China. The group that fled to China then fled to Japan as Kublai Khan’s armies conquered China. That is why the Star of David can be seen in 1,000 year-old shrines in Japan.

The original Khazars were fully assimilated by the Japanese elite over the ensuing centuries but certain Freemason/Khazar influences became a permanent part of Japanese culture.

After Admiral Perry arrived and forced the Japanese to open up their economy, the Rothschild’s man in Asia, Jardine Matheson, sent an agent to Japan. His name was Thomas Blake Glover and his mission was to create a new arms market by starting a civil war in Japan. The ultimate aim of this war was to prepare Japan for colonization. He managed to sell some battleships and weapons but in the end, Glover’s plot was uncovered and he was driven into bankruptcy.

By this time, learning of the association with their long lost cousins, the Freemasons decided on a different approach. A different Rothschild Freemason agent, Guido H.F. Verbeck, started a very successful Japanese franchise. He is the man in the center of this below photograph.

masontemplar04 01

The people around him are the founding fathers of modern Japan and the senior members of the original modern Freemason lodge. They set up the Meiji emperor as their symbol and modernized Japan.

The Japanese masons were given full assistance by their English and European counterparts and were thus able to defeat the old Khazar nemesis, Imperial Russia, in the Russo-Japanese war.

In later years, confronted by Western racism, the Japanese Freemasons decided they needed to conquer and modernize all of Asia. Their ultimate aim was to prepare for a final show-down with the West and make Tokyo the capital of a world empire.

They allied themselves with the Baron Rothschild (known to us as Adolph Hitler) and were badly defeated by the Rockefellers.

After the war, the victorious Rockefellers arrived in Japan to survey their new possession. Negotiations on the new post-war order took place mainly inside the Japanese Grand Lodge (it is a hidden underground facility next to Tokyo Tower). Every Japanese Prime Minister since the war has been a Freemason. To the Japanese it is common knowledge that their secret rulers are David Rockefeller and his nephew Jay Rockefeller.

The old Rothschild connection still exists but, since the Rockefellers were victorious in WW2, it is the upstart Rockefellers who exert the greatest control.

To this day Japan remains a vassal state, making huge annual payments to their new masters. In theory, they can cash in on the $35 trillion in worthless paper (official data put the number at close to $5 trillion, secret data at over $35 trillion) they have been given in exchange for 60 years of supplying Americans with radios, TVs, cars etc.

In reality, any Japanese Prime Minister who tried to do this was killed or deposed. More recently the Japanese have been threatened into submission with powerful secret weapons. Using former Prime Minister Koizumi and Finance Minister Heizo Takenaka (a Henry Kissinger prot’g’) they also engineered a semi-secret take-over of the Japanese commercial banking system.

For example, Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ bank‘s new logo is a Masonic eye.

masontemplar04 03

Last year the Japanese government provided the Illuminati with close to $800 billion which they have used to finance U.S. wars and to go around the world buying up stocks and real estate.

With the arrival of the Chinese secret society into the power equation, the Japanese secret government is now considering how to renegotiate its status.

The plan I have suggested to them is to make an alliance with Russia, China, India, the free Muslim countries (e.g. Malaysia, Indonesia), South America and Africa etc. before announcing to the world they will no longer finance the Rockefellers, Rothschilds and their Illuminati ilk.

Instead, they will call for a global meeting to discuss a new way of running the planet. They will also offer to finance a battle to end all poverty, environmental destruction and disease within 3 years.

Because the U.S. military/industrial socialist system would collapse without Japanese financing, the U.S. would continue to receive generous funding in exchange for a promise to use the Pentagon to lead the new war against poverty, environmental destruction and disease. The U.S.-Japan alliance would thus become a foundation block of the new international system.

This plan is under serious consideration and wheels are in motion.

Aaron Swartz files reveal how FBI tracked internet activist

Firedoglake blogger Daniel Wright publishes once-classified FBI documents that show extent of agency’s investigation into Swartz.

A blogger has published once-classified FBI files that show how the agency tracked and collected information on internet activist Aaron Swartz.

Swartz, who killed himself in January aged 26, had previously requested his files and posted them on his blog, but some new documents and redactions are included in the files published by Firedoglake blogger Daniel Wright.

Wright was given 21 of 23 declassified documents, thanks to a rule that declassifies FBI files on the deceased. Wright said that he was told the other two pages of documents were not provided because of freedom of information subsections concerning privacy, “sources and methods,” and that can “put someone’s life in danger.”

The FBI’s files concern Swartz’s involvement in accessing the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (Pacer) documents. In pursuit of their investigation, the FBI had collected his personal information and was surveilling an Illinois address where he had his IP address registered.

Aaron H. Swartz FBI File

One page reads: “Washington Field Office requests that the North RA attempt to locate Aaron Swartz, his vehicles, drivers license information and picture, and others. Since Swartz is the potential subject of an ongoing investigation, it is requested that Swartz not be approached by agents.”

The FBI also collected information from his social networking profiles, including Facebook and Linkedin. The latter proved to be a catalog of his many notable accomplishments, which include being a co-founder of Reddit, a founder of a website to improve the government, watchdog.net and as metadata adviser at Creative Commons.

Information from a New York Times article about his Pacer hack was also included in the files, though strangely, since the article can still be read online, the name of the article’s other subject, Carl Malamud, was blocked out.

Hacking collective Anonymous released a State Department database Monday in memory of Swartz. The files included employees’ personal information such as addresses, phone number and emails.

Over 315 of 450 Tested Plastic Containers Leach Hormone-Like Compounds

When the industry found consumers getting hip to BPA and its hormone disrupting qualities, they started looking at alternatives. While that was nice and all, the alternatives aren’t much better. In fact, some research found that most plastics, even those that are BPA-free, still leach hormone-mimicking chemicals when exposed to normal conditions. While the research took place a couple years ago, it reminds us to think twice when using and purchasing plastics.

Despite that the industry would like you to think “BPA-Free” labels make foods safe from hormone disrupters, researchers say that this simply isn’t the case. They tested more than 450 different plastic containers from stores like Walmart and Whole Foods. More than 70% of them released estrogen-like chemicals.

The containers they tested included those most likely to come in contact with food. Plastic bags, baby bottles, deli containers, and reusable plastic food containers were all tested. Because they knew BPA-containers would emit hormone-disrupters, they focused on those plastics that claimed to be “BPA-free”.

When exposed to saltwater and alcohol, the majority of the plastics released hormone disrupting chemicals. The number increased when they were put in the dishwasher, exposed to sunlight, or used in the microwave. These exposures are just the type that these plastics would undergo if used in your home.

“Then, you greatly increase the probability that you’re going to get chemicals having estrogenic activity released,” said Professor of Biology George Bittner, adding that they increased the number of containers emitting hormone disrupters to 90%.

The study didn’t focus on health effects as much as the chemicals that the containers produced. Some scientists would argue that these disrupters aren’t proven to do any damage to humans, only mice and rats. Others say Bittner’s research isn’t completely reliable. But if a chemical causes infertility and cancer in rats, I don’t want to touch it.

However, those that have questioned BPA-effects before are welcoming the study.

“This is really helpful because they took a look at very common products,” says Sonya Lunder of the Environmental Working Group.

It seems when the scientific world is presented with studies like this, we are encouraged to continue on with business as usual until they know, without a doubt, that something is 100% likely to cause cancer, illness, death, or the like. While they may be convinced our retail habits are more important than our health, I’d like to think our informed readers know otherwise.

Iran to Execute 4 Bankers on Fraud Charges

Iran’s judiciary system recently worked through the biggest banking fraud case in the nation’s history.

According to The New York Times, the outcome of the case was made official on Monday. Results were dramatic to say the least.

Judiciary spokesman Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei told reporters that four people had been officially sentenced to death on charges of corruption and “disrupting the country’s economic system.”

The guilty party was responsible for mishandling $2.6 billion of funds – using forged documents in order to receive credit from banks, permitting them to purchase state-owned companies.

From PressTV:

According to the indictment, the owners of Aria Investment Development Company, which is at the center of the controversy, had bribed bank managers to get loans and letters of credit. The company has more than 35 offshoots which are active in diverse business activities.

The four are Mahafarid Amir-Khosravi…[the prime suspect], Behdad Behzadi, his legal advisor, Iraj Shoja, his financial solicitor and Saeed Kiani Rezazadeh, head of the Ahvaz branch of Saderat Bank,” he [Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei] said.

Additionally, the president of the Bank Melli branch in Kish was condemned to life in prison. The former deputy minister Khodamorad Ahmadi has been ordered to spend a decade in prison as well, according to Iran’s attorney general, Mohseni-Ejei.

Several others involved in this infamous scandal have also been slapped with heavy fines and many have also been prohibited from holding public office.

Economist Nouriel Roubini added his two cents on the subject, reporting to Bloomberg:

“Bankers are greedy; they’ve been greedy for the last hundreds of years…t’s not a question if they are more immoral today then they were a thousand years ago, you have to make sure they behave in ways in which you minimize those risks.”

This message surely hits a little too close to home for central bankers across the globe who have been engaged with fraud and corruption in the past or present.

Constituents and political leaders spend a big chunk of time debating over how to deal with our crumbling economy. Ending system abuse from insiders and the Fed alike would undoubtedly have a positive ripple effect, but how is that goal going to be achieved? Thus far, not a single chief central banker has been arrested in light of the financial crisis.

This is completely asinine.

They keep making more money, while we struggle to thrive in the middle class. The brutal truth is that banks prosper when people are on welfare. They’re invested in keeping you down and could care less about your American Dream.

Perhaps Iran is on to something by enforcing real consequences when insiders mess with the country’s entire economic system. The death sentence decision is obviously harsh (Iran’s justice system is pretty harsh in general). Alas, what’s decided cannot be undone. They said they are trying to set an example.

Elite criminals shouldn’t be treated differently than any other criminal; they should be prosecuted, not protected.

Would You Like Hormones With Your Steak Sir?

Eating beef, juicy, tender and tasty is a joy for carnivores the world over but sadly there is a two out of three chance you are getting far more than meat and micro-nutrients.

In 1998 the European Union banned the use of hormones in beef cattle production. The Scientific Committee on Veterinary Measures Related to Public Health identified six hormones, three natural and three synthetic that pose a threat to human health.

The natural hormones are:

* Oestrodial

* Progesterone

* Testosterone

The synthetic hormones are:

* Zeranol

* Trenbolone

* Meglengesterol

Although concern has arisen over the use of these hormones in beef cattle the USA and Canada has continued to use them.

The scientists have issues regarding the residual amount of hormones left in the meat at the point of consumption. These hormones have been implicated in not only the early onset of puberty, particularly in girls, but an increase in levels of breast, prostrate and colon cancers, and in disruption of the reproductive cycle in women of all ages.

Manure produced by growth enhanced cattle contaminates the ground surface and groundwater and this can lead into runoff into, streams, rivers and ultimately the ocean.

Aquatic ecosystems have proved very vulnerable to hormone exposure and such exposure has been shown to affect the gender of fish produced and their reproductive capacity.

It is estimated that of the 35,000,000 beef cattle slaughtered in the United States each year 2/3 of them have been injected with growth hormones to make them grow faster.

In addition, rBGH – recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone is used by many dairy farmers to increase milk production. This hormone is also called Somatatrophin, and it varies from the natural Somatatrophin present in the cow by one amino acid. It is this that has an affect on another hormone within the cow IGF1 and it is the raised IGF1 that stimulates the cow to produce more milk. Although no human issues have been found from rBGH increased IGH1 levels have been linked to prostrate, breast and colo-rectal cancers.

A major issue of giving cows artificial Somatatrophin is that they develope more udder infections, which are treated with antibiotics. Antibiotic resistant bacteria could become a problem, and in turn the worry is that these bacteria may survive pasteurisation and be passed to humans in the milk they drink.

It’s no wonder that organic farming, particularly that of animals produced for food, is the fastest growing sector of US agriculture.

Snopes Debunking Website Exposed

Snopes.com is run by a man and a woman with no background in investigation. Their toolbox? It consists of the Google search engine. That’s it.

Snopes.com has been considered the ‘tell-all final word’ on any comment, claim and email. One negative article by them and people point and say, “See, I told you it wasn’t true!” But what is Snopes? What are their methods and training that gives them the authority to decide what is true and what is not? For several years people have tried to find out who exactly was behind the website Snopes.com. Only recently did they get to the bottom of it. Are you ready for this? It is run by a husband and wife team – that’s right, no big office of investigators scouring public records in Washington, no researchers studying historical stacks in libraries, no team of lawyers reaching a consensus on current caselaw. No, Snopes.com is just a mom-and-pop operation that was started by two people who have absolutely no formal background or experience in investigative research.

Then it has been learned the Mikkelson’s are jewish – very Democratic (party) and extremely liberal.
Then it has been learned the Mikkelson’s are jewish – very Democratic (party) and extremely liberal.

David and Barbara Mikkelson pictured above; are from San Fernando Valley of California. They started their website ‘Snopes’ about 13 years ago. After a few years it began gaining popularity as people believed it to be unbiased and neutral. But over the past couple of years people started asking questions when ‘Snopes’ was proven wrong in a number of their conclusions. There were also criticisms the Mikkelsons were not really investigating and getting to the ‘true’ bottom of various issues, but rather asserting their beliefs in controversial issues.

In 2008, State Farm agent Bud Gregg hoisted a political sign in Mandeville, Louisiana referencing Barack Obama and made a big splash across the internet. The Mikkelson’s were quick to “research” this issue and post their condemnation of it on Snopes.com. In their statement they claimed the corporate office of State Farm pressured Mr. Gregg into taking down the sign. In fact, nothing of the sort ever took place. A friend of Mr. Gregg personally contacted David Mikkelson to alert him of the factual inaccuracy, leaving him Mr. Gregg’s contact phone numbers. Mr. Mikkelson was told that Mr. Gregg would give him the phone numbers to the big exec’s at State Farm in Illinois who would inform them that they had never pressured Mr. Gregg to take down his sign.

But the Mikkelson’s never called Mr. Gregg. In fact, Mr. Gregg found out that no one from Snopes.com had ever contacted any one with State Farm. Yet, Snopes.com has kept their false story of Mr. Gregg up to this day, as the “final factual word” on the issue.

Let me recap: Snopes has false stories posted on their site that they KNOW to be false, yet they keep them up. This is a dishonest organization at the very least.

What is behind Snopes’ selfish motivation? A simple review of their “fact-checking” reveals a strong tendency to explain away criticisms towards liberal politicians and public figures while giving conservatives the hatchet job. Religious stories and issues are similarly shown no mercy. With the “main-stream” media quickly losing all credibility with their fawning treatment of President Obama, Snopes is being singled out, along with MSNBC and others, as being particularly biased and agenda-motivated.

So if you really want to know the truth about a story or a rumor you have heard, by all means do not go to Snopes.com! You could do just as well if you were a liberal with an Internet connection. Take anything Snopes says with a grain of salt and an understanding that they are written by people with a motive to criticize all things conservative. Use them only to lead you to solid references where you can read their sources for yourself.

Plus, you can always Google a subject and do the research yourself. That’s all the Mikkelson’s do.

Yes, and I agree with this. So when people send me anything that says “Snopes says this is false”, I think so what. I don’t believe them either.

The people behind Snopes.com are gatekeepers, and the website is for the lazy investigator/researcher!

Eight reasons why water fluoridation has failed modern civilization

If you went up to the average person on the street today and tried to explain that most Americans drink, bathe in, and wash their dishes and clothes in an industrial waste product that is linked to causing endocrine disruption and cancer, you might be labeled a loon. But this is exactly what millions of city-dwellers do every day without realizing it, thanks to an outdated and completely unscientific public health intervention known as artificial water fluoridation.

Contrary to popular opinion, fluoridated water is not the dental health miracle that some government bureaucrats and conventional dentists still claim it is, and regular exposure to this noxious snake oil could slowly be poisoning you and your family. Here are eight solid and scientifically-backed reasons why water fluoridation is nothing to celebrate:

1) Water fluoridation has failed to reduce dental expenditures. Fluoride apologists have long claimed that forced water fluoridation would greatly reduce dental costs for everyone. But according to the data, dental expenditures have actually increased dramatically since the advent of water fluoridation back in the 1940s, as have the number of dental professionals, dental schools, and overall industry profits.

2) Water fluoridation has actually increased rates of tooth decay. Likewise, there has also been a steady increase in tooth decay rates across the country, despite the fact that nearly three-quarters of the U.S. population is now receiving fluoridated water. Most of Europe and many other countries around the world do not fluoridate their water at all, and tooth decay rates in these areas are similar or even lower than they are in North America.

3) Water fluoridation has created an epidemic of dental fluorosis. Even the most devoted fluoride apologist will admit that chronic exposure to fluoride can lead to a form of tooth decay known as dental fluorosis, which is marked by brown or white staining and corresponding mottling on teeth. It would be scientifically foolish to insist otherwise when acknowledging the fact that as many as 60 percent of all adolescents, and particularly those who live in fluoridated areas, now suffer from the permanent condition.

4) Water fluoridation is responsible for damaging bones, triggering arthritis. Back in 2006, the National Research Council (NRC) published a report showing that the federal government’s maximum contaminant level for fluoride in water is a complete fraud. As it turns out, so-called “optimal” fluoride levels in water do not protect the health of children or adults, and regular exposure to fluoride in water can lead to brittle bones, pre-clinical skeletal fluorosis, and arthritis.

5) Children who drink fluoridated water develop lower IQs. According to information compiled by the fluoride awareness group Fluoride Action Network (FAN), at least 34 published studies have identified a link between fluoride exposure and reduced IQ levels. A recent review put together by researchers from Harvard University found that children living in fluoridated areas have 350 percent lower IQ levels on average compared to children living in non-fluoridated areas.

6) Fluoride calcifies the thyroid and pineal glands, two important hormone producers in the body. Another inconvenient fact about fluoride is that it binds to receptors throughout the endocrine system that are specifically reserved for actual nutrients. Fluoride has been shown to accumulate in both the thyroid and pineal glands, where it inhibits the normal production of hormones that regulate living systems throughout the body.

7) Fluoridated water is toxic to formula-fed babies. Did you know the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recognizes fluoride as an “unapproved drug,” which means those who receive it are being forcibly medicated against their will and without informed consent? Fluoridated water is particularly harmful for the development of formula-fed babies, who admittedly receive toxic doses of fluoride whenever their parents mix baby formula with fluoridated tap water.

8) The fluoride added to most water supplies is an industrial waste product that causes cancer. Unbeknownst to many is the fact that the fluoride chemicals added to most municipal water supplies are not naturally occurring elements in the earth, but rather waste byproducts of industrial production systems. Such chemicals have never been properly safety tested, and they most definitely do not benefit oral health in any way.

“The chemical used in over 90 percent of cities in North America are fluorosilicates,” explains Dr. Hardy Limeback, a dentist and former head of preventive dentistry at the University of Toronto. Dr. Limeback used to support water fluoridation, that is until he learned the truth about where it comes from and what it does to the human body. “[Fluorosilicates] are contaminated with cancer-causing arsenic and radioactive particles and have never been tested for safety in humans.”
